@lmaster Haha, yeah, I'm not sure if I'm totally off base with what I was smelling, but it was interesting how the smell definitely reminded me of something I had smelled in the past.
Week 35 - Aug 26 - Sept 1 - I - Favorites Week
Continuing with my favorite brand, Yadah. I picked up a new to me Yadah mask from TJ Maxx this week...it's the honey one..Moisturizing Mask Pack.
A little background. I've been using the Holika Holika lazy all kill cleanser. It does a great job removing makeup and even stands one of the best chances vs. the tinted SPF I use. But it leaves my skin a bit squeaky clean. I always use a hydrating cleanser to follow up but today especially my skin felt like "moisturize me!"
My face:
Well this Yadah though not a bad fit, didn't compare to the others I've used (both this week and in the past ...if my memory is correct). I cannot pinpoint the scent. My husband said general sheet mask but there's something else. Not bad but a little odd and probably mostly driving me crazy since even looking at the ingredients I didn't have any lightbulb moments.
I wore the mask 25 minutes. The nose and philtrum were quite dry. The rest of the mask was still moist though. I massaged in the serum. The extra serum in the package I used on my neck, hands, and arms. My skin was somewhat tacky and stayed that way for a bit. I'd say 30 minutes+ later it was faded though a little sticky still.
Again, I'd describe my skin as even and smooth after removing the mask. Minus a little redness on my chin still showing, it looked nice. I'll have to see how moisturized it feels in the morning.
Grade: A-/B+. Still enjoy the Yadah but the confusing scent, not as up to par fit, and tackiness brings it down. I'll use my pack of 10 but wouldn't up this to a pack of 20 like I discussed doing on the TJ Maxx/Marshalls/Winners thread.
@ShortErica Oh, Yadah honey! Sorry it wasn't up to par, but I think I might still have to pick this up if I see it.
I don't blame you @emaisgr8. I'm trying to not buy masks this month but will totally make an exception for Yadah
Very interesting @ShortErica ! I didn't know that there was a honey yaddah until you mentioned it the other day. I'm still using the lazy egg wash at night to take off my make up/cleanse. I might still be the only person going who doesn't double cleanse so I like that it gets everything off. I tend to moisturize pretty heavily right after so I haven't noticed anything drying. I might wait a few minutes tonight before I moisturize to see if it's drying for me now.
Have you tried any of the Creme Shop oil cleansers? I see them at Winners a lot, and wondered how they'd be.
I haven't seen the Creme shop ones. My next up is the Erno Laszlo I found on clearance at TJ Maxx @missjeanie. I also have a fee other samples cleansers to try if they can be makeup removers or should stick to just a cleanser role. @eshoe mentioned the Yadah ones are nice for cleansing but not meant for removing makeup. I opened mine from you can will try it tonight since today was a bum around the house type of day. Let me know how the cleanser feels for you if you don't apply moisturizer right away.
I should also say @ShortErica , I’ve tried the ‘sensitive’ oil cleanser from EL and quite liked it. My face didn’t feel dry after using at all, rather it almost made me think the opposite, that it felt hydrating!
I just tried it out and haven’t put any moisturizer on yet @ShortErica . It’s been maybe 10 minutes? I’d say it feels a bit tighter, but nothing unbearable. I’m going to wait a bit longer and see. I should say I’ve only been using this one if I have makeup on. Otherwise I’m using the aloe from HH you sent. Something about the texture of that one is a win for me!
Yeah, the Holika Holika makes me feel a bit tight so I need to follow it with a hydrating cleanser before moisturizer @missjeanie. I just tried the Yadah. Feels tighter than with just a gentle cleanser but not like the HH. Feels dandy after moisturizer.
I'll be grateful to anyone who solves my scent mystery @lmaster
Love that your husband knows the 'signature sheet mask scent' too, @ShortErica.
This one seems decent enough, save for the amount of tackiness. Sounds like that cleanser might be a bit harsh for daily use?
Yep, I'm thinking because it can kinda tackle the tinted SPF that I will use it for that. But not a candidate for my daily cleanser @eshoe.
Have you tried a foaming cleanser @ShortErica ? I just saw one at TJ Maxx today, Lookatme-charcoal bubble foaming for $3.99. I loooove my foaming Yadah cleanser bc it is so gentle yet does some heavy duty cleaning.
@eshoe I've tried a garnier one. @missjeanie sent me the Yadah one that I need to try. Is it just for cleansing or does it remove makeup too? But generally I dont know about bubbles cause I have contacts and sensitive eyes. Plus they always get in my nose and mouth. So far the concept of an oil cleanser followed by a gentle one seems best for me but I'm still finding an oil that truly takes it all off. 🤷♀️
As far as acting as a makeup remover @ShortErica, that I don’t know. I always use an oil first (sometimes micellar water if I’m feeling really dirty) and then follow up with a cleanser. I wear contacts too, so I feel ya there. I used the Summer Friday’s R&R last week and got one of the exfoliating granules in my eye. Holy moly, it was awful😳 took awhile for my eye to get back to normal.
The Yadah I use is dispensed like the foaming hand soaps-it doesn’t bubble up any more than that. I have another one I use that is a gel and turns into a foam, but that is also very mild. Ive never had an issue with the bubbles going too close to my eyes. Bubbling sheet masks in the other hand, I tend to shy away from those!
Hahaha but also not funny about the granule in your eye. I've done that with other things too @eshoe. The one I have is a gel that will foam. Glad to know it is mild. Okay, I've got to give it a try and see how it does. Hopefully no squeaky clean, just regular clean. 😁
If @missjeanie sent you one already @ShortErica, it’s the perfect opportunity to try. I am just careful with the gel, I’ve never had one go off track like bubbling sheet masks tend to do😉
@eshoe @ShortErica I really enjoyed the EL oil cleanser too! I'd say they're both (the Yadah and EL) are good cleansers, just different. I even like the EL bar facial cleansers. At TJ's prices I'm game, at retail prices EL is out of my spend zone.
@ShortErica Thanks for the review. I haven't tried this one, but it drives me nuts when I can't figure out a scent. I laughed at your husband's "general sheet mask" description. That's interesting that your nose was dry - do you find this happens frequently for you?
@PrettyPaint yeah, sometimes he's helpful. 🤣 I would say the center (nose and philtrum areas) are generally what get dry if I wear a mask too long.
