Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Your mishaps are great stories @lmaster. But yeah, I hope no more chemical burns are in your future.

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

How do I keep forgetting to do a foot peel @lmaster ??? I want to get one in before Christmas.  I'm gonna check my stash as soon as I get home!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yes @missjeanie i love these peels, I just wish it only took a week tops 😂

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yes @lmaster ! I need to time out my use! I found one last night, but by the time I got home I couldn’t stay up long enough to use it. Hopefully tonight!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'm slow again but BIC has been working for me - yay! Thanks to @missjeanie for sending this mask my way. And there's two - so I'll get to use it again!

My face:

Spoiler
It was a pinkish gel that looks pretty clear when spread on the face.It was a pinkish gel that looks pretty clear when spread on the face.

This was a nice quick mask. Put it on, wait 5 minutes, massage it around, rinse off. I could definitely feel a "heat" when I put it on and massaged it. AHA working probably. I rinsed it off in the shower. Some parts of it took longer to get off, most likely because of the thickness of my application on some parts of my face. I'll say A-. I thought my face looked nice afterward but I'm thinking it is a mask you'd want to use regularly to see the benefits. Thanks again missjeanie for sending the mask(s) for me to try!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I used a Vichy mask the other day and liked it as well @ShortErica. May have to look for this one.

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I love this Vichy mask, @ShortErica. I bought and used up a FS after sampling it. Very cool that @missjeanie sent it your way!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sounds nice, @ShortErica. That's the only thing about these treatment masks with AHAs and such, I'm just so fickle when it comes to masking that it's hard to stick with one for a while to really give it the best opportunity to show results. At least the experience was a good one!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'm with you @quspork - it's more fun to try all the masks!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica Vichy is a nice brand, I currently use a hydration booster made by that brand 👍

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

What's the hydration booster @lmaster? I use the Mineral 89 - which seems to be marketed differently on every site - moisturizer, serum, booster, etc. Hahaha!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I see that @ShortErica  the one I use has hyaluronic acid

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oh hopefully not too much heat @ShortErica ! I know they sell these in larger containers but I like that You could get the sample sizes anytime without committing! Glad it was good to you!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Not too much heat but there was a sensation that I didn't know how else to describe @missjeanie. I've got to use masks I have before even thinking about tubs of masks. I feel like I have too many tubes of masks. The problems to have! 😉

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Tried out a new mask that i picked up from the Mask on the Moves box. Looks like the brand is Haruharu?

I was interested in this one because I love honey masks. First, the sheet mask is actually black which i wasn't expecting. No notable scent (no honey scent 😞 ) and didn't really make my skin any more hydrated. I don't think i would use this one again. Not bad but not great.

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ah, I would have hoped for better results, @scott1201 bummer. At least there were no bad reactions!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Aw, that's a shame. On the better ones, @scott1201.

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Awwwww @scott1201 sorry to hear it wasn't an impressive honey mask for you

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@scott1201  I always hope for a honey scent too. Hope your next MOTM mask is a great big winner!

Re: 2019 Q4 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Bummer @scott1201! Hopefully some of your other MOtM picks work out better!

Spoiler

It was all about the blueberries for yesterday’s masking. Started off with the AHA-based Trader Joe’s Blueberry & Acai Facial Scrub to slough away dead skin that winter has a special way of bringing out. Let me start off by saying that this smells like blueberry muffins. The scent lingers slightly, which was fine with me (umm, blueberry muffins, peeps!) but if the lingering scent of blueberries is not your thing, this will not be for you. This is a quick and easy to use – massage for 30 seconds, rinse off and pat dry with a microfiber towel. The results are wonderful – gentle exfoliation and clear, soft, smooth and hydrated skin. Oh, and did I mention it smells delicious?!!!

Continuing with the blueberry theme, I went with the new-to-me Wan Collagen Boost Green Mask. This mask is manufactured in Taiwan and distributed by a San Francisco based company; not sure if that counts for an Asian skincare brand, but I feel like it leans in that direction. 😉  It’s vegan, cruelty free and has no added fragrance.  It actually didn’t have a scent at all that I could detect. The material on this one is gloriously thin, adheres beautifully and feels so soft and comfortable on my skin. I initially thought this might be a Tencel mask but when I looked at the back of the package, turns out it’s made of eco-friendly bamboo fibers. I love bamboo as a skincare ingredient so it would make sense that I’d love this bamboo fiber mask material. Noteworthy ingredients include sodium hyaluronate, rice bran extract, spinach leaf powder, blueberry fruit extract and tangerine peel extract.

The fit of the mask is slightly off for my facial features but nothing that can’t be remedied with my trusty pair of mini scissors.  I don’t usually bother making any adjustments to the width  - it just means my hair gets some nutrients from the serum. The nose bridge and nose slits were also very wide, so I made some minor snips and folds to the excess material at the corners of the eyes, and I also take off about an inch from the chin/jawline.  I left the mask on for about 25 minutes – it started to feel like it was beginning to dry up in certain areas; I probably could have eeked out a full 30 minutes of wear time if I wanted to.  I was very pleased with the results – soft, bouncy, hydrated and moisturized skin.
