C is for Cucumber
Last night's masking included a newbie (the sheet mask) and an oldie that I used a different way than I have in the past. The PTR rose mask worked out pretty well as a sleeping mask, so I decided to use the Peter Thomas Roth Cucumber Gel Mask Extreme Detoxifying Hydrator 5 oz as a sleeping mask as well. Of the two (PTR rose and cucumber), I prefer the rose one, but using the cucumber mask as a sleeping mask isn't bad at all; I like it better as a sleeping mask than a traditional wash of mask. As for the sheet mask,
@itsfi I never thought about trying it as a sleeping mask. Great idea!
@Cyncynn I got the idea from other maskers on BIC. 😃 The cucumber and rose masks have not been ones that I reach for often because I don’t feel like they do anything for my skin when I use them as a wash off mask but they work to keep skin hydrated as an overnight mask.
@itsfi bummer about this mask, it sounds a little meh. Aside from the ginseng-y scent that is 😉
It’s not a bad mask @eshoe, just have to adjust expectations.
@itsfi Thanks for all the info on this mask. I agree it’s a little strange that cucumber was not higher on the ingredients list.
Definitely strange @PrettyPaint! I mean, it is technically higher up on the list than the ginseng root extract, but it’s hardly high on the list. 🤷🏻♀️
It’s a decent mask @lmaster, nothing bad about it, but also nothing to make it a standout.
@Weetart I had some itching with one of the ptr as well. I think it was the rose one.
Sorry to hear about your skin's reaction to the PTR rose mask and the cucumber one, @Weetart. I don't experience any itching with either of them, but at the same time, I don't really see any standout results from using them either. To get through them, I'll use them as sleeping masks during the summer or I'll incorporate them as a quasi-DIY hand or foot mask - slather the mask on my hands or feet and then wrap them in a glove or sock.
@itsfi I definitely wouldn't have expected a ginseng scent from a cucumber mask! It probably should've had a picture of ginseng on the front 🤔 It's a bummer cucumber wasn't higher up in the ingredients, but it sounds like it turned out decent enough 😉
@Shosh85, this is one of those masks that (other than the scent) will be a good one to reach for, if you don't want to think about masking. I'm usually a fan of ginseng scents in mask but there was something about the fragrance on this one that made me wonder if I really liked ginseng scents. It faded away so it wasn't too bothersome, but yes, a photo of ginseng root on the packaging would have been a nice touch. 😉
I technically did this one a little over a month ago, but I wanted to wait until the peeling process had completed to give my thoughts on it and also, it fit it nicely with the theme for this week of Lip, Hand, Foot.
The Starskin Magic Hour Exfoliating Foot Mask
This is the fourth or fifth brand of foot peel mask that I've tried and was, by far, my least favorite. The directions say to leave the socks on for about 60-90 minutes, and I think I ended up wearing them over 2 hours. Nothing noticeable until about a week later, which is pretty typical of my feet and these types of masks. Then the peeling started, but this peeling was... lackluster? The skin didn't seem to peel as much as with previous masks and not as easily either. I found myself having to pick a little to get some of the spots "clean." I have one heel that just seems to stay dried out and this mask barely did anything for that area. In the end, this was not a winner for me and I wouldn't re-use it. D for just not being worth a darn!
@quspork I've used this before and no peel effect whatsoever. I tried the babyfoot one too and nothing either. I think my feet are beyond help lol
Thanks for sharing!
I'm sorry you aren't getting results from the peels, @Cyncynn!
So what you're saying is that you have a well-planned out masking calendar, @quspork? Mine isn't going so well this summer but I'm still game! 🙂
