Lips on Lock 🔐: List Your Lip Combos 💄👄

There's a post every other day about the best lip combo (keep them coming!) I've gotten to love lip contouring/ombre lips more than I thought I would, and I of course, need to justify a use for some of these lip liners/glosses/lipsticks etc...😶💄🤫

I also can't remember half of them, so if this a thread where I'm replying to myself 🤷🏽‍♀️, at least I'll have a list

Feel free to list your fave combos, also consider putting in your lip color  (pink, brown, dual colored, rosy, etc) and aesthetic /style/look to help others lockdown their combos.

Lips: Naturally more pigmented; double lips, more prominent along lower lip; fuller lower lips. Lips have become drier and show more lines as I've aged.

Look: plummy brown 2.0 - a more streamlined and easier-to-put-together plummy brown lip. I liked the idea of plum-based brown look I created with the Kulfi Lucky Lotus blush (Plummy Brown Lips 1.0) but wanted to try to recreate something similar with products I had or would be more inclined to purchase (while the formula on the Kulfi blush is nice, there's just so much product in that tube, more than I'll ever be able to use, especially in that shade).

This pairing has a smoother and more emollient finish, and the Capricorn shade on my lips has more of a reddish-plum undertone to it, which I (surprisingly) actually like. The lip oil tones it down a bit and brings out the plummy hue.

The Lowdown:

1. Line - Line lips with MERIT Signature Lip Sheer Lip Liner Capricorn* and blend / diffuse color from line onto the entire lip with pad of ring finger. Repeat, if necessary, until desired hue and depth of color is achieved.
2. Top with Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Fenty Treatz Hydrating + Strengthening Lip Oil Cacao Cherry. 

* The shade Capricorn is described as a "rich brown". Swatched on the back of my hand, it shows up as pretty much as described though a little deeper than the photo shows and with some grey in it . On my lips, however, I get this slight red-plum hue with it used as a liner (one pass) and diffused. 

Merit Capricorn (lined & blended)

Love it or Leave it: Lovin' it, A LOT! Capricorn was part of the Sephora Favorites It's Giving Nude Lip Set (limited edition). I swatched the shade when Merit Capricorn first released its liner collection and knew it was a dark brown, but thought it would be fine if I applied it with a light hand (and it is). I didn't expect this shade to take on the slightly more red hue that it does on my lips. Not complaining, I do like the shade quite a bit, on its own and topped with the Fenty lip oil.

Thank you @Samtian; I've been discovering all sorts of things while shopping and working my way through my stash! I would never have thought the Merit liner would look the way it does on my lips.

The Fenty lip oil doesn't get the love it deserves IMO, but I feel like you gave it some XOXO here and it looks awesome! @itsfi

It's so good @danielledanielle!! Yeah, it is underrated, both among the Fenty collection as a whole and lip oils in general. It fits nicely in that shiny, glossy, juicy lips look all while being moisturizing but without being a magnet for my hair even when it's windy out. I've been reaching for it a lot, with this liner but also just on its own when I'm out for a quick errand or a run long walk 😅 or even topping my Laneige lip mask with it on particularly cold nights.

Thank you @lmaster; I was not expecting the liner to show up like it does on my lips - no complaints at all but it's making me want to go back through my richer/deeper brown shades to see if they'll lean this way as well. The things we discover when we shop our stash!

@KrysTevanne, the Happy Thoughts lip gloss is the purple shimmery one, right? Oh, that would make such a gorgeous combo over the HB Baby Pink and MUFE liner. 😍 How are you finding the plumping effect on that gloss? I have some of the older shades from the collection and had heard that some of the newer ones have more of a tingle but have yet to pick up a newer shade. Do you find that the plumping aspect of the gloss tingles or stings a lot?

My go to combo as of late

Cheekbone Beauty Horizon Lip Pencil Earthy #withEADEM Le Chouchou Exfoliating + Softening Peptide Lip Balm in Croissant au Beurre 

Prior, I'd use Ami Colé Café Touba, but I like the terracotta of earthy on me, doesn't give me filler lips

 

And today, we test drove this

Sephora Collection Best Lip Combo Ever in Deep Nude and Gucci Velvet Matte Lipstick 123 - Auroral Amber tapped in...I know, why not get the satin? I like the idea of a tint as the matte wears away, but I got this. Slightly drying, but lasted all day
