What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185   It was a recipe to go along with dressing cold vegetable salads, like green beans, potatoes, etc.  I haven't tried it yet!

Re: What's on your plate?

That is such a wonderful accomplishment I bet it tastes delicious and it’s super meaningful because you made it. I hope you loved it 🙂 @Mellmars1185

Re: What's on your plate?

@peculiarzmakeup Thank you! I did enjoy it. However, nobody else in my house at the leftovers. So I got sick of it haha 😄

Re: What's on your plate?

I love pasta, this looks so fresh and I can imagine all the tasty flavors. 😍 @Mellmars1185

Re: What's on your plate?

@CynthieLu Thank you 🙏

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185 one of my favorite summer pasta dishes

Re: What's on your plate?

@CorgiMommy Thanks! It was really fresh. I added in bacon 🥓 for one meal too

Re: What's on your plate?

A sample of food from my recent trip to Costa Rica 😋

I posted most of the drinks on the What’s in your cup? thread.

Re: What's on your plate?

Such a beautiful and delicious selection I’m curious about what the whip cream was apart of! I’m a sweet tooth haha 🤣 @itsfi

Re: What's on your plate?

@peculiarzmakeup, a sweet tooth definitely comes in handy with large group dinners - someone to rely on to help with dessert! 😉 Oooh, that was a homemade vanilla bean ice cream, topped with a mango-infused whipped cream and caramel sauce. It is as decadent as it sounds. Someone else at the table ordered the flourless chocolate cake and at one point, half of my dessert was combined with half of that chocolate cake, and around the table it went for everyone to have a bite.

Re: What's on your plate?

@itsfi Uhh, that photo dump instantly made me want to go to Costa Rica 😅.

Re: What's on your plate?

@CookieGirl1, highly recommend Costa Rica!

Re: What's on your plate?

@itsfi oohhhhhh, that looks so amazing.

Re: What's on your plate?

@CookieGirl1, some days I'd be out and about all morning and afternoon and I loved being able to take some fruit with me to tie me over until I got back. Maybe not the most balanced lunch on the go, but as you can see from the photos of the other food, I got in my nutrients and was not lacking in opportunities to eat. 🤣

Re: What's on your plate?

@itsfi I hope that you had a glorious time there!

Re: What's on your plate?

@itsfi Wow these dishes look delicious, colourful and fresh!! I hope you had a wonderful trip 💗

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185, I was told beforehand not to have too high expectations for food but while I was there I kept wondering why they told me that because the food was delicious. It was a relaxing vacation; I felt like I did a fair amount of activities but still had good down time, too. 👍🏼 It was hard getting back to the routine of going to work. 😆

Re: What's on your plate?

That sounds like a lovely balance. Would you go back to the resort or recommend it? Everytime I return from vacation, I buy a lottery ticket lol @itsfi

Re: What's on your plate?

@Mellmars1185, I love your post-vacation tradition!! 💖

I would definitely go back and recommend the resort (let me know if you want more info and I can PM you). It's on the volcano side of Costa Rica so if you're into a beachy setting, you'd have to go to another part of the country. This setting was particularly relaxing for me and also offered activities, on site and off-site if/when I wanted.

Re: What's on your plate?

Oh wow, You had some fantastic meals on your vacation! 😍 Everything looks incredible @itsfi Did you have a favorite amung these meals?

Re: What's on your plate?

Ahhh, great question @CynthieLu! Dinner the last night (third row, first pic) was delicious, even the kiddoes thought so, as they asked whether they could have more of the filet mignon - I tell ya, those littles have some refined palates. 😅  The accompaniment was a baked mashed potato croquette on top of a pea (?) puree. I should have taken better care to note the menu description of the dish.

I also liked the blackened fish tacos (first row, third pic) but that might have been because I was out all day up until then and was so hungry by the time I got back - it was well past lunch service and before dinnertime, but the kitchen was super accommodating. The slaw that was part of the tacos was so good and paired nicely with the fish and the mango salsa. It ended up being my lunch and dinner.
