Everyone has something they love to do or collect. What's yours?
-I am a huge Sailor Moon fan and have a rather large collection, and still growing. I suppose I consider it both, a hobby and collecting
❤️ Moonie for life ❤️
-Limited Edition Disney dolls from The Disney Store, these dolls are just gorgeous
@SportyGirly125. They are beautiful-and they will never wilt! I'll bet you would make alot of $ on Etsy.
Oh wow, what a fun thread. As far as beauty related items go:
1) Red colored, rare/"special" embossed, unique lipsticks. I buy them and never use them, then just stare at them. 😂 I don't know why and my collection is small but it's something I always keep an eye out for.
2) Perfumes. I don't have an insane collection but definitely a substantial one.
3) Shoes. I own more than 150 pairs and I seriously need to declutter my shoe collection LOL. 😁
@QueenMarceline @It’s so hard to use such pretty lipstick bullets !
@Kim888 They are I try to give myself the best of both worlds by never touching the reds but using the other colors, haha 🙂
@QueenMarceline Also shoes are really hard to declutter even when I know I will never wear them again. I just released 14 pairs of platform pumps. Goodbye to an era where I have this desperate need to be tall even if it meant walking at 20% normal walking speed
@heartsmyface They really are 😕 I always have a problem letting go.
@QueenMarceline Oh like Catkin and Florasis! I’ll have to keep my eyes open for embossed lipsticks in my travels:).
@heartsmyface Yes, sort of 🙂 Although I don't own either of those brands yet but I've been eyeing the Catkin for a while.
@darkiceis Ahhh this thread needs reviving- especially with everyone disconnected from one another the last couple years.
Let’s see, I’m a Pikachu collector. I’m currently learning piano and also some Scottish Gaelic each day.
As the weather warms up (which is soon) I’m going to give gardening another go. Lots to learn and this will be year three of gardening for me. It gets me outside and feeling accomplished though a whole season of work for two salads is funny, I REALLY enjoy those salads:). I have big plans to not have stubby carrots this year!
Pretty please tag more people cause it won’t let me.
@Samtian @itsfi @PaletteAddict99 @ohheyitscindyk @michelleshops @Mellmars1185
Yaaaay for gardening @heartsmyface! And your salads! Looking forward to hearing about how it goes this year!
This is such a great thread. Let's see, tagging ...
@missjeanie @Nahnom @tsavorite @quspork @Titian06 @alexasteph @yankeefaithful @pocketvenus @Buootiful
Will tag more folks later.
@itsfi Thanks for the tag! I love to hear people who are into gardening, it's very impressive to me as I have a total black thumb 😛
I don't know that I collect anything aside from perfume samples. Even then, I don't find I've the mentality of a collector, I get bored of most of them quickly and give them away. I am really impressed by some perfume obsessives who amass very large, beautiful collections! You know they are serious collectors because there is no way one person could possibly use up all that perfume!! I find with collectors, having the things and completing the sets are just as important as using the things and sometimes, ownership is more important.
I read a lot. I usually have 4-5 books on the go, typically a mix of fiction and non-fiction and I am sooooo sad my local library branch has closed due to pandemic short staffing! I also like to work out and have been doing yoga everyday. I've been doing more meditation as well. I don't know that I'd call those hobbies? Because sometimes doing them doesn't feel very leisurely or fun ha ha. When things were more open I used to love exploring the city's cultural scenes. Is eating out at new restaurants a hobby? I say it's a hobby 🙂
@itsfi ,
Thank you for tagging me! This is a great Thread to revitalize!
I was just explaining my past and present hobbies to a friend yesterday. It reminded me that I either need some new Hobbies/Collections or to activate my old ones.
Reading novels or other good books on Kindle is my most active hobby at present. We have been watching The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (note: language is not for children.) I also like Only Murders In The Building. I love good movies or a good series. Before the pandemic, I loved going to movies. I'm interested in bicolor gemstones, watermelon tourmalines and ametrines. Sea glass and sea shells are beautiful, too.
I am a rock hound by nature. I like cookbooks and antique pink or green glass citrus reamers (juicers), and light blue glass Fire King kitchen items and also vintage green, or blue, or pink glass measuring cups.

Wow, it sounds like you have some really wonderful collections, @tsavorite! Do you have any favorites from your cookbook collection?
@quspork ,
I think that my favorite recipes are things that I have eaten, loved, and then acquired the recipe from friends or family. I like my own local Church/neighborhood recipe collections and also collections from people that I worked with. I have Julia Child's Cookbooks. I like to Google recipes from Martha Stewart when I cook. I have always loved to read recipes in magazine and look at the photos. I collect The Pioneer Woman Cookbooks (great photos. ) I like Crissy Teigan's Cravings, too. Cooks Country Magazine is a favorite.
So many good ones, @tsavorite! The local recipe collections printed up through churches, neighborhoods, and various community groups are always such fun ones to look through.
@tsavorite You sucked me in! I was heavily into geocaching from 2008 to 2010. I am the type to get super obsessed with a hobby and V lose interest suddenly. I love carnivorous plants but don’t have a space to grow any right now. NOT Venus flytraps. I like pitcher plants, especially sarracenia (American pitcher plant). I like carnivorous plants because they evolved to be beautiful to attract bugs. When I have my own outdoor space I will have more. I have been more into handbags lately. Used to bake a lot when I was much younger. I love sending packages and cards, mostly due to BIC but also a great British card shop on Etsy (Bewilderbeest). I like sending tangible reminders I care. I suspect that will resonate with many. I love shopping and finding just the right gift for a person.
Can’t get a photo of these plants to load. Grrr.
@sprocketta I’m the same way with hobbies but somehow makeup is special in that it’s kept my interest for years!
This is morbid but have you ever sat there and watched while one of your plants catch a bug? I’m having a hard time deciding if I could let the bug be devoured in the name of having a green thumb. 😅
@heartsmyface I am on my third attempt to respond to this and my phone refuses to upload pictures, only files. Anyway, American pitcher plants, most of what I had, are more passive about it. They accumulate water inside the pitchers, they’re like big empty tubes, And the bug gets drawn in by the patterns and colors and then falls in drowns in the pitcher. Sick sides, can’t climb out. The plant takes the nutrition from the water in the pitcher as the big decomposed. I saw bugs in the pictures all the time. I was always more taken with the plant itself than the bug.
I had a sundew as well and those are different. They have a sticky substance that holds the bug in place and the plant will curl around the bug as well. Way more of a devour scenario. Those can be a little hard to look at.
These are photos I pulled online but I had that specific pitcher hybrid because it was so pretty. Most carnivores are not what you would expect, like a venus flytrap. I’m adding @tsavorite here since I couldn’t get photos the first time.
The minute I have the appropriate outdoor space I will get more.
