Sephoria NYC 2023

Now that the word is officially out….who will be attending Sephoria NYC 2023 on September 29-30, 2023?

I won’t be able to attend in person this year (I plan to attend virtually) but I know other members who are already planning and going.  If I had to choose a session it would be session 3 with Patrick Ta and Natasha Denona. 

Please share your excitement and even photos and experience here if you do go.

Hi everyone, I am so excited! I just got my ticket. I have a 10 month old baby, should I bring her to the event or leave her with dad? I am going alone, thought it might be interesting for my daughter to see all the props at the event. But I am also worried it might cause sensory overload for her. Advices please. We live near the city so it'll be a subway ride there.

@phizzle I attended in 2018 and 2019 and it was almost sensory overload for me, so I think it would be very overwhelming for a baby unless they are really chill and unbothered by crowds - It's loud, bright and crowded. 2019 was far more crowded than 2018 and it was hard to walk through the venue because the lines at some of the booths were so long. The booths are also kind of a tight squeeze and I don't know if they allow strollers - I didn't see any at the sessions I attended.

You'll get to be fully immersed in the event if you go alone. Plus, you can always just take the baby with you on a regular shopping trip... I'm sure she won't notice much of a difference at that age. There may not be enough changing tables, the music might be too loud, she might feel crowded by strangers, the baby might have eating/drinking incidents, she (or other kids) might get fussy and irritable, etc., and that's not even considering the commute there and back.

@phizzle To each their own... but I wouldn't bring a child.  Only because I think that I would enjoy the experience less.  I would rather have my hands free to explore and carry goodies rather than hold my child.  The fine print also shows that bags/purses needed be under like 5"*7"... not much room for a diaper bag at that size.  There's no in and out during the times as well so if your little one was fussy, you wouldn't be able to leave and do a hand off and get back inside. Again, just my opinion.

@missjeanie  Can you screenshot the fine print on bag size? I’ve been all over the page trying to find it but can’t. I want to make sure the purses I take are small enough to not be an issue 😇

@gonerogue I believe I saw it originally when I got the tickets, however if you scroll all the way to the very bottom of the Sephoria2023 page you can click on terms and conditions in the super fine print.  I don't know how close they keep an eye on this, but 4.5 by 6.5 is not very big. I think my wallet alone is that.

@missjeanie @gonerogue Thanks for sharing this - In prior years, they had a clear bag policy, but I didn't see anyone really checking bag sizes (we did go through a metal detector in 2019, if I recall correctly). I want to say I took a Small Gucci Marmont bag and had no issues last time. It's really weird that they haven't sent us any reminders or "what to know before you go" this time.

@Tamara76  I seem to remember going purse-less the first year and I *think* I had my small Gucci with me the second year. I don’t remember a clear bag policy though? I guess I’ll wait until session 1 and 2 peeps give us the deets to make up my mind as to which mini purse to take

@Tamara76 Honestly this is the size of my wallet!  If you see me with a clutch that looks like its from Prom 1998..... don't judge! lol

@missjeanie 😂😂 I'll need to measure my bags, but I need to at least bring some basic personal items/touchup makeup, backup charger and light for my phone and meds - a wallet sized bag will not suffice for me. Hopefully they won't be too stingy about bag sizes as long as they're small  - they weren't in the past. Fingers crossed!!

UPDATE: All my small clutches are 9.5 in across. Who even has bags that are 5.5 x 6,5? In 2019, I saw girls bring in their entire YouTube camera setup with portable lights ... in camera bags.

I think a lot of people will be in for a shock since the bag size is only in the fine print

@Tamara76  Since you will be there Friday, will you let us know how it goes? My outfits don’t have pockets because apparently women don’t need pockets so a purse is a must have 😭

@missjeanie  I am deadly afraid of being turned away for this 🙄 I have small purses but not sure I have anything small enough that meets the requirements and can hold my phone and cards. Geeeesh, okay. Thank you for sharing with me ❤️ will I be seeing you next weekend??

So how do I get my swag home? Do I bring several small bags with totes inside them? 

Do I have my sister order me a Uber to get home?

@Tarabotti From what I understand the gift bag will be given at the end when you leave.  For samples from booths I've heard that in years past they give you a Sephora bag to hold them.

@gonerogue Yes, I was thinking the same thing.... I pulled out a tape measure to look and yikes... I hope they aren't there measuring too close!  I'm hoping they're just trying to avoid any large bags, understandably so.  Yes, I'm flying in on Thrusday and will be there for all four sessions! Very excited to see so many people in real life!
