Monthly Favorites: May 2024 Edition!

Hope the month of May has been blossoming beautifully for you, BIC! 🌷🌹🌼 I went on a bit of a beauty shopping spree last month (which, in full transparency, set me on a personal no-spend challenge in May 😅), so I’ve been taking time to really enjoy some of the new additions to my various routines. Some of my favorite products this month are ones I’ve been looking to try for a while (after being influenced by friends, social media, and – of course – fellow Community members). There’s nothing better than when something works just as you imagined it would! 

Here are the products I’ve been in love with this month:

Super cute color @itsfi ! I ended up picking up the UD foundation because of the points but I think I got the wrong shade. What shade do you have?

@makeitup305, I have shade 10. I initially thought 12 would be my shade match but i swatched both  colors in store and the undertone of 10 worked better for me. When I first apply it, it looks a bit light, but after a few minutes, it gives me a good match. Can you go in store and get samples of a couple different shades to try out at home?

@itsfi I ordered 10. I swatched 5, 6, 8 and 10. 6 looked a little light and 8 actually looked darker than 10. I swatched them all on my inner arm and 10 seemed a little deep / warm but maybe it will look closer to my skin color once I actually wear it.

@makeitup305, 8 does look darker and warmer than 10. Maybe see how 10 wears on you? For me, it did get a little deeper than the shade that dispenses out of the tube. For Kbeauty cushions, I’m between 21 & 23 at the moment.

@itsfi I got it today and wore it. It's a smidge darker than I would prefer. I wish it were half a shade lighter or the undertone was a little less peachy on me, then it would be perfect. It does deepen a bit once it dries. It wore really well, though. You don't even feel it on the skin. I might switch it out for a lighter shade just because that way I don't have to be super light handed with bronzer. I can make it work so I haven't decided exactly what I'm going to do. I also picked up the Dior Star Glow in 3 but might switch it to 4 to use as a shade adjuster since I already have 2.

@CorgiMommy, thank you. I was initially hesitant about this shade because it looked so bright & bold in the tube - loved the color but didn't know if it would be something I could wear or pull off. It's turned out to be a wonderful shade.

My skin had a freak reaction to some products this month, so the last part I've decided to go back to my tried and true products. And this new product that blew my mind. 

Huxley Toner- Very strongly fragranced and I love it. 

Tatcha The Water Cream Oil-Free Pore Minimizing Moisturizer 1.7 oz / 50 mL - My skin just loves this, and I love it. 

Tatcha The Rice Polish Foaming Enzyme Powder - This was last months as well, but I really really love using it.

Dr. Jart+ Cicapair™ Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30 1.7 fl. oz/ 50 mL - makes my angry skin look better.

SEPHORA COLLECTION Brightening Eye Cream with Caffeine and Hyaluronic Acid 0.67 oz/ 20mL - lessens my dark silver under eyes.

Black Cherry Scrub- Found at TJ Maxx, not the best scrub but it leave my lips moisturized if I lick it off. 

Sephora Peony- An old gratis from Sephora, so soft and creamy. Too bad I don't think they make it anymore.

dae Cactus Fruit 3-in-1 Styling Cream Original - I got this at Sephoria and finally tried it this month. Whoa it's good! Helps me get some waves! And smells good. 

Essie- Sparkly polish that I want to put on top of everything.

@Samtian great set of favs!  I hear so many people raving about the dae Cactus Fruit 3-in-1 Styling Cream Original; does it make your hair feel stiff or greasy?

Good to know you've been loving the Tatcha polish for the past couple of months! I love a good exfoliant.

@Sunnysmom Thank you. I've actually worn my hat less because I like how my hair looks haha. It took almost a month to finally put my Jughead back on, and the dae helps with that.

May 2024 favorites:

💜DW Home Strawberry Basil candle - I have been enjoying this, and even my mom said it smelled nice. It's a really nice sweet fruity & green/herbal scent. It also has a pretty good throw – I have it in my room upstairs and when it’s been lit a while you can smell it all the way at the bottom of the stairs. I would buy this or a similar scent again.

💜Danessa Myricks Beauty Infinite Chrome Waterproof Micropencil Eyeliner Lilac Quartz- this has such a beautiful shifty shimmer, and I love that the point is very fine, so it's easy to get a fine line.

💜Glossier Strawberry Balm Dotcom Lip Balm and Skin Salve Strawberry  - instant love! I have been a fan of Glossier's balm dotcom for ages and I also love all things strawberry, so as soon as this dropped I immediately ordered 3 lol. Thinking about ordering more since I have been using mine so much already.

💜Chunks x Sephora hair clips from the Rewards Bazaar - I do love hair accessories, and these are very nice, sturdy and high quality and of course, cute designs. I have worn both and they hold my long, fine, straight hair pretty well.

💜Zoologist Hummingbird perfume (sample) - this was by far my favorite of the perfume samples I've tried this month. It's a lovely sweet and nectar-y, light and airy floral that I found so enjoyable and perfect for spring! I definitely plan to get the full size of this one in the future.

💜ONE/SIZE by Patrick Starrr Secure the Blur Makeup Magnet Primer 1.18 oz/ 35 mL(sample) - I have been using this for the past couple of weeks and really like it as a different finish from my favorite dewy primer. It's all used up now, but I just ordered the full size.

💜Natasha Denona Hy-Glam Brightening & Hydrating Medium to Full Coverage Crease Proof Serum Concealer  - I got this a while ago but just got around to really testing it out recently. I really like the finish & coverage - I think it's my new favorite concealer!
