The Beauty Insider Community wants to know all the hair, skincare, fragrance, and makeup products you’ve been loving recently. @txcatx I am tempted by the milk set for the mini version of the bronzer - it is bulky for travel. How did you like their new cheek oil?

@Cyncynn Honestly, it's not my favorite item in the set. I've only swatched it, but it's glittery, sheer (but somewhat buildable), and doesn't seem like it'll last long at all. I do like the rest of the set, especially the bronzer!

September favorites; forgot to include The Ordinary Rosehip Oil.

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil for Skin Elascicity 1 oz/ 30 mL (forgot to add to picture) - I finally tried it this month. The tiny amount I use at night is helping my face calm down after a recent skincare product test gone bad. I’m a lot less red now, and all my new little bumps are slowly receding. I have facial oil blends that contain rosehip oil but, for me, it seems to better combat inflammation as a solo act. Definitely good to have on hand!

Paula’s Choice Gentle Touch Makeup Remover - a perfect new-to-me replacement of Lancôme Bi-Facil Eye Makeup Remover. It’s dual phased, fragrance- and oil-free, and completely non-irritating to my eyes and skin. Like Bi-Facil, Gentle Touch can remove pretty much anything. But this one leaves my skin feeling much better. It’s also much cheaper than Bi-Facil.

Youth To The People Superfood Air-Whip Lightweight Face Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid 2 oz / 59 m... - the unsung hero of my skincare routine. I switched to this moisturizer sometime last year, if I recall correctly. It’s full of antioxidants, including vitamin C, and it works great on my oily zone and dry zones. I use this day and night. I also use it as my eye cream. This jar’s empty because I moved its contents to an airless vacuum pump jar. That’s my only complaint about this product: it comes in a clear glass jar, which is very bad since the vit C it contains is ascorbic acid. But my skin’s happiness is worth the effort of transferring this cream to a better container. [Edit: rearranged the last sentence to appease the managing editor in me.]

Olaplex No. 7 Bonding Frizz Reduction & Heat Protectant Hair Oil 1 oz/ 30 mL - I generally dislike hair oils but gave this one a chance this month, based on my success with the No. 6 Styling Cream. I’m so glad I did! I’m not into hair typing but for folks who are, I’d call my hair mostly 4a with some small patches of 3c. After washing and conditioning, I use a very small amount of this oil on wet or damp hair. (If wet, I smooth it on. If damp, I scrunch it in.) It doesn’t weigh down my coils as long as I don’t overapply. It plays nice with my leave-in conditioner. And like the styling cream, it leaves my hair feeling a bit stronger. I do wish the bottle was larger than 1 oz, but we’ll see how long it takes me to use it up.

Tyrannosaurus Rex by Zoologist - after I finish this dabber sample, I’ll buy a full bottle of this fragrance. T-Rex is not for everyone, but I love it. I’ll just copy/paste my description from the “what are you wearing” thread:

I was not adequately prepared for the extremely bold raging fire and tar pit scent. Not just lit fireplace; this is an orchard of bitter orange trees and pine trees near a tar pit, and everything’s burning down. That and a metallic black pepper note obliterated all other notes for about 30 minutes. As the fire gradually died down, I could also smell rose, ylang ylang, something leafy, a little patchouli, and sandalwood. Hours later, I smell all those things with a much softer burnt wood undertone. I’m glad this didn’t dry down to a sweet vanilla on me; it leans more heavily toward sandalwood as a base note. This fragrance is one hell of a ride.

SMASHBOX - Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer - I just realized I listed this last month, too. 😂 It’s the first primer I’ve ever truly liked under my eyes, particularly for the way it helps concealer sit better in my textured tear troughs. It doesn’t lock concealer in place on its own, so I still need setting powder. But now I use this primer each time I wear concealer.

ILIA - Limitless Lash Mascara - zero eye irritation (and my eyes hate 95+% of mascaras on the market), nice black color, fantastic comb/brush combo wand, lash-nourishing and softening formula, easy to remove at night... I love everything about this mascara. One coat gives me a natural “my lashes but better” look. Two coats amp up the length and volume. It won’t give me a dramatic falsies look (then again, I haven’t tried 3 coats yet), but I’m very happy with the way it emphasizes my lashes. And I’m glad it comes in a mini, so I can maybe actually use up a whole tube before it dries out.

By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Compact - I occasionally use this as a powder foundation, especially over mineral sunscreens that leave a bit of a white cast. This powder is formulated for dry skin: it contains hyaluronic acid and gives a slightly blurred finish. It never cakes on me or makes my face look obviously powdery dry. By Terry’s product photos of these powders are very different from real life. The one in my photo is shade 6 Amber Beige. I have a second one in shade 7 Desert Bare that I sometimes use on the naturally darker perimeter of my face.

Koyudo Fu-pa DEKAFU-PA01 brush - I’ve had this brush almost 2 months. It’s now the only one I use to buff on finishing powders or powder foundation. It’s very soft and extremely dense. I can buff my whole face in 5 minutes with this brush, vs. the 7-10 minutes it takes to get a well-blended airbrush finish with my other powder brushes. This brush is tied with my Chikuhodo Z-4 in the “favorite face brush” category—and that’s saying a lot, if you know how much I adore and cherish my Z-4.

GUERLAIN - Rouge G Customizable Lipstick in shade 111 - I’ve worn this green a lot lately. Sometimes I wear it on its own. Other times, I ombré or fully layer it over a deeper shade like Bite Amuse Bouche in Kale. Like all the Rouge Gs, it’s very emollient and comfy to wear. It doesn’t bleed or feather. And it’s unusual, even for those of us who frequently wear “unconventional” lipstick shades. I’m often asked about it when I wear it. Pictured without my Rouge G customized case because honestly, that case is bulky and heavy: it takes up valuable real estate in my bag, so I usually carry my Rouge G bullets with their black plastic caps and leave the custom case at home.

Youth To The People Superfood Gentle Antioxidant Refillable Cleanser 8 oz / 237 ml is my holy-grail cleanser, but I haven't tried anything else from YTTP...must fix this soon...

I see that amazing Guerlain lip!! You always kill it with "unconventional" shades.

@pocketvenus It’s definitely not an “everyday” fragrance for me, unless I plan to wait 30 minutes post application to venture outdoors—lest I knock everyone back with all that initial metallic citrusy tarred woodsmoke. But I’ll get a lot of use out of it over time. I get where Zoologist got the dinosaur name and imagery from, but honestly, when I first applied it I thought “T Rex? From this? Is it breathing fire? Am I charging through a prehistoric jungle on the back of a fire-breathing T Rex?” 🤣 I haven’t been able to shake that image ever since.

@WinglessOneha ha ha, I know what you mean with the opening. It brought to my mind the volcanos and lava in Fantasia 🙂 It's definitely very unique and full of personality, lots of facets to pay attention to. I really want to try some other fragrances by this nose after smelling T Rex.

I've been using it twice a day for the last two weeks or so since I increased my Retin-A concentration. It's gotten rid of the burning sensation I had which is a real blessing. I hope my skin continues to like it. And the price can't be beat!

Thanks for the rec - I'm debating whether or not to incorporate retinol into my regular skincare routine, so this will definitely come in handy if I decide to take the plunge!
