Hello there, ladies and gents!
Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:
"What's on your plate?"
The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!
For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.
Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.
For lunch today, I had:
-Brown rice
-Steamed egg
-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper
-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)
Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄
Roasted eggplant pasta by Alison Roman.
I used one softball sized eggplant and 1/2 pound of pasta.
We’re doing home renovations, and I performed a culinary experiment in desperation of concocting a quick lunch food.
I mixed tuna, hard boiled eggs, lots of celery, lemon juice, and Marie’s ranch dressing. It’s different and good. If I still had dill in the garden and chives I would have used those also.
Boiled eggs added a nice touch @Ispend2much6 . Looks yummy. 😋 I will make tuna salad this week 😘
Hot 🥵 summer…perfect for a popsicle… introducing home made plum popsicles. Our Santa Rosa plum tree made way too much plums. We gave away, eat, bake… and I finally made juice and popsicles and it was a hit
I also love different kinds of ice cream and popsicles in the summer, although I don't eat them often.
Now I'm more focused on reducing sugar in my body, so I try to eat foods with low or no sugar. In addition, I recently found a useful resource Pharmacy B2B through which I learn a lot of useful and, most importantly, necessary information.
@blackkitty2014 I wouldn't have thought to use plum for popsicles but it looks so yummy!
You are simply amazing @blackkitty2014 ! Wish I was there- I would trade baked goods for fresh plums! Did you happen to try Smitten Kitchen’s Purplr Plum Torte this year?
Ah you’re too kind @Ispend2much6 . No I forgot about it. I look it up now. How is your garden this year? We’re excited this summer. All the works we put in seems to pay off. We have tomatoes, lots of different varieties of peppers, hopefully cucumbers soon. I’m excited about Habenero pepper (first year the trees bear fruits instead of dying) and Canteloupe
@blackkitty2014 Ooh I hope you get habaneros when you still have plums. I bet you could make a tasty salsa with them!
Our garden is doing pretty well. Last year all we could grow were cucumbers and this year those are the worst crop.
First eggplant!
Could you please ask your husband why our cucumber and pepper plant leaves are yellow? I appreciate it so much!
@blackkitty2014 Okay, the thumbnail of your photo drew me back into this thread. It’s the prompt I needed to convince me to go buy more fruit. 😂 Popsicles sound like a great way to use an overactive plum tree!
Thx you @WinglessOne . We try to eat lots of fruits during summertime too.
@blackkitty2014 I wish I could easily grow/maintain fruit trees and bushes on my apartment balcony. I’d much rather be able to step a few feet outside and pick fresh fruit than drag myself out to a grocery store or farmers market. I buy a lot of frozen fruit for convenience, but nothing beats a fresh peach, nectarine, plum, melon, etc. I need to restock my fridge this week.
@WinglessOne Fruit is important. My new favorite fruit is Trader Joe’s passion fruit sorbet. If you like tart flavors you will love it.
@Ispend2much6 Haha, earlier this month I told my doctor “but [Jeni’s Pineapple Upside Down Cake ice cream] contains chunks of real pineapples and cherries, so that qualifies as a fruit serving, right? Plus, protein and vitamin D!” 🤣 We were discussing my worsening lactose intolerance and the blasphemy notion that I should decrease my cow milk ice cream intake even more than I already have, for health reasons. She said “well… there’s always sorbet…” So of course I now have to stock up on Jeni’s Frosé Sorbet. Doctor’s orders! 🙃 Next time I’m at TJ’s, I’ll pick up a pint of passion fruit sorbet. Sounds right up my alley!
@WinglessOne That IS truly blasphemous! I always have a good supply of "pizza and ice cream" pills (i.e. Lactaid) on hand.
If you have a Wegmans nearby, their lactose-free chocolate ice cream is actually really, really good. They don't make it, so I wonder which brand it really is.
Hurry to TJ's though; the supply at our store isn't as plentiful as it was when the sorbet first came out. It even has a creamy mouth feel, even though dairy and coconut-milk free.
I wonder if you can charge the Frose to your health savings account...doctor's orders and all.😂
