This week my mani is my first attempt to do an ombré nail effect. I used Zoya PixieDust Waverly (deep blue), and Levi (beige gold). Being so granulated, I felt they could be more forgiving.

I've had some PixieDust ombre ideas but haven't done them yet because of all the cleanup I'll need afterward. 🤣 That's also why I haven't sponged on polishes in general this year, even though I have liquid latex—which I don't like using because it's sometimes a hassle to remove. But you've inspired me to PD-ombre at least a couple nails in the near future. 💙🤍

Thank you @WinglessOne beautiful! I didn’t use any sponge. I painted the base color and then, with the blue, I removed as much polish as I could from the brush and started painting the nail starting from the tip and when I had almost nothing left on the brush I went further up the nail. And if it was a little too much, I cleaned it with my finger (lazy and unsophisticated 😁, it can be with an old cloth or similar so you don’t get your fingertips dirty) So, as you can see, it is a pretty hassle free mani that didn’t create much of a mess. The use of sponges is a too advanced method for me just yet 😅. That’s why I chose the PixyDust, because the texture is very forgiving. 😊

@Saradestin  Ah, good to know! Sounds and looks like the PDs are as easy to ombré as jellies are. (Jellies don’t require sponges either.) This reminds me it’s been a long time since I did a jelly ombré… note to self! 

Sponging isn’t hard, just very messy. 😂 I’m sure you’ll quickly get the hang of it once you’re ready to try.

ZOMG, I've never thought about doing an ombre with the Pixies 💡 What a fantastic idea, and it turned out amazing!
