Hey I’ve seen more and more children who are 13 or under going into these stores destroying brands and being disrespectful toward employees. It’s very unfortunate because when I try to use the used products to try it out, they always look messy or they’re put away due to these kids. Not just that but it’s all over social media 😞 so if Sephora hasn’t done already, they should create an age restriction, so this problem won’t happen again.
It is very annoying, but I agree there shouldn't be an age restriction. Only because some kids are not being rude or disruptive. But, for testers they should have a present helping them and the same with what products they get because some are horrible for their skin. I'll link some popular products makeup and skincare that are appropriate for kids 9+.
i don’t think they should have a age restriction because some sephora kids are not disrupting anyone or ruining anything i think if they see them doing that they should talk to them and if they keep doing it ask them to leave.
While this is true, lots of kids in Sephora don't do this. I think that young children buying things like drunk elephant, and retinol is pretty crazy, but if a kid just wants to us their money to get a sol de Janeiro, or a blush. Who is going to stop them!? I think if they applied age restrictions, the 12 or 11 year olds could maybe still pass as old enough, and get in anyways.
Yes but what if they are just wanting like summer Friday or something like that but then because of this trend of people hating kids at Sephora people give them bad looks because of the trends. It’s really not fair To those that aren’t doing anything😕
Hey! I was at a different sephora location, unaccompanied by my mom (In another aisle right outside of kohl’s) Looking at SDJ but one of the employees, very nice, said I needed to be accompanied by an adult to be in Sephora. Of course I left I have never had problems with my main locations. Is this true? Am I only allowed inside of the store with a parent? Also I was not screwing around with any of the testers whatsoever, I do not condone with any of the kids who do not clean up after themselves.
thats actually so crazy im 18 but idk how they can like do that it doesn't make sense especially if your smo who looks very young for your age and if you aren't doing anything i don't see a problem in trying to buy a perfume like your not over at the drunk elephant making smoothies and being messy/rude then there shouldn't be a problem but also in bigger cities there are kids that will steal from there so possibly they were just trying to make sure that kids don't try to steal in Sephora locations in bigger cities!
YES someone gets it!
Agreed
the thing is, not all kids under 13 do this.
But seriously I know that these kids are causing problems but does adding age restrictions really change anything besides what if they want sol de janeiro or something that doesn’t have to do w/ dangerous skincare and makeup so why don’t they add like a teens/tween section with products that don’t ruin young skin because if we block tweens from an experience that will help them learn much more they will never know the real world and we can even make an anti-aging area that is blocked of for kids and why dont we take away the testers because they are gross anyway like maybe you can ask an employee for a tester and they do for example the pump for you and more vigilance so the kids have to go in with a responsible adult so pls Sephora and others reconsider the age restriction
Right!! I have seen more adults ruining testers and products more than kids. It’s quite sad really.
why don't they just not have an age restriction, thank you.
Hi everyone! I am writing an article about this recent "Sephora kids" phenomenon and I would LOVE to interview some of you who have firsthand experience with this. If you work at Sephora, have a kid who loves Sephora, or have simply witnessed the kids in action, please reach out to me at mnvh@unc.edu if you have any comments or info that you are willing to share! Thanks!
My personal opinion is that kids 12 and younger should be accompanied by an adult and moderated throughout the store. I will admit it’s really annoying seeing the mess especially in the drunk elephant and glow recipe. These kids do need to be more respectful these poor employees don’t get paid enough to deal with it!
I think that maybe we don’t need a safe restriction but give employees rights to kick people out without specific reason
exactly! why should all tweens have to suffer just because the odd few are rude! thank you!
I actually think this is great bc when I go into Sephora I’m usually at the mall with my little brother(11) and it’s not like he’s touching things but if he had to wait outside just bc of his age I would feel so bad
As somebody who has been going to Sephora for makeup as a kid I don't think it should be an age restriction but kids should be monenterd and not allowed to go in without a parent for 12 and younger
same i am respectful to the employees and i don't mess up samples there shouldn't be an age restriction just because some teens are disrespectful
ya exactly!
