Lips on Lock 🔐: List Your Lip Combos 💄👄

There's a post every other day about the best lip combo (keep them coming!) I've gotten to love lip contouring/ombre lips more than I thought I would, and I of course, need to justify a use for some of these lip liners/glosses/lipsticks etc...😶💄🤫

I also can't remember half of them, so if this a thread where I'm replying to myself 🤷🏽‍♀️, at least I'll have a list

NOTE: Kulfi Lucky Lotus is a veeeeerrrry pigmented purple - the swatch is heavily, HEAVILY blended out.

Lips: Naturally more pigmented; double lips, more prominent along lower lip; fuller lower lips. Lips have become drier and show more lines as I've aged.

Look: plum-based brown - Lancome made a lipstick in a similar hue, over 10, maybe even 15+ years ago - it was a while ago but I feel like the color is always in the back of my mind when I'm out shopping for lipsticks. I've even tried checking 3 Custom Color Specialist but they don't have the shade in their database. This is close to the color of that Lancome lip color.

The Lowdown:

1. Lip Prep - exfoliate, moisturize & lightly line lips with rom&nd 05 Taupey Shade* & blend out with lip brush (or fingers), focusing on Cupid's Bow & outer corners. I sometimes exfoliate and heavily moisturize my lips the night before as part of my evening skincare routine, so my prep routine in the morning is to carve out my lip shape with the rom&nd liner and blend.
2. Line - Line lightly with Rhode lip contour pencil (spin). Press lips together to distribute line color to lips. Lightly pat with pad of ring finger to further blend ad diffuse color and fill lips.
3. Fill color - Apply a little more of the Rhode spin to middle of lips and blend out with fingers with a teensy bit of Kulfi Mehndi Moment Long-Lasting Radiant Cream Blush Lucky Lotus. Repeat to get desired color.
4. Top with lip gloss or balm, or a glossy balm like CAY SKIN Isle Lip Balm SPF 30 with Sea Moss and Aloe Stem Cells Clear.

* I wrote up this blurb when I first started trying this lip combo, about a month or so ago and since then I've discovered, in shopping my stash, that Melt Cosmetics Slick Waterline Eye Pencil Ivory and a eyeshadow crease brush do a better job than the rom&nd 05 Taupey Shade of outlining/overlining my lips in the cooler months when whatever hint of color I may have picked up in the summer begins to fade away.

Love it or Leave it: I like the color a lot and the feel and formula is better for my lips now than the Lancome formula from way back when was. I won't, however, purchase a full size of Kulfi Lucky Lotus just to recreate the lip color - it's just too much product for me. I have a few of these sample cards and a little goes a long way with the blush so I will be able to put this lip look together a handful of times more. 👍

@itsfi  interesting...I may have accidentally picked up Kulfi Mehndi Moment Long-Lasting Radiant Cream Blush Lucky Lotus because it's on sale (sale on sale 🙌🏽), but totally think it's going to go pink on me, I believe that's what happened with the foil, now I have something else to consider

I also like for your combo your lip color actually brightens it, because looking at your swatches, I expected something very cool and it's this neutral plummy berry (looks so good)

This combo made true browns and deep purples on the lips more approachable to me.

@itsfi  this is such a pretty lip combo! Love that kind of muted plummy color you achieved, and I love that you figured out how to recreate the shade of that long-ago Lancome lipstick. Wow, it seems like you've got your lip routine down, good for you! I'm definitely still figuring out what works for me 😅

I kind of want to try something similar to this combo now - I pulled out both Kulfi Mehndi Moment Long-Lasting Radiant Cream Blush Lucky Lotus  and Kulfi Mehndi Moment Long-Lasting Radiant Cream Blush Blessed Berry  for Shop Your Stash / Use Your Stash Challenge: Fall 2025 🍂🍁  so this would be a perfect experiment to try with one (or both) of them! Ack!!! So sorry, I meant to tag you on this one @caitbird - for the purple and the Kulfi blushers. Sorry about that. Definitely give this a try; it's a good way to put those blushers to use, in addition to using them as blush. It's fun experimenting with different combinations and you get your own customized shade. That berry shade you have would look beautiful mixed with several lip colors I bet.

@itsfi  no worries! I found it anyway, haha, so all good! 😊 I haven't really experimented much yet with mixing products to get customized shades, but I'd like to try doing it more often. I'll have to look through my lip collection and brainstorm some combos that might go with those Kulfi blush shades...🤔

@caitbird, definitely give it a try; I learned about mixing blush and balm from another BIC’er during a few years back on the pan it challenge when I was trying to pan a powder blush. 😮

Several recent combos that turned out to be very comfortable. My lips have felt so dry lately and I was searching for solutions with decent color. I really love the Prada lip balm. @blackkitty2014 convinced me to try it, thank you! 😘

@Sunnysmom  loving these combos! I feel you on the dry lips this time of year 😓 The Jones Road + Prada combo make such a pretty burgundy-ish color, which I love for fall (or anytime, haha)!

Nothing like a good comfy lip during dry weather @lmaster , ugh! Tho the Mary Phillips is teeny it really does feel terrific and the color is decent too.
