I'm developing a love for brushes of all kinds. I bought a few higher end brushes and they are amazing. They are incredibly soft and my makeup glides on like a dream. There are so many interesting shapes. I am really interested in creating a beautiful brush collection. Show your brushes and share any cleaning and storage tips and let us know which ones are your favorites.
@makeitup305 , thoughts? I feel like this is a pass, they've released a similar cheek brush (saibihoko )not too long ago, and they also had an angled version of the saibihoko brush that I hope comes back.
@danielledanielle I didn't pick it up or either of the saibihokos. I just didn't feel like I needed it. Maybe I'll need it later this year 😉
I wanted to recommend the most recent product I used to wash my brushes. It's from a Korean brand called the Tool Lab. You can find it on Amazon or Olive Young. I washed all of these brushes using the two 1.69 fl oz containers in the second picture. They're $8 each, so pretty expensive, but they go a long way. They rinse clean (no suds) and leave the brushes very soft. I'm definitely buying the larger sizes so I can get a better value.
😮🫣
ETA:
@danielledanielle Sonia’s blog post is up now and dang it, these are 4 brand new brush shapes (though a couple look similar to other Sonia G. brushes). And they’re kakishibu dyed bristles, with Sunset Cranes shaped black handles. And I wish one of them (Smooth Blender) was available separately; I’d happily buy that one solo.
Gonna read through Sonia’s comparisons now and try to talk myself off this ledge. Is anyone else thinking of buying this set?
EDIT: I hadn’t scrolled all the way through her write-up, so I missed the box these come in. Now I wish the previous LE set had cranes on the box. This 4-brush set is USD $210 and will hit Beautylish at 10 AM PT on June 25, so set your alarms for bot battle!
Ooo that’s such a pretty design, what’s the features of this brush or is it a set? It looks neat! @danielledanielle
@peculiarzmakeup According to the promo email (where the first image is from), it’s a limited edition Sonia G. eye brush set made of saikoho bristles with maki-e handles. We won’t know more until Sonia G. or Beautylish gives more details. Sonia usually does extensive write-ups about her new brushes at her blog, Sweet Makeup Temptations, so I’m waiting for that info.
Maki-e is a type of lacquer design where an artist paints an image with lacquer, then applies gold/silver/etc. powder to the lacquer before it dries. These brushes will be gorgeous in person.
@danielledanielle I keep telling myself “you already have Chikuhodo’s Fuji maki-e set so you don’t need these, nope, stop looking at the teaser, don’t even think about trying to get these, remember how hard it was to get the Sunset Cranes, don’t put yourself through that again.” Hopefully Sonia’s upcoming blog post won’t change my mind. 🤣
Thank you for this information I really appreciate it. I appreciate your knowledge and wisdom so much. You are great 😊 @WinglessOne
question! does anyone have the new fenty beauty foundation brush? i saw a video of it and it has no reviews but it looks sooo liek it works so well! ty in advance:)
Sorry for the delayed reply.
It's a nice brush, it was a little pokey at first, but after a deep cleaning, it's softened a bit. The teardrop shape is nice, but hasn't really added anything in terms of coverage. Someone with a different face shape than mine may find it more helpful. I love its density, it's not a dense as the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Kabuki-Buff Foundation Brush 115 one, but you can use it similarly. It eats up a bit of the foundation, but comparable to what a beautyblender would do... And eats up far less than the 115 which was always my qualm with that brush (and the drop cleaning needed thereafter). If you don't have anything similar in shape and density, you should be happy with it.
ok perfff ❤️🙏

Perfect!
My herculean task last weekend.
Before....
Like 1.5 hours later....
Wow that’s ALOT of brushes to clean and do fast @makeitup305❤️ how do you clean your brushes or have any tips? I would love to hear some!❤️❤️❤️
@happyskincare It was sometime between 1.5-2 hours I think. I use the Target Everspring dish soap and occasionally the Dawn Power Wash (for foundation and concealer brushes). I’ve used other soaps before but this one is affordable and doesn’t dry out my brushes. I scrub them gently on a Sigma mat and then rinse them (occasionally scrubbing as I rinse). I squeeze out the water gently and then dry them out using a paper towel or microfiber cloth. Then lay them flat to dry.
@makeitup305, that's an impressive number and assortment of brushes! Pretty swift cleaning time, too!!
@TraceyEB This is probably some of the fastest I’ve washed them, tbh. I think it’s usually 2 hours plus lol I think it was faster this time because I went lighter on the soap. Rinsing them always takes a long time and I end up having to re-rinse some at the end.
