Considering a Beauty Lesson

I am in central Illinois and am considering scheduling a beauty lesson. I am new to transitioning and am an older individual (42). Does anyone have any recommendations and/or what to expect at the appointment.

Re: Considering a Beauty Lesson

@JamieBucc  The makeup artists at Sephora are usually pretty excited to assist someone who’s newly exploring makeup options.  There’s no greater joy than introducing someone to what you’re passionate about.  I suggest going online and finding some sample looks to show the artist when you go into they have an idea what kind of style you’re aiming for.
I would go in with a fresh face and maybe a list of questions you might have.  They will generally do one side of your face and instruct you as to what technique you need to replicate the same thing on the other side.  It’s fun and it’s  incredible how fast you can progress in your makeup skills with a little instruction.
also, don’t be afraid to write notes so once you’re home you can remember the steps and techniques.

@JamieBucc Sephora employee here.

It depends on what service you get. Make sure to bring a picture of some looks you want to create or learn how to do.

Re: Considering a Beauty Lesson

I'm 71 and not transitioning officially.  The people I've dealt with at Sephora have been very helpful, and friendly and listened to my concerns.  And it was a very fun experience.  Try it!
