In store return after pay

After-pay in store return issue

I placed an order with Sephora and brought items to be returned to the store today. At the end of my return, the cashier refunded my debit card (the same one on my Afterpay account) The refund wasn’t reflected on Afterpay so I am still being charged the full amount. Does anyone know if Sephora will send Afterpay the information about my return? Sephora is saying that I am still responsible for paying after-pay? How does that make any sense? For example I bought something for 100$ , I owe this money to after pay. I return it and Sephora gives me the money back on my CC, so now I have my 100$ back. But now I still owe after pay 100$ which Sephora says I have to pay? How does that make any sense, I end up getting no money back at all and don't even get to keep my products? Please explain this to me
