Flaky nose but oily skin

So I have a need to constantly exfoliate my nose because it gets flaky very easily. Suddenly the skin just seems to be dry and break, but I do not have very dry skin. In fact I got large pores on my nose and I tend to be shiny. My skin is not very sensitive so it doesn't seem to be too bothered with exfoliation (I don't to it as much as I would want though, considering the flakiness)

Should I just continue exfoliating a lot or could there be other ways to prevent the dry nose? I do moisturize every day but I do not have a proper "skin care routine".

Lastly, I can't help but think that my skin might be more of a "combination" skin due to this. My skin feels a bit tight after cleansing, showers, etc, and I just feel a strong need to moisturize but maybe this is normal even for oily skin. Just want to have a clue when buying skincare..

RE: Flaky nose but oily skin

Your situation sounds more intense than mine, but I used to have oily skin and also flakes around my nose and between my brows. My friend that works at a Sephora told me that my skin was overly dry (hence the flakiness) and my body’s natural response was to produce more oil. Totally makes sense right?? I started seeing a difference when I boughtthe Fresh Rose Toner. Definitely didn’t expect a toner to change my skin in that way, but no more flakes and I’ve noticed a decrease in oiliness too. Hope this helps!

It sounds like you have seborrheic dermatitis. Try Selsum Blu shampoo. Apply over the face for 5 minutes then wash off. If that doesn’t work, a trip to your dermatologist may be in order. Hope this helps!

Re: Flaky nose but oily skin

I'm not sure. I think my sister has that though, she has been mentioning that skin condition at least and she used to be flaky and have red patches where her skin looked irritated like the ones I saw when I googled now. The patchiness kinda looked like that too.

My skin doesn't look irritated at all, it just starts to peel of a little on my nose all the time. But maybe that can be the same condition anyway, I have no idea.

Thank you for the reply 🙂
