Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Often people ask for recommendations on a skincare routine or for specific products/combinations.  This might be a place to share your everyday skincare, both AM and PM.  A skincare "what are you wearing" as it were.  Hope this is useful.

*Age - 40

Skin type - oily/combination

Current skin condition - quite dehydrated (winter/indoor heating)*

01/17/16 - AM skincare in the order I used

1. Nude Jelly cleanser (love)

2. Pixi Glow tonic (5% glycolic toner - love)

3. Omorovicza Queen of Hungary Spritz (sample)

4. Radical Skincare Youth Infusion serum - hydrating and anti-ageing (new to me.  Testing)

5. Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream (like)

6. Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine cream (really like as an AM moisturizer)

I will try to post PM skincare tonight so the post can be comprehensive.

General comments - Okay skin.  Apparently the age between 38-42 is a transformational time in hormones (dehydrated skin/spots), so I am more aware of how my skin performs/reacts .  My skincare definitely has more "actives" now than before.

RE: Hi everyone! Hope it has been a relaxing weekend for all....

Hi, I have always wanted to try the pixi mist. Does it hydrate your skin? And can you apply it on top of makeup? I tried Tatcha dewy skin mist and it was awful, it was like straight up oil and it is super heavy and made my makeup slide off. But, I have read that the pixi mist could be an alternative to the tatcha dewy skin mist but I don't know, what do you think about it?

Re: RE: Hi everyone! Hope it has been a relaxing weekend for all....

@Rohtd@sister13

I don't use any Tatcha products, so can't say much about how it compares.  But I love the Pixi Mily mist.

I use spritzes like Pixi after acid (to knock the edge off) and before an oil or serum (to have something to adhere to, and to help massage oils in).  The Pixi mist is a hydration booster.  It is a good layering product.  I find my skin enjoys multiple layers of hydration as it is often dehydrated.  However, I would not use the Hydrating mist on its own and expect my skin to be hydrated.   Mists are just boosters - they work best when layered.  On their own....they would feel like nothing.

Pixi does not feel oily at all.  I have not used it over makeup (I never use sprays over makeup), so I can't tell.  I am sure you will feel an immediate hydration once you spritz, but it won't last long.  The mist is mostly water (and hyaluronic acid yes) so when it evaporates it takes some of the effect away.  But it would still be useful.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Age: 22

Skin Type: Dry but acne prone

Goals: Currently trying to even skin tone and up my anti-aging game. Idk what to do about my dark circles

Recently finished a course of Accutane. Best decision I've ever made! I haven't had A SINGLE cystic flare up since beginning my course in January 2017. Now, I rarely get ANY pimples at all. Period.

AM Lineup:

Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel

Murad Essential C Toner

Trish McEvoy Beauty Booster Serum

Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration (the one in a jar because it's thicker and more moisturizing)

Sunscreen- My favorite is Elta MD UV Clear, currently working through a bottle of La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 50

PM Lineup is similar to my AM with a few additions...

PM Lineup:

Boscia Makeup Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil (incredible if you like to wear a bunch of makeup)

Boscia Purifying Cleanser

Murad Essential C Toner

Trish Mcevoy Beauty Booster Serum

Philosophy Anti Wrinkle Miracle Worker (black jar)

Shiseido Beneficiance Wrinkle Resist 24

Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream- trying to give my hands more love, also sunscreen them daily

Exfoliants and Masks:

Peter Thomas Roth Max Complexion Pads (I used these more before when I had cystic breakouts and found they would speed up healing)

Boscia Exfoliating Gel Peel

Glamglow Youthmud Treatment

Caudalie Instant Detox Mask

Caudalie Moisturizing Mask

Looking to add a Vitamin C serum to my mornings, a retinol at night, and ANYTHING (procedural or product) to help with dark circles. LOVE PRODUCT RECS ❤️

AM Routine:

1. Cleanse: CVS Beauty 360 Illuminating Cleanser or Origins' Checks and Balance

2. Tone: The Body Shop British Rose Jelly Toner

3. Serum: The Body Shop Anti-imperfections Tea Tree Solution (not so much a serum, but it'll do)

4. Oils: Sonia Kashuk Radiant Oil Boost

5. Moisturize: Clinique's Dramatically different moisturizing gel

6. Protect: Boost's Soltan SPF 50 Moisturizer

PM routine:

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Age: 23

Skin Type: Combo

Current Skin Condition: Generally my skin is dehydrated as well

AM Skincare:

1. Skin Laundry Gentle Foaming Face Wash

2. Skin Laundry Antioxidant Toner

3. May Coop Raw Sauce

4. Drunk Elephant C Firma Day Serum/Ole Henriksen Truth Serum (depends on what I have on hand)

5. Dr Dennis Gross C + Collagen Eye Cream

6. Ole Henriksen Sheer Transformation

7. Drunk Elephant Umbra SPF 30

My nighttime skincare gets confusing because I use different products on different nights depending on how much/if I wore makeup that day so I'll list everything I use during the week.

