What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

I'm one of those gals that are obsessed with fragrances and have about around 50 60 70 80 and still collecting...(if you want to call it that.) So I would like to know what are you wearing today?

I'm wearing Obsession...(hahaha kinda fits this thread, doesn't it? :D)

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

Today I wore Bon Parfumeur 801.  This has a light grapefruit, citrus, and woody (forest-like) scent.  Although I like citrusy/woody scents, this one is not particularly impressive.

Top:  Ivy, Grapefruit, Citron, Italian Mandarin

Middle:  Sea Notes, Rosemary, Pink Pepper, Nutmeg

Base:  Cypress, Cedar, White Musk

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

My fragrance for this week was 1270 by Frapin.

The Scoop
Named for the year the Frapin family established itself in the Cognac region of France (and continues to make cognac to this day), 1270 was created by Beatrice Cointreau, great granddaughter of Pierre Frapin. Together with Frapin's Cellar Master, she sought to create a noble fragrance full of the scents surrounding the creation of cognac. 1270 is dry, rich, velvety and smooth. The flowers of the once-proud Folle Blanche (a grape nearly extinct from the region), the vineyard grass, the wine warehouse, the rich smell of damp earth in the cellars, the wood of new casks, the loamy smell of humus where the ancestral cognacs are stored– all these notes can be detected in 1270. Gorgeous is putting it mildly... this scent defies flowery prose. A true masterpiece.

My thoughts- 1/5.  A very strong, I mean very headache inducing strong start of coffee, hazelnut, cocoa, prunes and spices. Shortly leather joins in. 3 minutes in the strength in scent drops but it's still a headache inducing power. The scoop mentions what they wanted it to smell like and that is very very accurate. Which is not for me. Wear time was less than 8 hours.

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

@Samtian - I'm sorry you got a headache!  Ironically, as I read the notes, before reading your review, I thought, "no way, this is a migraine waiting to happen!"  Then I read your review. 😅  Why do some perfumiers think more is better?

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

I've worn my three new fragrances twice each:

Phlur Cherry Stem.  This has a gorgeous Bing cherry; brandy; sweet, but not too sweet; leather; woody mix.  This was a blind buy.  I am sooo not disappointed!

Top:  Black cherry, brandy, orange

Middle:  Sugar, plum, jasmine, red freesia

Base:  Leather, ebony, caramel

The 7 Virtues Cherry Ambition.  This is a lovely Marachino cherry, sweet, musky mix.  I tested this in store and really liked it, as I do most The 7 Virtues fragrances.  This and Cherry Stem are two different scents--do you want light and sweet or heavier and boozier?  I love both!

Top:  Cherry, pink pepper, marshmallow, mandarin orange

Middle:  Saffron, cherry blossom, osmanthus, orris

Base:  Frankincense, vanilla, amber, guaiac wood, musk

Nette Lemon Puff.  I cannot smell this one, not even after a shower.  Not one little passing whiff.  I am so disappointed.  This was a blind buy.  I'm going to try layering.

Top:  Lemon, bergamot

Middle:  Jasmine sambac, bitter almond, vanilla, merangue

Base:  Sandalwood

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

@Titian06 Well that's a bummer about the Nette, that sounds amazing!

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

@Samtian - I don't usually blind buy, but the notes sounded so good! 🍋

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

@Titian06  I am glad you are liking the two cherry scents, although I'm sorry that the Nette has been disappointing - I think I have a sample from the discovery set, so I will have to try it out and see if it works any better for me. It sounds like it should be nice, just from the listed notes.

I do like The 7 Virtues Cherry Ambition - I have the travel size - and Phlur Cherry Stem sounds like I would really like it too; it's definitely on my list to try!

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

@caitbird - I love both cherry perfumes--I cannot pick a fave! 🍒❣  Let me know or post on this thread what you think of Lemon Puff if you have that one.  Mom tried it too and couldn't smell it either. 🍋

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

Today I am testing out my sample of Noyz Only Human.

fragrance type: floral woody musk
top notes: bergamot, pink pepper
middle notes: bamboo, water lily
base notes: cedar, ambroxan

This is a lot more vanilla-centric than I expected, just based on the listed notes. I do get some of that woody amber base, and maybe there's more going on that I just am not picking up on, but mostly what I get from this is the vanilla. As vanilla-forward scents go, I like it fine, it's just that vanilla isn't my favorite in fragrances, most of the time. I definitely don't find this as interesting as the other Noyz fragrance I've tried so far, Unmute (which I really like).

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

@caitbird - I was trying to figure out how you were getting vanilla out of these notes until I looked it up on Fragrantica.  It seems like it would be nice; except for me, it's the amboxan, which can be a migraine trigger.

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

@Titian06  yes, it's weird that vanilla isn't one of the listed notes, because it's definitely a vanilla scent. I can see it being a nice scent for someone who likes vanilla more than I do, though.

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

This week will be Jo Malone Mallow on the Moor

My thoughts- 4/5. This starts out as a pure powdery violet. It reminds me of this old violet candy I tried one time. Heliotrope pokes in, barely, after 2 minutes. Very slight oak and very violet dry down. By 3 1/2 hours the scent has a significant power loss. By 6 hours its very faded.

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

@Samtian -   This sounds very English/Agatha Christie to me. 😄

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

@Titian06 That's a good way to think of it!

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

@Samtian  I've never heard of this one, but it sounds pretty!

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

@caitbird It came out in 2023. There were 4 different LE scents. There was another one I wanted but ended up only getting this one.

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

Today I am wearing Nest Midnight Fleur, which I didn't like very much the last time I tried it (quite some time ago now), but I wanted to see if my opinion of it has changed at all since then. It's a woody, ambery floral scent, kind of spicy and kind of sweet; when I first tried it, it kind of reminded me of potpourri. I don't like patchouli generally, and I sometimes dislike amber as well, so I think that may be part of why this one doesn't work well for me.

Fragrance type: oriental floral

Top notes: jasmine

Middle notes: vanilla orchid, exotic woods

Base notes: black amber, patchouli

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

I’m not an amber or patchouli person, either, @caitbird.

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!

🤔maybe this was the one I liked a long time ago and not Indigo. Who knows. I agree though, those base notes yucky.

Re: What are you wearing, Fragrance edition!
