2026 has arrived and so has YEAR NINE (9) of the Pan It! Challenge 🍾
2026
The "Rules"
To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections. For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.
Getting Started (please share the following)
Please Use This Thread To...
Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT! Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like. Move on to something else! (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)
Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:
Past Panning Challenges:
@danielledanielle Nothing wrong with a small list! You got this!
Yes yes yes, @danielledanielle , what a great list!! I can't wait to see you pan the Armani bronzer.
I also have a Fenty gloss bomb I want some by the end of the year, I used to love the cream formula but fell in love with the gloss.bomb sticks this year, so I'd like to move some glosses out to make room for more of those.
This is going to be so much fun to see you pan through these @danielledanielle.
WHEEEEEEE!!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR AND HAPPY NEW PROJECT PAN DAY! 🎉
I’m taking a leaf out of the book of @Samtian and my goals for this year are numbers/tallies based instead of product-specific. I have broad categories where I want to make progress so I want to see the forest for the trees, if you will (or however that phrase needs to be worded for my intention lol).
-My sum total goal for the year is 100 empties with a total cost/value of at least $1,000.00 (that’s the value/MSRP of the product, not what I may have actually paid for it). I’ve got a fair number of gifted/inherited/deluxe sample items that don’t have an actual value I can find or reasonably calculate, so they’ll count for 1 empty but $0. Bring on the challenge!
-I want to use up at least 96 ounces of bar soap (this is going to vary widely based on soap consistency/milling).
-I want to use up at least 16 full-size Bath & Body Works body creams and lotions (focus is on my 2023 body creams).
-I want to use up at least 4 shampoos (full/normal size, no minis/travel size)—yes, I currently have enough shampoos that came in my life from a family member that this needs to be its own goal. For SEVERAL years going forward.
-Side quests are to
a) be mindful of how many online orders and in-store trips I’m making to my big 3 (Bath & Body Works, Sephora, Ulta) and do everything in my power to utilize sales, deals, and coupons when I do make purchases,
2) continue my extreme low/no-buy in my problem categories and be mindful of my other categories where I could potentially go ham,
and c) make efforts to turnover as much of my collection as possible so that I don’t have so many products lingering from 2023, 2024, and as much of early 2025 as is reasonable by the time we’re welcoming 2027. This means most of my categories are going to be replacement-only purchases +/- X out, 1 in purchases.
No idea how often I’ll update—maybe I’ll switch it up to whenever I’m planning an in-store Sephora or Ulta trip since I hoard my empties that long anyway. This app is so buggy and temperamental that sometimes monthly updates becomes tedious.
Cheers to a new year of project panning, and may the products be ever in your favor!!
@KeriCherryDee I love these goals! Tallying up the cost/value of your empties is such a good idea! Looking forward to seeing your progress updates this year - you've got this! 💪
@KeriCherryDee Ohhh I like the idea of using up a dollar value of product! Very smart way to see if you're buying more than using!
@KeriCherryDee That made me smile! Those are incredible goals and I can't wait to watch your progress!
@KeriCherryDee, those are some impressive use goals. I'm not sure I've tracked or even thought about how long it takes to get through a standard bottle of shampoo and conditioner; it'll be interesting to see your final results.
Fabulous goals, @KeriCherryDee !! I agree, I liked the way @Samtian did empties last year.
I also need to really work toward a number out for each in for my collection, but that's a future challenge lol.
Going to try a project for 2026! I went through all of my makeup for an Instagram sped up version of the Beauty Challenge -- Twelve Months of Beauty Inventory and have definitely been trying to be more in a use your makeup mode the past bit. So I'm putting stuff in my project pan challenge that I want to use a lot, but I'll also be trying to use a bit more of my collection using the Shop Your Stash Challenge: Winter 2026 ❄️ challenges throughout the year. This I hope will help me balance. I tend to volley between wanting to use my project pan items because I want to 'win' the challenge and being boxed in by the task, so am hoping doing both challenges will help with this.

@haleyvvvv love this collection of products and goals! I love your tracking journal too, so organized - you are inspiring me! Beautiful look with the blue eyeshadow, btw!
Looking forward to seeing your progress this year - you've got this! 💪
Thank you so much, @caitbird !! I was inspired by someone on Instagram with the tracking journal, so h/t to them!! 💪 To us all project panners
@haleyvvvv I love your tracking sheets! I also love the Melt and Tower 28 cream blushes. Such lovely formulas. Good luck this year! I have a feeling that shadow palette is going to go quicker than you think!
Thank you, @missjeanie !! They're really some of my fave formulas so it'll be good to try and get through them this year--I like using them together. I also think the palette is going to go fast (hopefully!).
@haleyvvvv Um that tracking is amazing! I can't wait to see your progress.
Thank you, thank you, @Samtian !! I had a little non busy time over the holidays so spent an afternoon making my tracking journal. Now, let's see if I'm still keeping up with it in June.
Wowwy @haleyvvvv, I love that you really put your products to use: I see so many dips and those pans! You are going full pan that Fenty and Westman Atelier this year - not a question of if, but when. That's awesome!!! I like your set up for tracking progres. Grabbing popcorn and getting comfy for watching all the progress you'll be makig this year.
btw, your blue eye look in the spoiler? STUNNING!
Thank you, @itsfi !! I did feel like I cheated a little bit with including some well loved items, but it'll be a good balance of items hopefully. Now the key will be to keep up with it .
Also, thank you, thank you so much!!
Really? I don't see that as cheating at all @haleyvvvv. It's a great idea to have a mix of products at different stages of use, at least in my opinion it is. It's very smart and realistic. It provides a built in source of motivation as well. There are high and low moments when it comes to panning and having a product in your pan it! challenge that is well loved is a reminder that panning a product isn't a pipe dream, it can and does happen and the proof is right there for you to see!
