It’s March, and here in the BIC that can only mean one thing… 🥁… It’s time to celebrate the anniversary of one of our favorite activities: MAKEUP MADNESS! Yes, we’re bringing back this fan-favorite challenge for the third year in a row, where our beloved makeup categories go head-to-head in the ultimate showdown to earn the crown of Community Champion. 👑
This year, we’ve retired our previous winners – Mascara (2021) and Lipstick (2022) – and brought in a mix of some new and old categories to face off in some fierce competition. It’s up to YOU to vote on the winner … and share some tried-and-true beauty recs along the way (that’s what we’re really here for, after all).
Don’t know how to play? It’s easy! TO VOTE, hit the reply button below and tell us which category you’re voting for AND tag a product you love that represents the category you’re voting for during that week. For example, @GeorginaBT loves a tingly lip moment, so she might reply with “Lip Plumper! My new fave is Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb Heat Universal Lip Luminizer + Plumper Hot Chocolit."
Let the games begin! Each new round of voting starts Fridays, and ends the following Thursday at 2pm PT:
Hit “Reply” below and vote for your favorite product in this week’s round, use the “#” sign to tag a specific one you love, then check back for the results and the next round of voting!
UPDATE 4/21/23: Thank you to everyone who voted for their beauty faves in Makeup Madness 2023! This year's champion is EYESHADOW! Knowing how much the BIC loves dazzling eye palettes, it's hard to deny eyeshadow's place as this year's champ! Here were Community members' top-tagged eyeshadows from your votes throughout the challenge:
Also, just for fun, let's take a look at the top-tagged product from all the Makeup Madness categories this year! Check out your faves:
Thanks for playing!
This is a great product @CarolBT , I love it!! Such an amazing multitasker!
Congrats to the first stage winner *lip liner* 🎉
This week I am on team Primer 😁
Setting Spray is great but I need primer. Primer helps to make my eyeshadows work. They stand out better and go on smoother. Primers make my skin look nicer too 😋
My favorite primers are,
#The Ordinary High-Adherence Silicone Primer 1 oz/ 30 mL
#MILK MAKEUP Mini Hydro Grip Hydrating Makeup Primer 0.33 oz/ 10 mL
#Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40 PA+++ 2.5 oz/ 73.9 mL
I haven’t tried The Ordinary’s primer @CynthieLu. How do you like it?
My face likes The Ordinary primer @Saradestin I just use a tiny amount and it covers my whole face. I like the price point on it 😋 and it agrees with my skin. It's not very grippy like others but I can wear it all day without any issues.
Thank you for the feedback @CynthieLu gorgeous! 😘
@CynthieLu good point! I'm voting for primer. Is the milk for your eye shadow?
@greeneyedgirl107 ... Haven't tried, but there's an eye primer MILK MAKEUP Hydro Grip Eyeshadow and Concealer Primer
@danielledanielle I didn't know that! Thanks for the heads-up! 👁
I think the Milk is more grippy but I've used them both for my eyeshadow @Anonymous7 I just use a pea sized amount of The Ordinary and use it for my whole face, I like that one and the price on it is amazing 😉
( Unseen is so easy to wear and use, but sometimes I use a different sunscreen and I need to add a primer after. )
@CynthieLu good to know! I had no idea that TO had a primer. I like that price point, too!
I knooo right, a good price point is everything 🙌 @Anonymous7 I haven't tried it, but they have another one too, #The Ordinary High-Spreadability Fluid Primer 1 oz/ 30 mL
@CynthieLu you know about all the goodies!
Face primer! My favorite is a little untraditional since it's actually a sunscreen, but it blurs my pores and keeps me shine-free like no other! Supergoop! Mineral Mattescreen SPF 40 Mineral Sunscreen 1.5 oz / 45 mL
@AlexBT, I love using my sunscreen as face primer! 😍
@Saradestin haha fair enough.. it's not too late to change your vote 😉 Mattescreen is especially primer-y though!! in my opinion it's more of a primer with SPF than a traditional sunscreen!
@Saradestin, I count sunscreen as sunscreen not as primer but I do double up on it and often use it as primer. One less step to the routine.
Yes, for me sunscreen is sunscreen but I use them as primers as well, because I rarely use primers (I must be too lazy 😅 @itsfi )
@Saradestin, you have company in that camp - I’m all about the lazy but effective / efficient routine. 😂
@itsfi 😁👍
I personally need to do both because I have very dry skin and need the extra moisture from both products! I been loving Danessa Myricks beauty Yummy skin Glow serum for before makeup and for setting I use Charlotte Tilbury Air Brush flawless setting spray.
