Foil Challenge

I know we all talked about this but I need it in writing to hold myself more accountable! I have picked out around 28 foils that I am hoping to get through by the end of Feb. that’s 1 foil a day unless I decide to stack more than one! Here’s what I’ve picked randomly!

All skincare empties this month @ather; from brands I've used before, but all the products themselves were new-to-me. It's only been two months but it seems that 3 foil samples a month is the rate at which I'm moving through them. 😅

👍 The stone crop plant is an ingredient found in many of Eminence's star products. I'd never heard of it before learning about Eminence Organic Skincare about 8 or so years ago. The plant is said to help reduce pigmentation, firm, calm and regenerate skin. Eminence Stone Crop Cleansing Oil is a light, but slightly viscous, non-greasy oil that does a nice job of removing dust, dirt, sunscreen, and makeup, without leaving skin feeling tight or dried out. It has a green, herb-y scent that can take some getting used to. I like that it leaves my skin feeling soft and lightly hydrated, but with so many cleansing oils out there, I'm not sure this one stands out enough for me to pick up a full size. Of all the Stone Crop products from the brand, the mist is my favorite. 

❤️ Where have I been that this is the first time I'm trying the Sulwhasoo Essential Comfort Firming Cream? Given the price on this one, that is probably a good thing that I'm just now using it. It's lovely with its rich but not heavy whipped-cream-balm like consistency. It spreads easily and absorbs smoothly and quickly, leaving my skin bouncy/supple, hydrated, and with a soft glow. I'm pretty sure I have a deluxe sample size of this in at least one Sulwhasoo skincare discovery set and that should be enough to tie me over as I work through some other moisturizers that I have (and love) in my collection and that are probably better suited for the upcoming seasons. This one from Sulwhasoo though is on the short list for future moisturizer purchases, though I'm wondering if it might have been renamed and maybe it's the Sulwhasoo Essential Firming Cream 1.7 oz/50 mL  ?

Thank you @haleyvvvv! When it comes to skincare foils, I tend to pick up/keep and try/use products that I'm fairly certain will generally work for me, or be at least a like - I've learned my lesson after far too many years of way too many samples causing my skin to have an adverse reaction that I'm really careful and cautious of what products I choose to sample. I'd guess that a sample will be something I "like" 80% of the time when I do decide to get a sample. Whether I actually purchase a full size of it, however, doesn't have as high a success rate because I'm much more selective about that these days, especially if I already have similar products I love.

Me: hard to recall a Sulwhasoo skincare product I've tried that I didn't at least like, if not love 😍 

My wallet: "I'm not sure how "great" it is ... 💸💸💸"  😏😂

I'm kinda torn whether to pick up a full size of this one. I feel pretty good with the moisturizers I have (or will pick up later) for the rest of the year so I'm not sure where I'd put this into my routine. I'm trying not to keep or bring in more products than I will actually use within a reasonable period of time. Much easier said than done but I want to make an effort to keep to that. I have a mini gwp set from Sulwhasoo that I *think* includes a deluxe sample of this moisturizer so I may pull that out at some point to to see how I like it vis-a-vis another moisturizer I'm using or will be using.

@itsfi I totally get it. If you already have moisturizerd that work with you it is definitely hard to justify getting something new. I am in the same boat. You never know...by the time you use up your current stash, there could be other products you may want to try. I also have the deluxe sample set. I will make sure to try this out (when I get to it 😆).

Yes, you do get it @Mellmars1185! I used to wonder whether I might be missing out on something better by not trying out the next thing, and, that thought does cross my mind on occasion with certain new launches still. I just don't always jump at purchasing (or even sampling) all the newness all the time. Which is fine because even with reining it in, I still have plenty of products to work my way through, older tried-and-true and newly launched products. 😂

@itsfi  3 is a great number!! Much higher than 0! Oooo all new. That’s fun!!! Hmm I feel like you are right it had to be renamed! I feel like I have tried it before too. Or the foil looks very familiar!! Great job!

So true @ather! I should have more foils next month; I've been working on some but just haven't finish using up all the product in them - some of the hair ones hold a lot of product in them! Not a complaint, just an observation.

@itsfi  Makes sense!!! I agree hair products can take time to use up! But grateful that the foils hold so much product!

I found a bunch of foils and I have a little over a 100 which feels like too much. I'm going to not pick up any more samples or try not to and try to use up 100 foil samples this year. 

Mixed bag with these. The fresh cleanser 👍 but I dunno if it’ll be strong enough for spring-summer when I’m even more oilier. The kopari is too strong, too drying. Summer Fridays didn’t do much, kinda meh. Not a strong start to 100 foils but it's better than nothing? 4/100

@shaeschaeshea I love your 100 foils idea and I think I may be a bit of a copy cat and try to do this as well!  I always forget how many I have then when I actually go to look at them... it's gotten out of hand.

This is a great start @shaeschaeshea! That's a good strategy to not pick up more, can be challenging but it would definitely help with paring down your stash. These are all skincare foils, is that the majority of your foil samples or is that what you like to try more?

I am trying to be more mindful this year about using foils. I feel like I have been hoarding them for vacations. I have been able to use them for travel. However, I think it makes sense to use what I have at home. I have a travel pack I got from the Dollar Store that I can use to fill up containers. I don't have a goal of how many I will use.

I've also been saving mine for travel, but that's been less for me the last few years. Good reminder to use them up, @Mellmars1185 !! Nice job on the usage!!

@haleyvvvv Thank you very much! I am so tempted to open a new full size moisturizer when I am done my current one. I think I will stick to foils for a while before opening. Maybe I will keep 5-10 (of each category) on hand incase of travel.

I am so excited to do this, I just placed an order and got the lunar new year gift set plus a few other samples already. I've always collected clothing I just refound my love and obsession for makeup... Can't wait to be a part of the community and show you guys what I get ♥️
