Monthly Favorites: August 2024 Edition!

I hope you’ve had an amazing August, BIC. ✌🌞 As someone who thrives in colder weather, I tend to fall into laziness old habits when the weather is warm; I haven’t been too adventurous with my routines lately – but not saying that’s a bad thing! August had me reaching for tried-and-true products: ones that I knew wouldn’t fail me on a long summer day whether I was bopping around my neighborhood or jumping up and down at a music festival. 🎵

Here are some of the beauty goodies I’ve been using most this month:

For their price tag ( & any brand that, honestly in my opinion, has a HIGH price tag needs to offer minis or a sampler pack..I sadly haven't seen oribe offer a mini volume set, not even during holidays but I haven't shopped their direct site either @Mel231 

I have seen their gold & alchemy collection foil samples pop up in the sample selection so there's hope!

@sonnydee I love Yves Saint Laurent Lash Clash Extreme Volume Mascara .  I just bought restocks--in black AND I decided to try brown as well.

I got it in black both normal & Waterproof. Not sure why they discontinued their shock mascara 🤔 😢 maybe this took its place but I also went bold & got it in their blue shade. Blows people's mind when they see it (it's not drastic but my lashes are dark & full anyway naturally) just a fun dinner date ...Is that blue mascara? 💙💙💙🤣 @CookieGirl1

@Mel231 it's pretty!  Yves Saint Laurent Lash Clash Extreme Volume Mascara Noir is my favorite mascara anyway and I'm not used to wearing brown mascara but I like the formula so much that I can deal with the slightly more subtle color.

I feel that 😢 @CorgiMommy with some drybar shampoo & conditioner sets. Loved Texas tea & what they have replaced them with don't even come close. It did teach me a valuable lesson...to try new things but stock up on my loves just in case....I'm gonna try the oribe powder dry shampoo next (got a mini). Surprisingly their Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo 6 oz/ 286 mL  did nothing for me😢

NARS Powermatte High-Intensity Long-Lasting Lip Pencil Walkyrie - 180 
I've been using this almost everyday. I love it because it's so easy to put on in the car and it's a great, everyday shade on me. Especially when I'm undecided on which lipstick I want to wear that day. This was a GWP and I am definitely getting the Full size.

SEPHORA COLLECTION Sephora Colorful® Shadow and Liner Pencil Shimmered Olive green
Another car ready staple to look more put together. Whether I use it with or without mascara. I don't need a primer and it doesn't start creasing until later than the 12hr mark. I don't know if I'm delulu, but it seems to go with every outfit/color I have worn, lol.

Ami Colé Ultra-Flex Clear Eyebrow Shaping Gel Clear 
I dare say it performs better than the Milk makeup one? It keeps my brows in place and even fluffs 'em up! I apply it backwards, ruffling up the hairs then brush it down.

Rabanne mascara

I'm using up my gwp's and this one defines my lashes without much effort. Just like RB and Big by definition. I keep pressing it at the base of the lashes instead of coating the whole lash.

Touchland Power Mist Hydrating Hand Sanitizer Pure Lavender 
Getting back into the office (and people sick/cov*d), I have had to use this everyday. It keeps the germs away and doesn't dry out my hands or make them feel goopy like other hand sanitizers. Also, cuz there are people in the office who don't wash their hands after the restroom. I tried the Auto replenish system with this and I want to try a different set.

Three major favorites for me this month: 

Possibly the smallest batch of monthly faves I’ve ever shared on BIC.

Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Lift & Flex Hydrating Concealer With Hyaluronic Acid & Caffeine 11 - I love discovering a “what kind of witchcraft is this” product like this one. Like all concealers, Danessa’s will pool in my undereye lines if left unset. But with the tiniest bit of my favorite setting powder, this concealer stays where I put it while also moving (eh, “flexing”) with my skin. It looks like natural skin, sits well on my undereye texture (no primer needed), feels exceptionally lightweight, and I don’t need much to mask undereye discoloration. I bought shade 11 as a color correcting concealer and it works perfectly. Cannot praise this magic potion enough. 

COSRX Low pH Niacinamide Micellar Cleansing Water - my new favorite micellar water. On lazy girl or zero spoons nights, this stuff + a reusable bamboo/cotton round quickly removes makeup, sunscreen (though some heavy/greasy sunscreens need 2 rounds of this micellar water), and the day’s grime & cooties. It doesn’t strip or irritate my skin. Leaves no weird film behind. And it’s fragrance free. And it contains skin soothing madecassoside (a form of centella asiatica), panthenol, and allantoin, plus zinc PCA and of course niacinamide. I can just apply moisturizer afterward and call it a night. 

Foam dispenser - this was a GWP from COSRX. Yes, I’m aware foam dispensers have existed for decades and other products are packaged in them. 😂 But more recently, I’d seen a few people foam up their micellar water and I didn’t think it was all that special—until I put COSRX’s micellar water in this foamer and dispensed it. Y’all, it’s like wiping your face with a puffy cloud. It’s certainly more efficient and less messy (for me) than using micellar water in its original liquid form. (What, am I the only one who sometimes pours too much product onto a round/pad or accidentally splashes product beyond the round/pad?) And it’s fun! It’s especially nice when I feel crummy and rundown; gives me a 1-2 minute smile.

Never would have thought to foam up my micellar water (that I too get everywhere except the round sometimes) definitely gotta try this!!

@livemagically  It’s so much easier to get micellar water on the round in controllable foam form than liquid “you’re not the boss of me, I do what I want” form. 😂 Hope it works well for you if you try it!

@CookieGirl1 I might never have tried it myself had COSRX not gifted me 2 foam dispensers when I last restocked their micellar water. If you try it, I hope it works out for you!

I really like Danessa Myricks Beauty Yummy Skin Lift & Flex Hydrating Concealer With Hyaluronic Acid & Caffeine 5 too. It's a lovely product. I find it comfortable and it dosen't bother my dry skin either. That's a win win!
