Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:
Take photos!!When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes😃*this is the number one recommendation for everyone, regardless of how long you’ve been panning! Those photos add up and can help you realize progress you might otherwise overlook.
If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
Have shadows with a ton of fall out?Use water
Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs. We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!
Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.Move on to something else! (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)
I feel like I've really focused on a few items while I kind of forgot about a few others. I'm only working on 10 products at a time, a few that rolled over from last year. I'm actually hopeful I may finish one or two in Feb!
1. Cream Shop Little Gold Mask -- This is a peel off mask, which aren't typically my favourite. It was full at New Years and I believe I used three times. The good thing about these masks are that you use a quite a bit of product ever time. I'm hoping this will be done by mid year. 2. Stupid Vaseline Intensive Care. This started New Years... a full 13 months ago. I find that it really takes some time to sink into my skin and I'm often not wanting to put it on right after I shower at night as I end up kind of sticking to my bed sheets. Similarly I don't want to put it on weekday mornings as I need to get dressed and out the door ASAP in the mornings. I've used it three times each time on a weekend. I just hope it's gone by year end. 3. Smashbox Primer Water. This is one that I haven't minded using at all. I'm not really someone who uses primer consistently as I don't find it generally makes my makeup last any longer but this one is easy to use in the morning and I enjoy the scent. I 100% would not be using it if it were not in my face every morning when I'm getting ready so I'm happy to have it included in the project. I might be able to finish it off in February if my usage rates contine.
- Pacifica Ruby Guava Fragrance. This was one that I never used because the roller ball refused to roll. I managed to pop the roller out much more easily that I would be able to and I've gone through a ton of it since. The fragrance itself is fine, it reminds me of something I would have picked out as a much younger teenager. It's not offensive at all, and it fades super fast, so I'm able to re-apply it twice a day at times. Since there's no roller I just kind of tip it against my forearm and let it drip out. It's not the most elegant to apply but it's getting used finally. I believe I have one more of these in a different scent with the same issue so if I can finish this one off soon and move that one into the project... It'll free up space for a new fragrance or two! -Ouai Scalp Serum -- I'm trying to use this about three times a week and focusing it around my hairline where I feel like my hair gets flat and seems marginally more thin than the rest of my scalp. I don't see anything so far by way of results, but nothing bad is happening either so I'm happy to keep going. -Too Faced Dew You Foundation. This is a decent shade match but I've been rolling other foundations into my capsule challenge weekly so I need to remember to use this one as well. I want to say I used it about a half dozen times but I'm going to try and make sure to use it a few times a week at least. I'm trying hard to tackle certain parts of my stash and foundations is one of them. I need to move some stuff out that is fine, but not a WOW. This one works well if I really hydrate my skin well and it seems to wear okay, but by around 6 hours... she's quite faded. -Kiehl's Love Oil for Lips -- This was 100% under used this month in favour of capsule challenge products. I did finish off my desk lipgloss at work last week though and I intend to put this one in its place. It's not a bad product, just not as good as others that have debuted since this.
-Gxve Shadow Palette is going to be a tough one. I'm trying to use it at least once week but I'm also trying to use other palettes and not burn out on this one alone. The upper left shade is going fine and I anticipate finishing it easily enough. The lower left does have a wee dip in it and I think it is doable this year as well. The lower right will be tough as it looks muddy on my lids so I only really use it as a bit of a liner. Upper right I'll be impressed if I can hit pan at all. It's just too warm for my preference. -Joe Fresh Liner -- I'm just ready to be done with this one after 13 months of panning it. 5-7 days a week of use and it's still going. How??? I do however feel like I'm so close that I can't give up. -It Cosmetics Universal brow pencil. I do not enjoy this. I find the tip is quite blunt and doesn't do a great job in the tail of my brows. It's also a very soft smudgy formula... not a favourite. But it's also almost done. I'm sure it'll be gone this month. I absolutely am glad that I've been using it though because I thought I used to enjoy it. I guess I really just have different preferences any more. I have a clear brow gel in here that I was pairing with the IT Cosmetics pencil. But I'm too lazy to do both a pencil and brow gel. Clear brow gels are just wasted on me. I will be passing on any others that I come across to my nieces for their dance makeup stashes I think. Tinted brow gels are just more my jam these days, that said... I have a few pencils that I do want to try out for science.
@Cissy63 Seeing how much is in the containers has been eye opening for me! I really never would have seen it so clearly were it not for panning projects!
@CookieGirl1 I started using it nightly, but then cut back to about 3 times a week with just one dropper each time. The directions do say daily... I might try and move up to that again.... I'm not seeing anything yet... but also not sure if I'd notice right away?
@missjeanie I actually didn't notice anywhere in the directions where it said how much to apply but l may have just missed it 🤔. That's 500% possible, lol.
