2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! We have outgrown the original thread started by the wonderful @Aaliaa and are beginning another masking journey. Many thanks to her and excited you are here. *Half-year update will be posted at the end of the month* To post:

Posting: Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

No 10 mask: The Japanese Sakura Blossom mask (from the resealable set of 7). 20190625_010304.jpgTake me back to Japan

This mask was a serum mask in a set of 7, part of a gift from a friend. I had no idea what I was getting myself into because the ingredients were in Japanese. Fit was slightly off- the eye holes were not quite large enough, but I made do. The smell was heavenly.  Is that what cherry blossoms smelled like?  It's been over 15 years since I lived there, I can't remember the smell anymore. The smell dissipated, but the memories of Japan remained.  The mask was lovely, and leaves my skin soft and...brighter a bit?  I have 6 more, which is good. I'm looking forward to them.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

You asked for it. Here’s a pic of my husband masking with me. I have on a hydrating lavender mask by Tony Moly and he has on Precision Beauty Skin Care Solutions charcoal purifying mask. We looked through my collection to see what he wanted to wear. Needless to say he got started on how we need to save money. But Baby, I got these when I still worked at Sally’s and they were buy one get one free plus my discount. And I had coupons plus a sale for the Ulta masks. And I got the TJ Maxx masks on clearance. And the Sephora masks I got with my $100 Rouge reward. So you see, I’m cost conscious. Smiley Very Happy Yeah, ok. Anyway, on to the masks.

368C5481-71CE-44C2-9154-2BF99EC7F3F2.jpegWhich one of you said something about the couple that masks together? Smiley Happy

Z is for zany, which is what my mask’s fit is like. Poor. Even smooshing it didn’t help. It smells good though, like lavender. My husband said his smells like soap. His fit way better than mine. We left them on for about 30 minutes. My mask started drying out, but his didn’t. After we removed the masks, we massaged in the essence. Then we looked in the mirror. Both of our faces looked smoother and brighter. I give my mask a B. It was good except the fit. He gives his an A. He really enjoyed himself y’all. He’s gonna mask with me again. Also, he asked if I had any more butt masks because he wants me to do another one, so y’all will probably get a review sometime this week. As for me, I’m considering masking every day this week to see how my face does. Besides, the more masks I use the more I can bring in, right? Smiley Very Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

This made me smile so big, @divaknits ! Your husband is such a good sport (with moisturized skin 😂)

RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Love it @divaknits ! What a good sport! You two look adorable here! My SO does masks sometimes too. After the first one now he requests them sometimes. He likes that it helps cool down before sleep. He also warmed up to my purchasing them when I explained how stalking discount stores and hunting down the best deals is part of the fun. He is big into hunting and fishing so he understood the thrill immediately.

Re: RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Thanks @Weetart ! We had a good time. He said if his family saw him they’d probably wonder what I’d done to him. Smiley Very Happy It’s fun masking with him. Y’all may hear from him again at some point. Happy to hear your SO likes them too. My husband thinks most men have to be forced to mask, but he wanted to do one. I was impressed.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Love this! I'm happy he was a good sport about it.  And the fact that he wants to do another again with you means perhaps he is starting to see the value in them, or he likes to have fun 😊

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I hope so @l8totheparty . He was all relaxed. Now I’m trying to get him to put on a sleeping mask. It wasn’t hard to get him to be in the pic. I think he gets a kick out of being in the BIC.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I am loooving your masking @divaknits! He is such a good sport. My husband asked tonight how much a mask costs🤔 In general, overall, I like to think I’ve become a smarter masker. It’s taken some time and there have been mistakes in the process, but it’s like any other hobby; you practice to get better.

👍🏼 to you and your masking partner😄

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I’m still working on becoming a smarter masker @eshoe . Right now I wanna try so many things. I tend to buy one of each mask because I’m still trying to figure out what I like. I did luck up and find another apple panda mask while I was digging through my stash. I’m saving that one for a special occasion since my Sally’s won’t be carrying them anymore. Smiley Sad I’ll have to find another source.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I decided for Dual week to try and do a three way comparison first.  The lovely @eshoe sent me a few of the SNP Jelly Vita masks (Clearing and hydrating) and I had another (Firming) and after trying all the Yadah back to back I thought it would be nice to try these ones all out in the same manner. I'm also now a Jelly Mask lover so yeah.

Today's mask ---  The SNP Jelly Vita Hydrating!

The jelly on this mask was less jelly like than the Yadah Jelly masks of last week, however it was certainly still worthy of the jelly name.  The mask material was the same mesh/filter like material as most of the yada masks from last week as well.  It fit fine, a bit of smooshing, and a quick snip at the eyes and I was happy.  The eye holes were a bit smaller and if someone isn't willing to do a few quick cuts it could be bothersome.  I had the mask on for 35 minutes and likely could have gone to 40. My skin felt like it was well hydrated, looked clear and had a lovely glow.  I'll use this one again with no qualms.  A lovely A mask for me!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie I have a couple of jelly masks and now I’m looking forward to trying them. Glad you liked it.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@missjeanie Happy to hear you liked this one! Jelly masks have become a favorite for me! I'll be interested to hear which is your favorite! 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Ah I’m just happy for your skin @missjeanie yeah these are definitely not as gelatinous as the Yadah ones 😉!

@missjeanie isn't jelly so much fun and soothing? so happ...

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

The last of my Week of Yaddah!

The Revitalizing Jelly Pack was a lovely mask!  I again, felt like my face just looked better.  I think most masks that I use give me a bit of a glow, and this was no exception.  My skin was plumped, any fine lines were diminished, my skin did look revitalized.  I've gotta say that this mask held up to the name.  There was no noticeable scent, and it had the same great jelly texture to the serum as the Soothing from earlier in the week.  The mask itself was the same mesh material (A natural cotton according to the package).  The fit was fine, (I don't mind a bit of smooshing or adding a slit at the outer corner of the eyes and cutting between the eyes), size wise it worked and it stayed stuck to my face.  I had the mask on for about 30 minutes and I could have gone with 45 I'm sure.  There was a bit of tackiness after I removed the mask, reminded me of the kind of tacky you'd get with a good oil, or moisturizer.  nothing crazy and it absorbed in after a bit.  My skin honestly felt like I could have skipped moisturizer.  I did however put on my night time skincare and it really glided on like nothing.  This mask was a beautiful experience and I'd recommend it to anyone.

My Week of Yadah didn't turn out as I expected.  I thought I'd still love my original snail collagen mask (grey packaging) the most, and it turns out, that I still love the serum, but the mask itself isn't the greatest.

1. Revitalizing Jelly

2. Soothing Jelly

3. Pore Care in Grey Package with black mask

4. Snail Collagen in Grey Package

5. Collagen all day in the Purple package

6. Aloe all day mask pack in Green

7. Rose all day in the Pink

Rose may have been above the aloe if I preferred Rose scents.  All in all, these were all great masks.  I wouldn't hesitate to use any of them again.

RE: Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Sounds like a great week of masking @missjeanie ! I bet your face loves it!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I'm all for skin looking better and beautiful experiences! @missjeanie  This sounds like a winner.
