Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

2026 has arrived and so has YEAR NINE (9) of the Pan It! Challenge 🍾

20262026

The "Rules"

To accommodate a variety of interests, you all are encouraged to pick items to pan that are most suitable to your collections.  For some, this might mean focusing on a particular type of product (like lipstick) and for others this may include a larger variety spanning your entire makeup or skincare routine.

Getting Started (please share the following)

  • Which item(s) you would like to work on
  • How long you will work on said item
  • Goal: explore a new item, revisit an old item, decide whether to keep pass or trash, and/or completely finish item, etc.
  • Starting photo of item

Please Use This Thread To...

  • share what item(s) you are working on,
  • provide comparative progress photos of your item(s) monthly (at the beginning of the month when possible),
  • ask questions,
  • encourage others,
  • motivate others with the looks you create with your item(s)

Tips and Tricks to Panning/Getting Some Use Out of Your Stash:

Spoiler

  • Take photos!!  When you think you aren’t making a dent in anything look back at those photos, I’m certain you’ll see some changes 😃 *this is the number one recommendation for everyone, regardless of how long you’ve been panning! Those photos add up and can help you realize progress you might otherwise overlook.
  • If you goal is to hit pan or use something up entirely, try concentrating your brush/applicator in the same area each time you use it
  • Multitask your products: eyeshadows as highlighter, lipstick as blush, eyeshadow as brow powder, etc.
  • Layer eyeshadow to create different colors (this is especially helpful to get use out of shades you’re not fond of).
  • Have shadows with a ton of fall out?  Use water
  • Watching the progress of others’ can be fun but try not compare your progress to theirs.  We all use our makeup differently and have different goals.
  • Don’t restrict yourself to only using the item(s) you are working on.  It’s more than OK to incorporate other items or take a break!

Makeup should be fun….if you begin to dread doing your makeup because you made a commitment to use a product that you now hate, TOSS IT!  Do not force yourself to use up something you don’t like.  Move on to something else!  (This includes excluding particular shades from your goals if focusing on palettes, etc.)

Ideas to Help You Pan Those Items:

Spoiler

  • Roll the dice: number your items and use a random number generator to pick what you will use each (day/week/month/etc.)
  • Layer/Mask: items you are less fond of under things you like
  • Pan a Look: at the beginning of the week pick a look that you can wear everyday
  • Recreate: a look worn by a fellow BICer, celebrity, etc.
  • Spice up an "everyday" look by adding subtle pops of color (in the crease or on the lower lash line, mix lip products to make shades wearable, etc.)

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

So proud of your commitment! @itsfi

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Thank you @lmaster; it'll be nice to see more progress on these.

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@itsfi All make up!!! Dang.... that's a great challange!

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Hoping this will help make some dents in these beauties @missjeanie. Between this and a couple other challenges, I should be able to rotate through my makeup collection more efficiently this year.

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@itsfi , I think you're going to do great!  Makeup/color products are hard to pan if you don't use them often, so...👇🏽

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Thank you @danielledanielle. Trying to include one of these items in a weekly capsule will be good for use and a good reminder for me of the other items in this challenge. That CdP foundation though is gonna be a toughie just because of how much product is in there, but better that they were generous with product than skimping on it.

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@itsfi Ooh I can't wait to see your progress! That cream palette will be interesting. And I'm always in awe of those working on blushes.

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@SamtianI'm excited (and nervous, and excited and nervous) about this group. 🤣 But it's a fairly good representation of things I use or am looking to try to use/incorporate more into my everyday makeup look. I got a lot of use out of the MUFE palette when I've been traveling, both in warm locales and chilly, crisp ones so it is very versatile. There's also a ton of product in there so it's definitely going to be interest how long it takes to even make a noticeable dent in one of the shades. Oh goodness, I have, still have a little trauma from trying to pan that tarte blush but hoping past years of pan it! challenges will help me with the ups and downs of working through this Tower 28 one. Worst case scenario though is that I already have a plan B and plan C in the event I just can't do it anymore and need to repurpose the powder blush stat. Ha!

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@itsfi I love the idea of doing a full face for a project pan, what great choices!! The MUFE palette is stunning, do you have an idea what shade you want to pan?

And I think the goals are all very reasonable, you got this!!

Spoiler
I don't understand how people go through lip liner quickly. Maybe some constant sharpening?

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Thank you @haleyvvvv! I changed up the way I've typically done this challenge and my capsules so I'm hoping those adjustments will be good with my overall objectives. But if not, I'll pivot back to how I went about the challenges before or make further adjustments.

That's a really great question. I haven't decided on a particular shade to work towards panning but I think it will likely be one of three shades from that last row (with the check mark in the bottom right corners). The two on the left I use as blush and lip shades and that last one works well as a contour color for me and sometimes as a dark spot concealer mixed with another one or two of the concealer shades from the palette. The blush shades I can also pair with the Tower 28 powder blush, using the latter to set one of these shades, so I get use out of two pan it! products. Contouring is on my list of makeup techniques I want to work on this year so it's possible that bottom right shade will see a lot of use just for that reason.

