I'm VIB Rouge and spend lots of money at Sephora every year. I am insulted by this new "Rookie" label that Sephora has slapped on my profile. It's insulting and demeaning and frankly inappropriate.
In addition, lately Sephora has had terrible customer service. I order items and receive empty shipping boxes with only samples.
The samples are a joke too, why even bother asking us when they send us random junk that I just throw in the trash. Nordstrom asks what I want and ALWAYS sends me the exact sample I choose unlike Sephora who NEVER sends the sample I pick.
When I complained to Sephora about not getting the item (no longer available) that I paid for and ordered and received an empty shipping box, I was promised a return phone call from someone named "Dan Dan." You guessed it, she NEVER CALLED ME BACK.
Now, I'm a "Rookie" and shame on you Sephora for judging your long time customers with stupid labels. Your web site is down more than it's up and now I'm no longer a valued customer, as I'm a "ROOKIE."
Sephora, you are nothing to me. I will take my 1K $ plus that I shop at your store and go to Nordstrom where I'm valued, not labeled a "Rookie," and I actually get the samples I pick out.
One day, if we keep our batting averages up (i.e. get off double secret probation), we'll make it to the big leagues! ⚾️💄💋
Your purchases have nothing to do with your BIC status; it's based on your activity within the BIC. I've never had an item broken during shipment. I think you're probably seeing comments on it because people don't generally leave comments about items arriving intact. You should give online ordering a shot! The sale section has more items than the ones in-store, and you can get promos that aren't available in-store.
I have had a number of problems with items ordered online. They are not always packed well, the items are frequently broken with no damage to the box itself, and it's a huge pain to return things when your closest Sephora is 45 minutes away and you work 12 hour days. I've spend a ton of money at Sephora in the past 5 years, and have had more problems with shipping than my Amazon account, which I've had for 14 years.
Hi nakedlaughing,
I am truly sorry to hear about all of the inconvenience with your orders and while shopping with us. I will be sure to share this with the appropriate department within our company. Thank you.
What would be an appropriate label, then? How would you like to be labeled by others? "Pro money spender"?
the Rookie label, as mentioned many times here, is just for your contributions to the Beauty insider community. It has nothing to do with money you've spent. Some of us have answered hundreds of questions, posted dozens of photos, with thousands (if not tens of thousands) of posts, and we are still currently labeled as "Rookie".
@k617 this goes back to my desire to choose my own title. Whilst I'm not particularly bothered by the label rookie if I could choose my own I'd go for Grand High Witch a la Anjelica Houston. I really loved that movie. I wonder if my better half would be open to calling me that instead of Mrs. ......... hoping this lightens the mood. All this seriousness... Reminds me of that quote "a rose by any other name would smell as sweet" or whatever. It's been a minute since high school so forgive any errors in the quote. But whether we're called rookies or something else we're still rad!!! 🎉
yup we certainly are not rookies! 😄
That's why we each have two titles beside our names. Spending status is independent of your contributions to this forum, so I think it's cool that both are recognized.
I agree that we SHOULD have two different "titles". Just because I can't spend as much money as some people doesn't mean that I'm a Rookie, so I believe that the two statuses should be independent.
Completely agreed! $1000 is a ton of money, and most makeup is a luxury product. Many people cannot or will not spend that amount of money on makeup, but that doesn't prevent them from still having a lot of knowledge/opinions/looks to contribute to this community! I think it's good of Sephora to make these two independent rankings.
@Madtown101 If you're new to BIC in its current incarnation, then yes, you're a BIC rookie, we ALL are, relax.
but for the sake of argument, perhaps we can take this opportunity to reevaluate what beauty and community mean to us in this brave new world of BIC. Just like the S...Walks (can't post the actual name of the movement which I think if the definition of irony) that have allowed women to reclaim their bodies and feel empowered, maybe we should all embrace being Rookies, like being revirginized to the world of beauty... Or not.
Sigh, sorry, I just don't understand how a label in one online board can rile up so much vitriole. To paraphrase the immortal words of the inimitable Michael Kors on Project Runway, Season 2, "Lighten up, its just fashion!"
Michael Kors and Project Runway!!!! I loved all the early seasons and Michael Kors was the best, now if only I could figure out how to work "that cr*tch is insane!" into everyday use...
edited: oh for f's sake, you can't even use the word cr*tch on BIC?
@LCResz lol, are we really surprised? We aren't even allowed to name half the lipsticks we buy cause they're too risqué.
