What's on your plate?

Hello there, ladies and gents!

Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:

"What's on your plate?"

The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!

For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.

Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.

For lunch today, I had:

-Brown rice

-Steamed egg

-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper

-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)

Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄

My brother and I were in the next town over and he'd never been to a brunch place called Abracadabra's. So we got French Toast for him and Omelet and Hashbrowns for me.

Mom is back home from trips so we were able to get a Hello Fresh box again. All of these were 4/4.

@lmaster Ooh those are fancy!

Re: What's on your plate?

They look delicious @lmaster! I want to start baking bread. I just bought two books and have everything except guts to get started lol. What recipe did you use for your starter?

Re: What's on your plate?

@makeitup305 thank you darlin! The best that worked for me,  and I tried many flours. But the best advice i can give is start small.  Ngl it took me over a month to get my starter strong, I recommend using 25 g of water to 10 g of rye flour and 15 g of unbleached bread flour. Feed once a day,  same ratio. When you get your jar more than half full, then discard at least half. When I bake bread, I do not use rye I only use bread flour. I only use rye in the starter.

Re: What's on your plate?

@lmaster looks yummy.  My first attempt at sourdougbread was a disaster

Re: What's on your plate?

@CorgiMommy thank you!! My first 4 attempts were highly questionable,  I think my sourdough starter wasn't quite ready but I just kept trying!

Re: What's on your plate?

@lmaster So delicious-looking!

Re: What's on your plate?

I didn't take a picture but this is the recipe that I cooked today. I had to improvise a little bit but it turned out delicious. It was the second time I made it (I improvised the first as well) and both times it's worked out. It's from What to Cook When You Don't Feel Like Cooking

My substitutions today were celery for the fennel bulb, extra maple syrup for the dates, and stuffed Kalamata olives instead of green pitted olives. I also sauteed a red onion along with the celery and the garlic. I didn't make the couscous but the sauce was delicious with plain white rice and roasted veggies. Last time I added mushrooms when sautéing and and that was delicious as well.

Re: What's on your plate?

My parents took me and my brother out to dinner last night for my birthday - I chose a local Mexican restaurant, where we've gone before, that has very good food.

My dinner - blackened salmon street tacos - so good!

and dessert - sopapillas with ice cream (also delicious!), which I shared with my parents.

@caitbird I could eat Mexican food every day. Birria tacos are my favorite.
