Can I combine an oil with a water based moisturizer?

I have combo-oily skin and prone to breakouts. I currently mix in the biossance tea tree oil into my moisturizer but I’m almost finished and wanna try a new moisturizer. I was thinking about the belief aqua bomb (or any other so if you have any suggestions please let me know!). But yeah, I’m leaning towards getting that moisturizer but I heard you shouldn’t mix water and oil and I don’t know if aqua bomb counts. I know it may be a dumb question but please help!

Yes, you can mix oils with water-based products. Most moisturizers include both water and oils, so it's totally normal. Not to rain on your parade, and I'm not a doctor so feel free to ignore my advice, but for your skin type products containing fragrance can increase your skin's sensitivity (like that belif moisturizer). Tea Tree, while it has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, can also sensitize your skin (as most other essential/plant oils can), so combining it with added fragrance can make your skin angry and prone to even more breakouts because it's so sensitized. I'm not sure if you've ever had dermatitis, but it's not fun. If you want my advice (which, like, listen to me be such a whole butt about this, why would you want my advice?) I'd try out some much gentler, fragrance-free brands like CeraVe for moisturizers and Differin for pimples. Differin is actually pretty intense for an acne treatment, but it's gonna help maintain your skin's integrity. The Ordinary can even be a great option. Hope this wasn't too horrible to put up with.

I really appreciate the advice! I don’t have sensitive skin and I’m actually using the ordinary serum and I love it (niacinamide 10%+zinc 1%). I’ll definitely keep your advice in mind! 🙂
