Ok so I've been wanting to make this thread for a while. I've also been wanting to start a "random thoughts" thread...but I figured I'd separate the categories so that at least the "beauty" one is on the front page, rather than hidden in off topic. So, have a beauty-related thought but don't think it's worth starting a thread about ? Post it here !
today I got a facial at an extraordinarily nice spa. A real treat. And the results were immediate and truly great. But guys: she pulled out a clarisonic and a foamy cleanser for that first initial cleanse, and I nearly had a heart attack. Great for a lot of people but most of you know how I feel about those things !!!!!! Overall, as I said, it was great and my skin is happy. But sheesh.

RANDOM BEAUTY FACTS ABOUT YOU THREAD !

So, my younger sister has a huge quantity of MAC eyeshadows but they're all in the compacts. We were hanging out the other day I was asking her why she doesn't depot them and put them in Z Palettes and get them organized. I was kinda going on and on and she looked at me and said:
"You know too much."
That is what you get for trying to help loved ones.
Well, I like my singles being in single form. I'm more likely to grab them when I travel which is often these days. And if they're in special packaging there's no way I'd even consider it, lol.
That aside, does she know she can buy colors all ready to put into a Mac palette that are much cheaper?
Yeah I totally get the travel/LE factor but hers are all permanent so she has no excuse lol. I'm sure she knew she could just buy the pans but this was a few years ago when she first got her pro card so she went a little nuts. As I'm sure I would, too (let's be real :))
Does anyone else ever have occasional intense beauty regrets?
For example, last January I purchased one of the Pantone Marsala blush palettes from my store on a total panicked whim after it had already sold out online. Then I opened it up and compared it to blushes I owned and decided "I have others that are close enough dupes." I was being responsible and talked myself back out of that purchase and returned it without even trying the powders. I wanted it again after it was completely unavailable and, periodically, I still think "OH GOD WHY?" and get mopey.
It has been nearly a year. I'm still sad. I have a gorgeous photograph of it that I sometimes gaze at as if it is a long lost lover.... Remembering "back when things were good." 😞
I almost did the same thing with champagne pop.
Yes - when I look at all the makeup I have and then wear the same nude colors to work everyday haha 🙂
Hahaha. Oh, I can surely relate to this. My poor, lonely lipstick collection. So beautiful, so cold....
Hehe, you just need an after work alter ego;).
Yes, it happens. But not enough. I more regret what I bought than what I didn't buy.
What I regret most on the buy front is not getting more backups for the items I love. There are a few items that are so lovely....I hoard them so I don't run out. That is the other area of deep regret for me.
I thought we all agreed hoarding was a bad word.
I dont have back ups for a lot of things. I have one for my favourite Nars tinted moisturizer, the Esperanza palette, and the Mac giambatista lipsticks I have two whole sets I'm at a loss as to what to do with.
No, we are not hoarders. We are collectors 😂 Sounds more fancy.
Sigh. Yes. LE's do it to me 😞
Awwwww, I looked at the first sentence and the picture and immediately thought of ten people who want that blush palette:(. Then I read your sad story.
That at hasn't happened to me, but I have given an item to a friend in drunkness before only to have to go out and buy it again.
I totally get that. When Tom Ford Nude Dip first came out I had one in my hand and decided not to buy it because I had something similar and was trying to be responsible. It haunted me. It ended up getting re-released but I don't think I will ever forget how much I wanted it when it became a unicorn.
I hate that feeling so much...so, so much. I over compensate and buy too many copies of something that I dearly love. As my husband points out constantly, there are a lot of things that I dearly love. Luckily (or not), he's a bit of a hoarder...umm collector...too. So, he can't say much. It doesn't hurt that cosmetics take up way less room than his bicycles.
"There are a lot of things that I dearly love!"
my hubby has said this to me as well;).
Thank you for fixing my typo in your quote 😊
It happens to me a lot gwen and sometimes I buy things n dont use n then give away to regret it...I feel for ur marsala palette, so sorry to hear abt that.
This happens to me a lot, unfortunately. Especially when I buy something LE and return it because I didn't use it. Then it sells out and that's when I realize I should have held onto it. Sigh. Actually it happened to me with the KVD palettes - Ladybird and Saint. I bought them when they were in the sale section, didn't touch them, gave them to a friend, and now I regret it so much.
Oh no! It's just so bad when it was right in our hands and we gave it up. I feel like that is worse than wanting an LE product that you never even see or experience in person.
Yes, totally worse. 😞 Unfortunately I've gone through this quite a few times before I became active on BT and found out the value of those things. I also gave away a completely unused UD Glinda palette, sigh.
