I'm VIB Rouge and spend lots of money at Sephora every year. I am insulted by this new "Rookie" label that Sephora has slapped on my profile. It's insulting and demeaning and frankly inappropriate.
In addition, lately Sephora has had terrible customer service. I order items and receive empty shipping boxes with only samples.
The samples are a joke too, why even bother asking us when they send us random junk that I just throw in the trash. Nordstrom asks what I want and ALWAYS sends me the exact sample I choose unlike Sephora who NEVER sends the sample I pick.
When I complained to Sephora about not getting the item (no longer available) that I paid for and ordered and received an empty shipping box, I was promised a return phone call from someone named "Dan Dan." You guessed it, she NEVER CALLED ME BACK.
Now, I'm a "Rookie" and shame on you Sephora for judging your long time customers with stupid labels. Your web site is down more than it's up and now I'm no longer a valued customer, as I'm a "ROOKIE."
Sephora, you are nothing to me. I will take my 1K $ plus that I shop at your store and go to Nordstrom where I'm valued, not labeled a "Rookie," and I actually get the samples I pick out.
I noticed too that Sephora's online customer service declined significantly.
Also, they constantly have problem with their web page. What a shame!
good lord. BT (the old forum) used to be a place that instilled a faith in humanity, not drained me of it.
the term rookie is only in reference to how much you participate on the social media side of the revamped website--and the quality of content. funny, an ability to spend thousands (and a desire to declare so publicly) does not an interesting person make. and i applaud sephora for not equating spending power with quality participation on their social media side.
not everything that makes one feel vaguely uncomfortable (for whatever reason--and perhaps that is worth a bit more personal insight) is a personal slight worthy of outrage.
YES!!!!
Yes! Your post hit it just right! I am too a Rouge and spend thousands of dollars and I actually just found that there is this whole community. I am brand new here, and thats what a rookie is!
@iseult You make an excellent point, we shouldn't pile on the silliness in MidnightDreamer's post, but this is very reminiscent of how threads evolved on the old BT, and for newer members of the community I can see how this comes across as childish. If you do wind up spending more time in BIC you'll understand that the transplants from the old BT format are also struggling to adapt to this new paradigm, and all of those feelings just happen to find a home in a post that strikes a nerve in us as well. We're all human, we all have our own real-life problems, and we're all passionate about various things, so when the perfect thread storm comes along you find that it can bring out the fire in a lot of people on both sides of the issue. Personally, if anything I've posted was out of line I hope it didn't affect anyone, and if it did I truly apologize, it was meant in good faith to bring some quirk and humor on a topic that generated a lot of angst in ways I didn't fully appreciate. ✌️
I am just popping in to say that this is the:
"Best thread ever!"
I really need to pop into BIC regularly. Daily.
Right?? LOL.
I agree
I got the impression the new site was created by an older gentleman who is/was into collecting baseball cards in their day with terms like rookie and kudos being thrown into the mix. These are terms my grandfather used. A bit offputting to be demoted but at least we were all demoted together. In the grand scheme of things it matters not. [though I'm really itching for a promotion]
Yeah it's too bad they didn't allow some of the HoFers to keep at least a slightly higher rank. But I'm sure it'll happen eventually. Also wondering what the new levels will be to be promoted. I actually think the old way was too easy to hit HoF, so hopefully this will be better overall. But yeah, the terms are kinda weird for a beauty site so far lol.

@heartsmyface Right there with you! Wondering what the new standards are for having rookie pulled from my title😂 What about apprentice instead? Or intern. We could pick our own titles. Now THAT would be fun.
Dabbler would've been the title I would have labelled beginners with. Labelling is bound to insult someone but these labels are meant to be fun. No one is truly supposed to take them seriously.
Where i would enjoy choising my own labels I kind of like the surprise aspect if it all. @liv545
@kbmatthews I'm sensing we're going to have to actually earn our promotions with this new algorithm. it took me 3600 hearts to get to HOF last time. I started BIC with around 32000 hearts and am sitting at rising star1 with about 38000 hearts.
@heartsmyface crazy! But also, probably best for the long run. It will be nice to actually "earn" the top level, considering it used to only take like 400 hearts for some people with the old set-up.
@heartsmyface I too am a fan of surprises! Depending on what it is. Not a huge fan of surprise house guests but that's another matter entirely. And holy smokes. It's going to take me forever to get HOF back at this point. 😭 I personally hadn't really given much thought to our respective titles. I think it's interesting to see the perspectives on it though.
@heartsmyface I'm itching for a promotion too! 😄 I've been active in BIC, posted new reviews since the revamp and now the chat... but nothing yet! Cruuuudddddd 😞
