2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Welcome to the second half of the challenge. Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I am pretty sleepy, so this may be slightly incoherent, but I wanted to post about Tuesday's mask so I don't get too far behind. I used the LookatMe Collagen mask with the cute pig on the front. It's a tencel mask. The front says it increases elasticity, though I'm not entirely sure what elastic skin necessarily feels like. Smiley Happy This too was gifted to me by the super generous @faeriegirl. Thank you!

I felt like it had a clean, somewhat florally type scent. I was surprised that the fit was quite different from the charcoal lookatme mask from the day before. I felt like this one seemed a lot larger overall and the nose bridge was much wider and the philtrum area seemed longer as well, though the mouth hole was pretty small. I wasn't really sure how to cut it, so I mainly just scrunched it down. I get a little nervous doing too much mask surgery once it's already on my face. By the way, fellow mask surgeons, do you usually just add little snips to fold it or do you ever actually cut off pieces of the fabric? Just curious. I've done both.

I kept it on for 25 minutes or so. There was a great deal of extra serum. Even though I had to do a great deal of scrunching to get it on, it did stay put the entire time and was still very moist after removal. There was still a lot of serum remaining on my face and a slight bit of tackiness, but not in a bothersome, sticky way. I felt like the results were very nice. My skin felt very soft and smooth, and it definitely had that glowy type of look for the rest of the day. My skin responds nicely to collagen, so I was definitely happy with the results even though it didn't fit my individual facial features that well. So another good one! Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Taking a break from LookAtMe and going with this Leaders Lifting mask, gifted to me by the lovely @ShortErica (thanks again!)😊8C9A088F-F9E3-43BC-9E39-5783776D11BE.jpeg

Spoiler

Leaders Mediu Amino Lifting Mask

This is a super thin and sorta meshy cotton sheet mask that was soaking with serum and had a pleasant clean and fresh scent. The scent was light and not too noticeable while the mask was on. The fit was great and was just a bit too long at the chin. It adhered well and was very comfortable to wear the 35 minutes to had it on. After removing it, the leftover serum absorbed quickly, but the tackiness stuck around for about a half hour. My face felt refreshed and nicely hydrated and my skin looked a little brighter, but I can't say I noticed any lifting - that may just be something I'd notice after more regular uses.

This is a nice one and I'd definitely use again, but out of the 3 from the line that I've tried, the AC-free is my favorite (also from ShortErica 😉)

2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

L is for my LOVE for Lavender. Started with the VS lavender hydrogel or as my mini likes to think of it has a jelly fish butt. I was curious to see if they had improved (it would come off in chunks before) and happy to report they have. its still slick & stuck between layers to help you maneuver it. it does have flaps for eyes & mouth...i didnt use them, I flipped them over. I didnt want to risk tasting anything. the smell is true lavender. I left it on for about 20 min and taking it off, it all was absorbed. Not tacky hardly at all. liked the mask before but might love it now😄💜Bite in lavender, a love. Fresh sugar polish another love. and like brtc sleeping. Might have to do the lavender mask wars this week.....😏💜💜💜💜💜5 out of 5 for all except brtc. its not bad but just meh...4 out of 5.

RE: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

L is for le lips 👄 i’m excited to try this KNC Beauty lip mask!

Re: RE: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Those are so fun to wear and take pictures with! <333

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

"L" is for L'oreal hair sheet mask steam treatment.   I was excited to use this unusual hair mask, which smelled so refreshing, and sans so many "bad" ingredients.   Prompted to take a look at the ingredients,  I see dimethicone,

knowing its drying to my hair type, I hesitated, but further along "ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL!   What are they thinking?!  No, not using, so here you have it, complete w/ pictures, in the event you may think of trying.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I am super late in getting my K week mask review in, so my apologies everyone!  K is for Kina.

20190914_170653.jpg

Spoiler
Kina Jelly Essence Nourishing:  I really liked this mask, so much so that I grabbed a 2nd box when I saw one this past weekend.  It really performed really well as not only was my skin hydrated, but I noticed a definite decrease in the fine lines around my eyes & forehead.  The mask itself was a little long, which I folded under my chin/jawline, and I left it on for about 30 minutes.  I do have 2 complaints/warnings though.  First, your skin stays tacky...I mean, it's not going away without moisturizer.  Second, I had some pilling occur just under the jawline when I applied moisturizer.  I've never had that happen with a mask before and it didn't occur on my face.  What I think may have caused it is the folding under of the elongated chin area & the serum pooling there during the masking session.  At any rate, the mask performed well enough for me that I can deal with the tackiness & I'll just cut the chin area next time to see if that prevents the pilling.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@mrsmouse fair warning on the tackiness!  I'll only try this in the evening.  Who am I kidding, 90% ish of my masking is done in the evenings. Smiley Happy

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@mrsmouse This one sounds so great! Tackiness doesn't really bother me, especially when the results are good!

- glad to hear that's the case with this one 👍😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Helps fine lines - yay! Tacky - um, boo. But a 2nd box says a lot @mrsmouse. I'll take late reviews all the time. It's so neat hearing what everyone tries. Smiley Happy

you know,, now that you mention that @mrsmouse I think that happened to me too

Re: you know,, now that you mention that @mrsmouse I think th...

@lmaster , Yeah it was kinda weird & certainly unexpected.  I can get past it though since it worked so well for me.  Smiley Wink

2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

my L yesterday was for Layering tonymoly I'm peach layering mask. it comes with 4 cute little peaches you can place wherever, I put one near the corner of my eyes where I have fine lines, and around my smile lines. then I placed the thin sheet on top which was dripping with a clear watery serum, there was quite a bit of extra serum in the package. the scent hmmmmm 🤪 not my preference by far, I could recognize peach, but it was like peach with a chemical scent to it,,, thank goodness I could not smell it while it was on my face. left the slices and sheet on for 20 minutes, and immediately after removing, my outer eye area felt extremely tight,,, interesting.... the rest of my face didn't feel that way, but it did feel and looked more plump and hydrated. if the scent was more attractive to me,, I'd probably put this mask on a VIP buy list, but as is, I will probably wait until there's another good deal on them from Ulta before restocking. it gets an A- for the odd scent combination, but would repurchase at a later time

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

It's such a bummer when a great mask doesn't smell good @lmaster .  Smiley Sad

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@mrsmouse I personally wasn't thrilled by the scent, but you could very well like it 🤷 great results anyhow

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster The results from this one sound great! I'm happy you enjoyed it, despite the odd scent - cute and functional is always nice 👍😉 I also like that peach fruit water is the first ingredient and peach fruit extract is the fourth 🙌🍑😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 I'm still confused about the scent, I do really love the ingredients and result

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster Sorry that the scent wasn't all that enjoyable, but glad it appeared to give good results. Hmmm...I wonder why your skin felt tight at first!?

I was thinking it dried out those areas @PrettyPaint but...

I was thinking it dried out those areas @PrettyPaint but I examined very closely and I'm convinced it was firming the area

Re: I was thinking it dried out those areas @PrettyPaint but...

@lmaster  Oh good! I was worried it would dry you out there, and that's definitely not a place where I need any added dryness. Firming is good, though! Smiley Happy
