Hello there, ladies and gents!
Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:
"What's on your plate?"
The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!
For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.
Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.
For lunch today, I had:
-Brown rice
-Steamed egg
-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper
-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)
Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄
That looks so good @CorgiMommy! I’d devour that in an instant.
Yuuuuummm @CorgiMommy! Warm, melted, gooey cheese atop warm bread?!! So comforting and so tasty! 😋
It’s been a minute since I posted in this thread but it popped up last night so I thought I’d share what’s on my plate today.
Sticky rice with Chinese sausage and fried shrimp. Topped with fried scallions and garlic bits, and also fresh scallions.
My parents used to make this. Sometimes they put pate on the sticky rice then everything else on top 😘 @AznAngelLiz
That looks so good and comforting @AznAngelLiz! What kind of rice did you use and how did you prepare it to be sticky?
Ahh I know this one @AznAngelLiz! I’m used to using it in desserts or wrapped in banana leaves. I’ve never cooked and eaten it as is. I’m going to give it a try some time. Thanks for the idea! 😋
@AznAngelLiz Mmm sounds tasty! What kind of sausage did you use?
@Mellmars1185 I use this brand but I’ve seen others at the Asian grocery store and even at Costco
it’s a little sweet compared to smoked sausage but it’s good sometimes for these kind of dishes.
@AznAngelLiz Thank you. I like the sweet element to the sausage.
@AznAngelLiz, my tummy wants to know if you have any leftovers you need help finishing! Oh, that looks so good! 😋 It must have been really flavorful - such tasty combination of ingredients. Yum!
The rain was pouring down in spurts over the weekend. It’s also been uncharacteristically cold and windy so I decided to make a large pot of soup to have on hand this week. I used the leftovers from a chicken I rotisseried (I don’t think that’s an actual word ?), carrots, onions, celery, cabbage, salt and pepper.
Have been having a bowl for lunch or dinner for a few days, adding or pairing it with something else to keep it interesting - quinoa one day; paired with a salad another; added different veggies to it - spinach one day, broccoli another; potatoes yet another day. Kept it simple this afternoon and added half an avocado to it. 🥑
@itsfi ,
We made a similar chicken soup with Costco Rotisserie Chicken this week, but I appreciate all the ways that you changed up your basic chicken soup! I like the additions! 🥑
Yum; chicken soup is just so good for warming the stomach and soul, isn’t it @tsavorite?! 🥣 One of my favorite foods, comfort or otherwise. 😋 What do you include in your soup?
@itsfi ,
Our very basic soup had Costco Rotisserie Chicken, potatoes, green peas, carrots, celery, carrots, onions, and chicken broth.
The cold weather made the soup better. My husband put a couple of large soup servings in the freezer. That made him happy, to have some put aside.
I also really like the Costco-made Kirkland Chicken Noodle Soup in cool weather. It has good flavor.
How did I not know until now that Costco has its own chicken noodle soup @tsavorite! It makes sense that it would but I guess I've just missed it. Hmm... It has been a while since I've been in Costco but I'll have to remember to look for it the next time I'm there.
Thank you @sister13! The rain rolled in last night so I’ll be pulling out some of the soup I stored in the freezer for a couple of meals this week. 🥣
