I redeemed 2 trips to the lip lab this year - one for a regular trip and again when they offered a session with their global artist Janice Daoud. I had my second session today so I thought I'd come back and post some photos/thoughts of the experiences 

Trip 1: a study in oranges

I had Trip 1 back in May, and for 3500pts you got 2 sets of 2 bespoke lipsticks plus their mini lip kits. When I arrived it turned out the Rewards Bazaar hadn't sent my information over (even though I had the appointment time confirmation email from the Bazaar) and the lip lab did not have me on the books (in fact, they asked me if I was another appointment they had written down - sorry, not Shirley!)

However, because I've been there a few times on my own and to make lipsticks for fellow BT'ers, they know me so they made it work and squeezed me in.  I ended up working with their technician Christopher, who I'd dealt with before and we made a quartet of orange variations.  While he didn't quite capture my vision for a true orange lipstick with any of them, I was very pleased with the 4 lipsticks I came home with, and I thought the addition of monogrammed caps was a nice touch they'd added since my last visit.

Trip 2: unintentional Subculture lipsticks?

My second visit was today and with their global artist Janice Daoud. Originally this appointment was only for a specific weekend in July, but at the last minute the Rewards Bazaar said the date had been changed to the following weekend but I was unfortunately out of the country and couldn't make it.  Thankfully, the Rewards Bazaar people were able to coordinate with Janice and sort out rescheduling for the next time she was in town (today!)

Firstly, Janice was absolutely lovely.  I've been a fan of her work since she was a global artist at NARS, so getting a chance to chat with someone whose work you've admired was a real treat.  And she's even more beautiful and sweeter in person!  I'm sure I was probably acting like a total dork, but she was very gracious and friendly.

We had a fantastic time working on the shades I wanted to make (I didn't decide what I wanted until 1/2 hr before my appointment) but after the fact I joked that I unintentionally made a third of the ABH Subculture palette 😄 She was able to get 2/4 shades right on the first go, and the other 2 only required minor tweaking.  During the appointment they offered me cookies and wine and made the whole visit a really fun experience.

I gave them all super corny, pun-y names and the staff wrote out formula cards (with lipstick swatches on them) so I could have them made again, if necessary.  Adding the swipe of lipstick to the card must be new because in all the times I've been, they've not done this before.

At any rate, despite having minor hiccups with both appointments, I'd highly recommend snapping these experiences up if they ever pop up on the Rewards Bazaar again.  They are totally worth the points and a really fun day out!

I am in LOVE with that mustard-color lipstick that you made! (and sweet handle, too; I take it's a Bowie reference?). So glad you had good experiences at the lab and they were able to reschedule for you. 🙂
