2018 Resolutions: Makeup, Skincare and Haircare Edition

With the countdown to Christmas/holiday season and the New Year I thought it would be interesting to take a moment and plan some resolutions around our love for everything Beauty. In my experience its important to be realistic about your plans and also be willing to adapt as the year goes on.

Do you want to try the Project Pan challenge? Promise to use SPF everyday? Be diligent about double cleansing at night? Be more experimental with colours and techniques? Hate resolutions and live everyday in the moment!?!

List your resolutions, either each from skincare, haircare and makeup or multiple for any category. Listed below are some examples of resolutions, with mine in bold. Feel free to list your own!!

Beauty Resolutions for 2018

1. Avoid impulse purchases, take a day to think twice before buying something
2. Use all my face products at least once a month each
3. Wear more then shades of brown on my eyes!
4. Clean them Brushes - Face, eyes, hair and sonic
5. Take care of my lips - scrub, moisture for the win!
6. 'Make up' a budget and stick to it
7. Treat SPF like your phone, always on you
8. Routine Routine Routine, the skincare edition
9. Take 30 minutes every week for self care like multi-masking
10. Don't jump on EVERY new product hype
11. Try new hairstyles - curly, wavy, straight, coiled?
12. Clear your makeup/skincare/haircare collection giving/throwing away products you no longer use or are expired
13. Accept that one persons mole is anothers beauty mark - Love what you got!
14. Spend less time looking at makeup GIF's!

21. 🎁 Keep maxing samples so I can donate extras to women's shelters

Last week I took a full grocery bag of haircare, extra GWPs, overflow foils, etc. to my shelter/org of choice. I pruned my stash down to one box of high-end things I know I will either use or want to put in gifts or swap boxes, and sent all the other (unopened, unexpired) goodies to new homes!

10. 🛀 More bubble baths! 

This is going well. I was doing ok with running a bath 1-2x a week, and lately I'm able to get in every other day or so now. I have a medical condition that is easier to manage when I do hydrotherapy, so I'm getting some measurable health benefits from this too.

18. 💋 Book a free Rouge makeover or attend an event at least once every other month 

I've gone to five or six different classes since New Year's, and I'm booked for the upcoming Play! date relaunch on the 4th. I'm calling this one done ✔️

Apologies I'm late to this as it's mid-March, 2018!, but I like this prompt, so here are my skincare/beauty resolutions for this year which I'm so far keeping up at:

-stick with mineral-based and physical sunscreen;

-double cleanse every night if I wear sunscreen and/or makeup during the day;

-try some light facial massage at night, once or twice a week;

-incorporate a peel pad once or twice a week;

-incorporate Vitamin C, alternating with retinol, on a weekly basis;

-use eye cream every day - even in the mornings if I can help it;

-do a face mask at least once a week and alternate with doing a sheet mask once a week, too;

-take more baths for self-care;

-be unafraid to go without makeup on some days to work and let my skin breathe

welp i now need a new sheet in my google doc for things i want to repurchase! one of my goals this year is to use the masks i have - particularly my sheet masks that sit there unloved. today i used the biobelle #primer mask and my skin feels amazing! my foundation applied so nicely and i didn't have to use actual primer.  i don't use primers to prolong makeup life but rather for additional hydration so that may be a factor for some people but i'm going to need more of these

i've decided to inventory all beauty related things.  i already have my makeup done but i'm now working on skincare, hair products and body products.  i'm including cost as well.  hopefully this will make me more mindful as i'm using things and repurchasing.

9. 💅 Do my nails at home this year

I got the Deborah Lippman Cuticle Lab set and a nail buffer during the holiday sale, and pitched all my ancient nail polish remover in favor of one tidy Sephora canister. Put all the new tools in a little bag in the living room, so I can get into the habit of working on my nails if I'm sitting around on the couch. (I ended up returning the Sephora nail kit... really loved the stripey clamshell case, but it turned out I already had better versions of all the tools in it.)

Update: the DL nail buffer is really nice. Like, the best one I've ever owned by far. 💅

@fieldsofclover, I got really in to this towards the end of last year. The cuticle lab is a great kit!  I ended up also buying the DL Primer drops and Butter London’s PD Quick drying oil. Both of those have really helped me not make a giant mess of things.

You will love this, it is such a nice self-care ritual and you will save SO MUCH money on manicures!
