Points expired...

I was about to check out on 1/1 around 2 AM but it was asking to verify my card number so I thought I'd do it in the morning when I woke up... I had already applied 500 points! I woke up and all my points were gone. I had no idea they expired - I received no emails or even a pop-up on the site to let me know they were about to expire. 2999 points that I've been saving up for years, gone. If I knew they would've expired in the ~10 hours I was asleep, I would've just gotten out of bed 😞 When did points start to expire? I signed up for Beauty Insider probably 10+ years ago and I thought points didn't expire. 

Feels really bad too since I recently opened a Sephora credit card and now I feel like there's no point in continuing shopping since my points are all gone and there's no Sephoras in my city.

Does anyone know if it's possible to get the points back just once?