Makeup Removers:  IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Makeup, Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, Sephora Collection Coconut Water Wipes

Cleansers: Origins Checks & Balances Frothy Face Wash, Skin Laundry Gentle Foaming Face Wash

Exfoliators: Clarisonic Mia 1, Ole Henriksen Pore Sauna Scrub

Toner: Skin Laundry Antioxidant Toner

Essence: May Cool Raw Sauce

Serum: Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum, Josie Maran Argan Oil & Argan Oil Light (technically not serums but that's the step I use them for)

Eye Cream: Algenist Complete Eye Renewal Balm

Moisturizers: IT Cosmetics Confidence In A Cream, Murad City Skin Overnight Detoxifying Moisturizer

I've been trying to do a mask as often as I can so my favorites I rotate through depending on my skin's needs are the GlamGlow SuperMud, Fresh Umbrian Clay Mask, Karuna Hydrating Sheet Mask, Sephora Collection Sheet Masks, and Sephora Collection Clay Masks

General Comments: I do a lot at night and I know that I do but it keeps my skin in great condition and I rotate through products because my skin has a tendancy to get accustomed to products so eventually they don't work for me anymore so I find that rotating products keeps my skin from getting too familiar with something.

Re: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Morning:  Cleanse with Cetaphyl cleanser, SkinMedica Vitamin C serum, Skinmedica physical face sunscreen

Evening: Cleanse with cleansing oil (the brand varies), use either SkinMedica AHA/BHA cleanser or Jan Mirini Biogolycolic Face Cleanser.  Follow Up with Retinol product from doctor and Avene moisturizer for face.

Twice a week I'll use the AHA/BHA Peeling Solution from The Ordinary.  On those nights I'll cleanse with Cetaphyl (after the oil cleanser).  Following the peel I'll use the SkinMedica TNS Recovery Complex.

I'm awful at using eye cream and usually forget.

20 with blemished, combo skin. I tried to cut out products I don't need every day but this is my general lineup! I swap out my serum every two weeks with a brightening serum. It's helped cut my oils a lot.

RE: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum (every few days, I break out if used more often) 4. Dr. Jart Water Fuse Hydro Soothe Eye Gel 5. Shiseido Ibuki Refining Moisturizer Night: 1. RE: Daily Skincare - what are you using?

I am almost 21, and have combo skin. I have an oily tzone, and sensitive acne prone skin everywhere else. These are some of my favourite skincare items at the moment. I start off by using makeup wipes, I don't always use Sephora Collection, I buy many different brands.. basically what's cheapest. I absolutely loooovvvee ExfoliKate cleanser by Kate Somerville! Smells sooo good and makes my skin feel so soft and clean. Also really really like the Estée Lauder toner as it gentle and smells good. I found it at Winners (Canadian version of TJ Maxx) for $17! Also found my facial cleansing brush at Winners too!AND Glow by Dr Brandt for only $20!! Winners has some awesome skincare. I also love EradiKate by Kate Somerville, as it is the only spot treatment that works for me! I don't use it every day, but when I do it works wonders. The No 7 eye cream is okay, nothing special, I will be purchasing a different brand when this one runs out. And lastly my Grease Lightning by LUSH, not gonna lie, I'm not really feeling this too much. I took this picture when I had just bought it, but I honestly don't care for it. It makes my skin feel tight, and it doesn't do anything for acne, and the pump sucks and squirts out a huge blob every time. I'm always trying new things and so far the only thing I continue to repurchase is my all time favourite ExfoliKate cleanser.

@lipstick4soul

Oskia Renaissance Gel cleanser has been a favoruite for ages.  I have a back up, always.  It is a gel that changes to an oil when massaged into the skin.  When I am traveling, this is often the only cleanser I take.  I like how it removes makeup too  if not too heavy(I don't wear eye makeup and very light base).

Re: Hi everyone! Haven't gotten around to popping in fir a wh...

I love that kind of formula. I use a balm most days because I wear sunscreen and mascara but not always in the mood for the fuss of a double cleanse.

does it need a washcloth to remove?

Re: Hi everyone! Haven't gotten around to popping in fir a wh...

@lipstick4soul

It is supposed to emulsify with water - but I never do.  I use a washcloth with all my cleansers, I prefer it that way.  I like the heat to soften skin and pores so I can extract or use an acid properly afterwards.
