Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Welcome to Year 7 of our Pan It! Challenge ElleElleG_0-1704168084184.gif

The "Rules"

To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections.  For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.

Getting Started (please share the following)

  • Which item(s) you would like to work on
  • How long you will work on said item
  • Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
  • Starting photo of item

Please Use This Thread To...

  • share what item(s) you are working on,
  • provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
  • ask questions,
  • encourage others,
  • motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)

Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:

Spoiler
  • Take photos!!  When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes 😃 *this is the number one recommendation for everyone, regardless of how long you’ve been panning! Those photos add up and can help you realize progress you might otherwise overlook.
  • If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
  • Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
  • Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
  • Have shadows with a ton of fall out?  Use water
  • Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs.  We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
  • Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.  It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
  • Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!  Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.  Move on to something else!  (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)

Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:

Spoiler
  • Roll the dice: number your items and use a random number generator to pick what you will use each (day/week/month/etc.)
  • Layer/Mask: items you are less fond of under things you like
  • Pan a Look: at the beginning of the week pick a look that you can wear everyday
  • Recreate: a look worn by a fellow BICer, celebrity, etc.
  • Spice up an "everyday" look by adding subtle pops of color (in the crease or on the lower lash line, mix lip products to make shades wearable, etc.)

Thx you @lmaster ❤️🌹

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

A little late, but here is my January progress update! I didn’t use all of the products in my project this month, and instead tried to work some into the Capsule Makeup Collection Challenge .

Here are the products i used the most, and how they’re currently looking!

IMG_7750.jpeg

The Moroccan Oil hair mist should be done in February, and same with the Fenty gloss. It’s more empty than it looks, plus it’s way too old to keep any longer. I put it on today and I’m fairly sure it was tingly/burned a bit, and I definitely do not remember it feeling that way before. In either case, I’m pretty happy with how much of it i used, considering it is 9ml!

I used the ND palette and Lorac eye primer twice each. Not bad considering that I’ve only worn eyeshadow a handful of times in January.

The BIte gloss, PMG lip and Smashbox primer water has been used in the Capsule Challenge. I’m pretty happy with how much ive used them in January, and think they’ll be easily finished in the first half of 2024 if i keep using them the way i have.

I’ve learned so far that i actually really love the PMG DIvine Rose shade, the Milk primer (for some reason I didn’t like it the first time i used it, and then never reached for it!), and the Smashbox primer water. It’s a shame it’s been discontinued, but I’m happy to continue enjoying the 2/3 of this bottle i have left for now.

No product substitutions just yet!

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@cianni Great start 😊 And the Fenty gloss is such a challenge to finish since the wand doesn’t reach to the bottom of the bottle.

I took out the plastic liner inside the mouth of the gloss container so that I can more easily swivel the wand. The gloss isn’t wiped down as much, but it really helps getting product from the sides.

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Keep up the good work @cianni You are doing fabulous! 🌠

Did you decided to toss the Fenty? It would make sense to let it go if it's behaving strangely. I'm a better safe than sorry kind of person when it comes to anything I put on my face 😅

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@cianni Good job 👍

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

You’re doing great @cianni! Just chipping away at things really does work out! So funny about the Milk - I didn’t care for it when I first used it either. I had my makeup done a while ago and the makeup artist used it to prime and the spray from the same line to set and my makeup lasted and lasted! Just talking about this makes me want to dig through my stash to see if I can find mine. 😆

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@cianni Great job!!

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@cianni I'm a fan of the Smashbox Primer Water as well.  How did this get discontinued?  They had such promise when they started with the limited edition ones as well.  I also wasn't a fan of the Milk Hydro Grip primer when I first tried it... maybe it's time to give it another shot!

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@missjeanie I know! I was hoping they’d pop up at winners/marshalls or something but I hadn’t seen any 😞

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

Staying strong!! 💪 Good job @cianni

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

@lmaster Luckily I actually enjoy using these products! It’s so easy to leave them behind when they’re just ok

Re: Pan It! - 2024 Challenge

I'm excited to say