Those are the frontrunners for which shade will likely see a dent first, but I'll probably take the approach I did with the ND Biba palette when I first started panning - just use the palette and after a few months see which shade is getting the most use and then turn my attention to trying to pan that shade. My approach has a bit of an organic bent to it initially and then takes on a more strategic methodology. 😆

Oh, that must be it, or a primary factor. Those who go through their liners so quickly must sharpen it with nearly every use to get a well defined, sharp point each time. Good thinking! Now that you've said it, I might take the exact opposite approach 😂🤣😂 - no wonder it takes me so long to go through my lip liners, especially a wood pencil one. I pretty much use it to the point where I cannot get any color to transfer to my lips (without possibly hurting myself) and then I'll sharpen the pencil just enough to get a tip, it could even be a blunt tip. Oh my word, what is wrong with me?!! 😲🤦🏻‍♀️ You’d think with the way I do things it's the only lip liner pencil I own and that it's all I'll ever have. 🙄 I really do not need to be go about handling it so conservatively.

I just pulled up some of my notes / photos, it took me 6+ months to go through the Charlotte Tilbury Super Nudes Lip Cheat Contour Duo Lip Liner - that's 6+ months of using it to line and fill in the lips, not just diffuse the color after lining but to color in the entire lip as well on many uses. While the product looks/sounds like it's made up of 2 full size liners, both sides are veeeery tiny, like if you were to line up the parts with actual product that you can use/sharpen, it would not be the equivalent of a standard full size lip liner.

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

That palette looks so well utilized, @itsfi , that's amazing!! I like your approach of use it for a little bit and then really home in on the shades that are more in use.

I think I fall in the middle for the lip liner. But I've taken to sharpening a little almost every time I'm using one, so maybe I'll finish one this year lol.

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@haleyvvvv , @itsfi that is absolutely how to go through a wood pencil.  I have a brow pencil from an allure beauty box that I started to use mid 2025 and was like... "This is going to last awhile, this was a mistake."  I'll use a dull pencil, but now that I have sharpeners everywhere, all at once, I'll reach for them and realize how lovely a point is.  Especially for brows and lip contouring.  I'll also use the shavings for lip pencils for ombre for lip color so it's not a total loss.

The other thing about the MUFE pencils, even though they've now stated some are not lip or eye safe 🤦🏽‍♀️, is that you can use them as bases.  I keep hand sanitizer near my brushes, so I'll spritz it when I flip/switch the use.

Itsfii! Lip mask!  I left that out, I made the questionable choice of picking up not one, but three full size LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask – Intense Hydration Lip Treatment with Vitamin C Berry last year....after I bought a trader Joe's one.  I have the TJ on my laptop with the little pumpkin pie topper so that I use it often.  It's 1/4 done, which I'm impressed with, but I looked at it this morning and was like HOMG.... There's still so much.  🥲. Halp, 🤣

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Lip masks are truly neverending @danielledanielle @itsfi . It takes me half a year to get through a mini, so hats off to anyone making their way through a full sized.

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@danielledanielle @haleyvvvv I stopped buying every Laneige lip mask on release and have skipped the limited edition ones for the last couple of years. There's occasionally an ounce of regret but that fades when I think about how long it takes to get through one and how many lip masks from Laneige and other brands as well as other balms I have. My lips should actually have zero issues being well moisturized at all time given how many I have. 😂

Add your Laneige lip mask to your pan it! challenge @danielledanielle! @blackkitty2014 has used up some of  lip sleeping masks before and that was one of my motivators for including one in last year's challenge and again this year. I'm really hoping to get through the last half this year.

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Happy New Year, Folx! Right now, this is a small list, but hopefully it'll grow and I'll bounce between here and Shop Your Stash Challenge: Winter 2026 ❄️

Complexion

The Wiffleballs

These are almost done, I feel like if I focus on these, I'll get great momentum

Also, as always, shout-out to @ElleElleG for keeping this going.

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@danielledanielle  great list! Looking forward to seeing your progress updates this year - you've got this! 💪

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Not on the list, but this happened today.  I thought I could eek out more, but today was scraping up with little product.  I'm not going to lie, I have already replaced this, but instead of opening the replacement, I brought out Fenty Beauty by Rihanna We're Even Hydrating Longwear Waterproof Concealer Medium 300N and Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Lift & Flex Hydrating Concealer With Hyaluronic Acid & Caffeine 10 that are open.  The Fenty is way too light, but can be for undereye brightening, so hopefully they're on the way of fashion fair... Adding these to the list, though

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Woohoo, congrats, @danielledanielle !! And kudos on pulling out the ones that are already open

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

You can do this!! @danielledanielle 💪

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

@danielledanielle Oh my gosh.. you're gonna glow to the gods!  Getting through stuff to get to other things before they're ancient... I so feel that.

Re: Pan It! - 2026 Challenge

Thanks for the rah-rahs/cheerleading @Samtian @haleyvvvv @itsfi @lmaster 🤸🏽‍♀️

I realized after I'm supposed to include photos, 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️, here's the bronzer

Once the embossing faded, I've been rough with it.  I have a pattern of babying something with a gorgeous embossing and then going HAM on it 🤣
