Hello there, ladies and gents!
Keeping in line with all the fun and interactive threads asking about your most recent halls, items you have your eyes on, what you're currently wearing, what's your hair routine, and more, I've decide to branch out and ask:
"What's on your plate?"
The beauty world doesn't just stop at skin care and cosmetics, it also goes hand in hand with your overall health and well-being, so with that, I'm curious to see what we're all chowing down and snacking on be it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, or inbetween!
For those with apps that help count calories or to those who just want to keep a log, here's a place to share, possibly find and share some recipes, and even tips on maintaining a balanced diet.
Don't just share food items, but even drinks! I'm a huge fan of tea and at least have a cup of green tea a day (anti-oxidants) and drink plenty of water.
For lunch today, I had:
-Brown rice
-Steamed egg
-Steamed red snapper with green onion, sesame oil, and black pepper
-Gai lan (it's a type of Chinese vegetable/greens)
Now, tell me, Beauty Talk world, what do you have? 😄
It's so fun! Oh I love tempura. I should definitely try making it myself!
Here's a tempura batter recipe and tip on how to cut the shrimp to get it to "lay out" more evenly:

Ohh wow! Thank you! I will try it!
I had to rummage through my posted pics to find that shrimp pic! I remember making a tempura shrimp post a looooong while back here, glad it could come in handy again!
I'm glad you found it! I'm excited to make this!
Once I was making tempura shrimp at my friend's house and we ended up running out of shrimp but still had batter, so we raided her fridge for more stuff to fry, had some tempura broccoli and mushrooms that night as well!
You can totally make tempura with anything. Good idea!
TEMPURA ALL DA THINGZ!!!!!
Cabbage rolls made in slow cooker. If the cabbage leaves are put into water first to soften them, this also makes them considerably less "cabbagy" in taste. Filling had grass-fed ground lamb and cooked quinoa, among other things. First cabbage rolls I've made in years....
You are always making some kind of wonderful thing!
Those look beautiful! Is the sauce tomato paste?
Yes, the sauce is tomato paste mixed with some vegetable broth. Then some seasonings added.
When I made these years ago, they always seemed too cabbagy so I didn't like them after the first several bites. I think that I didn't pre-cook the leaves when I used to make them, which was the reason for the strong taste. These are pretty mellow.... perfect winter food.
Nice! It's crazy how those subtle changes in preparation can make a huge difference in taste. 🙂 I'm glad to hear the recipe has been tweaked to work out for your taste buds!
So true, Lylysa. Makes cooking (and eating) so much fun. There's always something new to try or learn.
This week my dad has been experimenting by trying to make some of his favorite Chinese takeout dishes.
First he made Mongolian Beef
Then there was Kung Pao Chicken
WTG, dad!
Exactly! #yesiamspoiled 😛
My dad makes grilled cheese, plain cheese quesadillas, hamburgers, and gazpacho. That's it. No joke.
He attempted chocolate chip pancakes once for a sleepover I was having (I was 13? Maybe?) so mom got him a boxed pancake mix and everything (before she had to leave) super easy, right? He made one recipe worth and dumped in an entire bag of chocolate chips and proceeded to use EVOO for the skillet. It was hilarious. But not really edible.
I'm impressed by your dad's skills!
LOL! The entire bag??? Talk about a sweet tooth! 😛
Wow! That's crazy!
Yeah my dad is amazing. He has 5 sisters so he spent a lot of time as a kid in the kitchen with them. (They lost their mother when my dad was very young so the sisters managed the household of 7 kids and their dad of course). So he learned a lot about cooking. Lucky me to have both parents who are great cooks!
This also explains why I just can't cook. I never really had to cook for myself so I haven't learned.
Ermahgawdddddd!!
The sauce on that chicken looks sooooooooo good, I could imagine that over some rice or even noodles would have been so yummy!
