How can I get more volume and definition in my hair??

Hey y’all!

I have very thin wavy hair (2A), and I have no idea how to take care of it. My hair is very dry and lacks volume, wich can be quite annoying when I’m trying to style. It takes forever to dry, so I almost always end up blowdrying and straightening so it is way too hard to style it wavy or curly! My hair, after I wash it, is wavy for a little while and then it becomes flat and undefined. When I actually manage to get it to work with me, it turns into to curls, not waves. I don’t own a diffuser or any wavy hair products, so it’s sometimes hard to bother to try to style with the hair products my sister has for her curly hair. 
I would love some tips and tricks to get my hair keep the waves?
