Monthly Favorites: July 2024 Edition!

What’s happening, BIC? 🌞 I hope you are all staying cool during this hot summer (unless you’re like some of us in the Bay Area, still bundled up in jackets 😉)! Summer seems to always make me want to refresh my beauty routine and experiment with new products. The warmer weather (and, depending on where I am, humidity!) pushes me towards lighter formulas, vibrant colors, and all the SPF! Every year I return to this mission of uncovering summer must-haves that keep me looking and feeling fresh while withstanding the summer sun.

These are the products I’ve been loving so far this month:

@itsfi Ok so the sun and warm weather are coming your way 🌞! I am enjoying a brand of spf by the podcast I listen to called the Skinny Confidential. She has a lot of skincare tools but came out with a Caffinated spf for the face. It does have a slight tint to it. I am really loving it under makeup or on it's own. I probably won't buy it again just because of the cost and shipping to Canada was also pricey. I wanted to support the brand. There is one from Biore called Aquarich. It is an affordable spf. I will keep you posted as I have a few more to try still.

@Mellmars1185, that's good of you to support the brand, but completely understandable about costs for the product and shipping - yikes, shipping costs to Canada! 😬 The Biore Aquarich has a huuuuuge following, including a few BIC beauties. I've always thought about trying it, but my skin can be a little tempermental about chemical filters - some chemical SPF work fine for me, no problem; but not all. One of these days I will give it a try but am (or will be) living vicariously through all of you in the meantime.

@itsfi ooooo the scrub is now on my radar! The Tatcha The Kissu Lip Mask Original is one of my HG lip masks, but maybe it’s getting lonely in my drawer without its matching scrub partner????

Yes @cianni, they have to be together!!! 😅 That would make for a lovely Tatcha Kissu reunion. 😍 Your lips will thank you!

@itsfi  This picture screams summer!! Even if it isn’t exactly summer where you are! Today’s not summer here either but we need the cool weather! So many great favs! How did I not know that Tatcha has a scrub!!! And that Dior mask sounds delightful!!! Hope you have a great rest of your vacation!!

@ather, ahh, thank you! Summer is going by so fast! Oh, this Tatcha lip scrub only came out recently, along with a lip plumping balm (one of those that does sting). 

I think you may have told me already (sorry), but does it usually get warmer for you in late summer. It does for us: it tends to get a lot warmer in the traditional fall months, September to mid/late October.

@itsfi  Oooo this looks amazing!! We get a normal ish summer although this summer came late. But I blame winter was so mild. And it was Christmas and it was warm. So maybe that’s why. We just got the heat. We have had 2 ish weeks maybe. And depending on year we will have a nice August but it can cool off in September. I have pictures of snow in the beginning of September 😳. So it’s anything could happen. Oooo if you get a late summer but it is summer until fall that sounds amazing!!! 🤩

lol, could not resist those flip flops 🩴when I saw them @missjeanie. ♥️ There’s also a pair with thinner black and white stripes (and yes, I have those too) and a pair of black and white polka dots. Old Navy. I think they ship to Canada or have a Canadian website.

I say "stock up" @missjeanie! 😁 Errrr, unless you're on a no buy, in which case, ummmm.... aim for moderation? Hahaha! 

Long ago, ON had these at 50% off for Memorial Day (maybe they still do?) and it'd be $1/pair. I would pick up several sizes of these flip flops - for men, women and children - and I'd keep theme in my house for use when guests came over - for them to use in the house and to take with them.

@itsfi I love this idea!  I've seen people do that with having extras around at weddings for guests who perhaps wore some shoes that weren't made for dancin'.  I may need to borrow your idea and stock up some for my house as well.  Such a nice idea when you're hosting people!

Yes, flip flops at weddings = 👍🏼! Ooooh, I think you should pick up flip flops for houseguests @missjeanie. It comes in handy! I used to do slippers but that took up a lot of space when getting a bunch of sizes to have on hand. The flip flops have been a hit.

@itsfi We're very much a shoes off when you come in household (which I think is very normal here), but I have a hot tub in the back yard that will get used quite a bit and sure enough every winter there's someone who ends up going outside in their winter boots to get through the patio to the tub.  I'm going to pass by an Old Navy this weekend and I think flips are on my list now!

Lovely faves! And amazing photo! I love the idea of “tried and true”. I get so much incredible inspiration from these threads, the Clarins lip sounds fantastic, the idea of a one minute mask is fascinating. I’m so glad you have so many faves it’s so fun reflecting on them too. ❤️ @itsfi

I’ve been waiting for this thread to pop up, because I’ve had some really good luck with products this month!

Some of these are tried-and-true favourites, but a lot of them are products that are either newer to my collection, or are things that I’ve rediscovered/pulled out of the abyss that is my makeup/skincare/haircare storage and backup cupboard.

Here are my July obsessions!

• Urban Decay Hydromaniac Dewy Liquid Blush Red Flag - i was looking for a red blush for ages, and this formula is so dewy and fresh-looking on the face! It’s the perfect “i spent too much time in the sun” color
• LAWLESS Forget The Filler Lip Plumper Line Smoothing Gloss - i finished this out of my pan project, but its a product ill repurchase for sure
• L'Occitane Mini Hand Cream Cherry Blossom - blasting the AC dries out my hands at night for some reason, and the scent is lovely
• PATTERN by Tracee Ellis Ross Edge Tool - bought this originally for my postpartum baby hairs, but it works absolute magic for slicked back hair styles as well
• Briogeo Scalp Revival™ Rosemary Pre-Wash Scalp and Hair Oil 3.4 fl.oz. / 100 mL - I’ve been getting back into the practice of regular hair oiling, and i really like rosemary as haircare ingredient
• Herbivore Moon Fruit 1% Bakuchiol + Peptides Retinol Alternative Serum 1 oz / 30 ml - I haven’t been able to use retinol since March 2023, but ill be able to by the end of this year! I’m trying to work my way back up to it by starting with bakuchiol and eventually moving into low-strength retinol when i can
• Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 40 Sunscreen with Hyaluronic Acid + Niacinamide - love this all year round, but in the colder months i often use the Dr. Jart+ Cicapair ™ Tiger Grass Camo Drops Color Corrector SPF 35 1 oz / 30 mL because i have red patches in the winter
• Caudalie Moisturizing Fig Body Oil Elixir 3.4 oz / 100 ml - smells incredible, really hydrating and i love how it makes my arms and legs glow without makeup
• Speaking of body makeup, the Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Body Lava Body Luminizer Cognac Candy has re-entered the rotation! I love it on my shoulders and collar bones for a sunkissed glow
