Iโve wanted to start this for so long but never got around to it. Back in the day I think I had a similar thread and I wanted to bring it back.
Do you love anything out of the norm: the strange, the unusual, and the mysterious? Anything relating to the supernatural, the paranormal and mystical? Then this thread is for you! A place to discuss anything and everything about the unknown, the occult, legends and theoriesโฆ anything goes!
@Beadshopgirlme too! Well one thing especially... I'll have to try and find how to word that story.
I think my house might be a little haunted, as I've had a couple strange experiences here. A couple years ago I was sitting in bed flipping around on my iPad, not doing much of anything. My bedroom window was shut tight, ceiling fan off and the central AC was off as well. My dog was sitting next to me, as she always does. One of my cats was either dozing in my closet or under the bed (her usual hideaway).
So anyway, out of nowhere I suddenly felt this cold gust of air on my face. My dog ran to get under the covers (she never sleeps or burrows under the covers - I had never seen her do that before) and the cat bolted like lightning from the room. I looked behind me at my window and my heavy velvet curtains were swaying back and forth despite the windows being closed and the fan off.
I'd like to think it was my dad who passed away a few years ago stopping by to say hi but who knows. It was weird and I can't explain it. That gust of cold air felt so, so bizarre!!
OMG - Wow! @starsandbucks I hope it was your dad saying hello!
Ohhh interesting @starsandbucks. It could really have been you father. I'm sorry that he passed ๐
I used to be an avid believer in fate, that I had a predestined path and would be just taken through life on this path. Iโve encountered situations throughout my life that have really shown me otherwise, that I can attain what I need and want through the universe. The notion that I have some control over what happens to me was so freeing. Iโm much more careful about what I say and think now, because I understand that these are the things that Iโm harvesting in my life, positive and negative.
At a time when I was feeling unsure about this whole manifestation thing, I decided to sort of test it out. My husband is a big Iron Maiden fan, they were coming to a city near us but tickets sold out faster than we could get them. I ended up winning TWO pairs of tickets two days in a row, both on my first time calling. I was in disbelief but a big part of me was like SEE WHAT YOU CAN DO?!? โจโจ
YES!!!!!!! @bakeamuffin !!!!! THis is the magick!!! I've tried showing my husband these things but my poor Virgo cannot break out of his thought process long enough to get it. He read The Secret then literally would CONSTANTLY JOKE about manifesting certain things he didn't want. Every time I pointed it out to him, he said I didn't understand his humor. I tolf him that repeatedly putting something out there with positive emotional energy behind it ( laughter) will manifest exactly that!! When he manifested all the negative things he had joked about rather than the positive things he said he would never get, he said manifestation was nonsense. HE is now also an atheist because it makes him happier than believing that God is out to get him ( which is what he thought before) -- or looking at the fact that you manifest that which you focus on ( negativity).
Thoughts Become Things. Choose the Good ones!!- Mike Dooley
@fieldsofclover GIIIIRRRRLLL You are so right! I have faith he will come around eventually. Or not. To each their own. He is a good person and much happier now so ๐
So, I have what a friend calls the Asian sixth sense. For years, I had dreams about my ancestors and their experiences and thought nothing of it. Sometimes, the dreams involved conversations with both dead and living relatives. I could never hear what the dead were saying, but I could pick up on context based on the conversation on living relatives' part. One day, I mentioned the dreams in casual conversation with my mom, who was a little freaked out and mentioned it to some aunts in the motherland. The next thing I know, an aunt in Hong Kong sends me this black crystal ball looking thing (obsidian, maybe?) and tells me to keep it by my bed to keep out evil. Ever since then, the dreams have disappeared.
@txcatx That's really interesting, I have something similar going on.
Maybe your mother or someone she knew had a similar experience. A lot of these types of instances can seem not really important. But, you never know what it could have lead to. It could have been the start of something no so good later on? Don't know, but your family knew what to do and how to handle it.
@txcatx That is an awesome story!!!!!! Although when I first read about the obsidian ball, I thought she sent it to you so you could scry and be able to see and hear the dead relatives better!!! Obsidian is an excellent protective stone, though so it makes sense that the spirits went away after that. Depends on what it was intended to do. But I'll bet if you wanted to contact friendly spirits it would do double duty!!!
Sparkle on!!!!
So... my house is haunted. It's no big deal as everything that has ever been experienced has seemed either friendly or indifferent, but we definitely have had lots of strange things happen over the years. One of the instances that sticks out most in my mind happened probably 7 or so years ago, right around this time of year. I know it was not long after Christmas because we still had all of our decor up, including a clock downstairs that chimes the hour and plays a carol during the day (but never at night, when it's dark).
Well, one night my husband was out of town on business and I awoke in the middle of the night for no particular reason. Everything was dark and still until I heard very distinct footsteps walk through the hallway and into my bedroom, continuing right beside the bed up to where my head was. As soon as the footsteps got to the head of the bed, the temperature dropped. And I mean it got cold, very cold. For the only time in my entire life, I could literally feel every single hair on my body stand up. It was the freakiest feeling.
And then the voice started. It was very quiet and mumbling. The best way I could think to describe it later was that it sounded the way a radio does when your going in and out of range. So I couldn't really understand what "it" was saying until the last two words when it said, "I'm cold." And as soon as those words were said, the clock that I mentioned before? It chimed and played a carol. That clock had never played at night before and it hasn't since. After the clock stopped, the temperature rose and I didn't hear anything else for the rest of the night. And you better believe, my scaredy cat butt was awake buried completely under the covers for the entire rest of the night, LOL!
So yeah. A little Christmas ghost story haha!
Woh! Thanks for sharing your story @quspork! I'm odd... part of me is scared and part of me doesn't want to be and just embrace it... my fear comes from my childhood and what I experienced back then for sure.
I feel the same way, @veronika23. It's a little scary sometimes, but also can be comforting or just really interesting to experience things and hear about what others have experienced as well.
very true @quspork. :). I love all these stories!!!
