Welcome to the 2024 Masking Challenge!
This year is going to be a little different - simplified. Easy. Every month will have a new theme, and that's it. Feel free to join in whenever and wherever. Most importantly - have fun!
Spring Fling - Baskets and bouquets, showers of much-anticipated rain...this month's focus is herbal and floral sensory delights ๐ฎ
January | Fresh Starts - Time for a re-set, or morning masking? However you see it, this month is all about new beginnings. |
February | Winter Love - Whether it's a mask you adore, or something extra-special to care for dry winter skin, this month is for some soothing TLC. |
March | March Madness - Competition is in the air! Find a $ dupe of a $$$ mask that is share-worthy? Or find a dupe that works even better than the original? Details, please! |
April | Spring Fling - Baskets and bouquets, showers of much-anticipated rain...this month's focus is herbal and floral sensory delights. |
May | Dew Drops - May Day lore says to wash your face in the dew you collect in the morning of the first day of May for radiant skin. This month is for absorbing all of that good-for-you H2O. |
June | Summer Sunshine - Ice cream, sunglasses, SPF, check! Once the sun is down (or before it's up), extra care is most necessary. How do you give your skin cooling repair? |

Thank you @Aaliaa for starting this thread, and giving us a place to share our love for masks๐
I almost always forget the blanket stuff, @Weetart! Luckily this year, I was looking for something else in the closet and came across the bin with this so it could be enjoyed haha!
Oooh, the print your blanket sounds fun @Weetart!!! Love blankets; theyโre so comfy and cozy. โฅ๏ธ Halloween snuck up on me this year. ๐๐ป
@quspork Sounds like a lot of great masking! So happy you liked the Peripera mask! I'm trying to get through some earlier expiring masks before I get into these, but I may have to sneak a couple in soon, because I'm getting impatient ๐
Love that Papa Recipe mask! Glad to hear it's a constant repurchase for you too!
I agree with you on the Mitomo mask (as well as the others I've tried from the line) - great artwork, but seem more like filler-type masks.
Yessss, I'm right there with you on the impatience for certain masks, @Shosh85. I reorganized all of mine by expiration back at the beginning of the year and have been good for the most part, but now I'm down to the last few that need to be used before the end of the year and every time I go to pull one- there's a newer one that I really want to grab instead!
@quspork Yeah, it's all the 10 packs I bought that are killin' me - especially the ones I feel "meh" about. I'm telling myself no more 10 packs unless I've already tried it and know I love it. Another reason TJ Maxx and Marshall's are dangerous places for me to shop ๐ฌ๐
@quspork Great reviews on the masks! The papaya one seems interesting.
@quspork hanalei lip balms are so good. I have a ...few๐ they are thick like the bite OG version
This is just the kind of comment I need to push me over the edge into building a cart, @sonnydee.
So, I thank you even if my wallet does not. ๐คฃ
@quspork Thanks for the reviews. The cool lime looks really appealing. I know I've tried at least one of the papa recipe honey masks, but I'm not totally sure if it was the original.
The lime was definitely a nice refreshing mask, @PrettyPaint and I love most of the Papa Recipe honey masks. The honey butter was a favorite, but I think that version was discontinued ::sad face::
Another Jelly mask ๐ This one was gifted to me from the lovely @mrsmouse! @ShortErica also posted a wonderful review about it just recently. ๐
Kina Cosmetics Jelly Essence Nourishing Face Mask
Material: Thin and meshy cotton
Serum: Thick jelly essence - I loved it!
Scent: Light and fruity. My first impression was that it smelled mostly like cucumber with maybe a hint of watermelon - but neither of those are listed in the ingredients (and I remember ShortErica said she thought it smelled floral), so I must just be crazy. Floral would make more sense ๐คช
Fit: The fit was a little off- A bit too wide by the temples, little too long at the chin/jawline and the mouth hole was a bit too big. Despite all the smooshing and folding I did, the mask was pretty comfortable to wear and adhered well
Wear Time: About a half hour
Tack: Kinda sticky and lasted about 30 minutes. Not ideal, but it doesn't usually bother me.
Results: There was a little bit of pilling, but my skin felt nicely moisturized and hydrated with a little bit of plumpness.
Repurchase? Maaaybe - the results were nice, but I wasn't too crazy about the pilling. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to use again though! I think I'd agree with ShortErica - I wouldn't pick it up if it was in a pack, but I would if it were being sold in singles. I liked that Sodium Hyaluronate, Caviar extract and Cica was so high up in the ingredients. It's also great when put in the fridge beforehand ๐
Ingredients:
I liked this one @Shosh85 but there's some better jelly ones out there
@Shosh85 I need to add this to my try list!!
@ather Definitely a great one to try if you like jelly! ๐
Jelly sheet masks are always the bomb @Shosh85 ! I wish I could say the same for jelly sleeping masks... as I have expressed repeatedly over reviews.
@Weetart I agree, I definitely love the jelly! Not sure if I've tried a jelly sleeping mask before - if you could remind me, what is it that you don't like about them?
Ha ha I am laughing at your comments on the scent, @Shosh85! Sometimes I second guess myself when others describe a scent completely different from what I experienced. Just an excuse to try it again, lol โบ๏ธ
@eshoe Haha! Yeah, sometimes the scent can be tricky! I definitely feel like this one deserves another sniff test ๐
