The Fit, The Fab and The Face: Outfit and Inspo Thread

I realized we don't have an OOTD, outfit of the day thread, which isn't needed but can still be a lot of fun.  It's dress up for me, but make it adult.

This was part spurred by my natural hair journey, Tress Trek - A Transition Journal from Relaxer to Natural and NYFW and Zendaya.  99% Zendaya.

The Fit- this can be your attire, or what has arisen from the Capsule Challenge, your makeup bag.  Hair and fragrance "fits" count, too


The Fab - What you loved enough to be inspired by or loved the most about your look


The Face - the proooodduccctsss, so I can add to my loves list, y'all. Or a pic of your face

I don’t have a “come at me” accessory (or not one that immediately comes to mind), but now I’m thinking I need one. Looking for the right piece feels like a project I’m down for!

I want to see what you get if you find one, @itsfi! I'm a fan of rings or blazers to get that edge, but I can think of so many things we all use as our "power through it" pieces or even makeup looks!

That ring is major @PDXXXX .  It's like brass knuckles, but make it cute 🥰 🤣. I also love a wedge heel.  That can be equally fashionable and a weapon 🤣

Usually if I'm feeling edgy, there's leather, pleather, skulls, bustier/corset or at one point -   biker boots -  involved.  The latter I don't have anymore, but I did get some BR flats with studs on them. I suppose a moody lip (dark brown, black, berry) is another item/thing.

But, I also just gravitate towards those things.  I feel like my look is sometimes built into my personal, much like you can use it like armor.  I project the version of myself I want to be or feel to be, and essentially what aligns best for hair, makeup and clothes will up my confidence when it matches what I think/want.  Same is true is there's a mismatch, like I'm immediately focused on what's off.

Forgive the face, trying to do a bunch of things at once and get a full body shot

The Fit: You already know, RTR. I think I need these leather joggers.  They are very comfy

Shirt is one of my own, scarf is I think a knock off of Alexander McQueen, which I only recently realized.  I just like it because it has skulls

The Fab: How this came together, I was hoping the joggers would match tonally, but it was an exact match.  Also the scarf just works, it's moody, but cute.  The joggers run large, so it accentuates the hips, but the corset is giving hourglass, so yesss.  Also, the zipper on the corset zips down not up, so less likely to pinch.

The Face: This week's Cheek challenge was Very Villainous.  This is Maleficent.  I practiced the contour the night before, but it didn't pop the same on a Monday.  I've forgotten the lip 🤦🏽‍♀️.  The VBB liners are super creamy, but didn't play nicely with something.

The face is 🙌 I absolutely love the coziness and professionalism to this photo if only there were a word for it but it would be an exemplary way to describe fashion on all pillars. I get all Shakespeare when talking about fashion but I truly admire your tastes and outlooks so thankful you share 🙂 @danielledanielle

I should note these are vegan leather/pleather.  But they are lined, so they are growing on me.

@danielledanielle, the fact that the p/leather joggers are lined just makes me love them more - it just sounds comfy and cozy and that feels so right for the season!

@danielledanielle Leather joggers?! I could never pull those off, and you make it look natural! Like @heartsmyface, I also had the McQueen scarf in white at some point (and I don't know why I ever gave it away). I think I bought it on eBay, so it probably was a knockoff, but I loved it. I feel like it's totally making your outfit a mood. Love it all.

Ha I think I also have a knockoff of the Alexander MacQueen scarf somewhere in the depths of my closet- or were skull things and infinity scarves just super popular circa 2010ish?  Mine might be a knockoff of a knockoff.  

I LOVE the burgundy leather joggers!   And yes!  I love corsets cause they put some curves on me where there might not be any!

THE FIT & THE FAB: A.K.A. JAMES DEAN GOES TO THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE:

THE FIT: boat shoes by Superga, a classic breton lightweight knit shirt from Banana Republic, and a wool Burberry Trench I've had for about 10 years. This one is very much my everyday style which has heavy nods to the Beatnik and Mod eras and various 50's through 90's Icons.

THE FAB: James Dean and Beatnik style in general (top left). I'm a big fan of James Dean Films and his style, whether wearing a classic trench or the black double-breasted long coat he was often photographed in (similar to my coat pictured top right so you can better see the detail) or a breton shirt. Now, what is a breton shirt? The timeless, simple, striped shirt popularized by Coco Chanel you can see famously worn across generations in the lower right corner. It's been worn by everyone from Pablo Picasso to the Mods and artists of that generation like Andy Warhol and even been a staple of punk as worn on Kurt Cobain or Pete Doughtery of The Libertines. In a word...classic.

THE FACE: natural skin, light tones, natural cheeks and lips...I will crosspost on the What are you wearing today Pt2 thread. Hint: Dior Roswood.

And yes, this was truly just what I wore for a doctor's appointment today because doctors scare me and I like to look as fresh and clean without looking like I tried too hard to look fresh and clean as possible when I see them.

That coat/ jacket is made for you! I literally am so bad with clothing etiquette I don’t know what it’s called but it is so beautiful this look, I love the inspos behind the looks but you are the true inspo! Love getting to experience these and learn. Such a fantastic fit! @PDXXXX
