I know youโve tried a sample (or ten) of something and it was so magical it made you stop everything and buy a product cause it was love at first sample! What was it and did the full sized version live up to your initial heart-melted impression? Or is it still on your shopping list to pick up at your earliest convenience?
The first time I can recall this happening to me was when Sephora still carried Dermadoctor. I had a sample of their KP Duty Body Scrub. I used it just to push it through my stash and was absolutely blown away by how immediately soft and exfoliated my skin was! Instant purchase! Itโs been six years and I have yet to find any body scrub that compares -and Iโve tried!
A more recent love-at-first-sample is the Dior Backstage Face and Body Primer! Itโs a slightly peach tinted, creamy gel consistency and is mega hydrating while blurring subtle imperfections on its own but making foundation apply so smoothly!!! Plus it has a beautiful floral fragrance which may not be everyoneโs cup of tea but itโs very pleasing to me. ๐
DIOR BACKSTAGE Face & Body Primer 1.6 oz/ 50 mL

I've seen lots of folks say it has a baby powder scent, but I don't catch that at all. I get some of weird herbal/woody/fruity mix, like not a necessarily pleasant mix of the three, it's a super odd scent that took me a bit to get used to. I love the cleanser so much that I got over it though, but I absolutely cannot stand the matching moisturizer with the same scent, ha!
@RGbrown is like that internet picture, are the shoes gold or blue? But with a smell ๐
I was wrong on that too, so take all of my guesses with a grain of salt ๐คฃ
The Tula Cult Classic cleanser reminded so much of old fashioned baby powder smell, but that's just how it hit my nose ๐ (I am into it by the way ๐)
If it really is Blueberry I'm laughing so hard at my misjudged notes of smell @heartsmyface but now I'm curious I need someone who has an open bottle at the moment to let me know what they smell ๐ค ๐
@CynthieLu I thought I had this but I think I gave it away to my nephew. My husband me running around the spare bathrooms looking for it and asked what I was looking for. I explained I needed to know what I smelled like and were now off to Sephora to see if they have it so I can confirm and not be up all night wondering if I misremembered! Hahaha, perfect excuse for an in store trip! ๐๐คฃ
Oh no lol ๐ @heartsmyface you man is a keeper for supporting you in this adventure, my guy would just look at me like I was silly ๐
@CynthieLu He is! I love our impromptu adventures!
โand the verdict- the cleanser smells powdery. Itโs the blackhead scrub that smells like blueberries! ๐
You really have a good man, @heartsmyface, scrolling through I did not expect this to evolve into what it did๐
@eshoe Ha it was a silly mission but fun! Following through on the impulsive ideas we have makes life interesting:) We were amused with ourselves the whole way there and back. ๐
I'm so happy my nose isn't broken ๐คฃ @heartsmyface
@CynthieLu Nope not at all broken! I was the confused one! To be fair though, all the packaging looks the same.
It was worth it though!! I hauled a few things!! Haha, oops! The damage I can do in five minutes is terrifying. But I nicked a few Christmas presents off:)
You did good girl, you solved a mystery and did some holiday shopping ๐ ๐
@heartsmyface win!
@CynthieLu I will have to give a good sniff later on tonight. But with chronic allergies I have a hard time with light scents ๐
It's a mildly powerful scent in my opinion but I'm doubting my nose today lol @Cissy63
@CynthieLu My nose is really broken ๐. I canโt pick up any scent ๐
@Cissy63 hopefully your just fighting off a cold ๐
@CynthieLu, oh, baby powder? I'll have to remember to keep that in mind when I next reach for the cleanser. There's something that's familiar about it but I couldn't pinpoint the exact notes.
Exfoliating products that work for me, let's see, there's a handful in different forms.
Cleansers:
AMOREPACIFIC Treatment Enzyme Peel Cleansing Powder 1.94 oz/ 55 g
SEPHORA COLLECTION Smoothing Cleanser with AHA + BHA
Toner:
Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant for Clear Skin (but only on my T-zone)
Peel Pads:
First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads with Glycolic + Lactic Acids โ Exfoliating Pads with AHA
SEPHORA COLLECTION Mini Glow Peel Pads 20 Pads
Treatments/Masks:
Peach & Lily Super Reboot Resurfacing Mask
innisfree Pore Clearing Clay Mask 3.38 oz/ 100 mL
Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting BHA 9 Treatment 0.3 oz/ 9 mL (spot treatment only)
There's probably a couple more that are not coming to mind at the moment, but, except for the Sephora cleanser which I just disovered this year, all are products that I've repurchased, some repeatedly.
@itsfi @CynthieLu the fresh Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash is really nice if weโre talking physical exfoliators.
Thank you for that @itsfi I don't exfoliate often, it's hit and miss what is too much for me. I'm always curious about what works for other sensitive skin- ers. I appreciate the product mentions ๐
@CynthieLu, yeah, exfoliating products are hugely hit or miss and sadly, itโs something you often have to try out to find out where it falls on the hit or miss continuum.
Mind if I ask whatโs your preference (if you have one) when it comes to exfoliating products?
What exfoliating products have you tried thatโs been too much for your skin?
