2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Hello lovely masking mavens! Welcome to the second half of the challenge. Many thanks to the wonderful @Aaliaa for beginning this thread and excited you are here.

To Post:

Spoiler
Each week features a different theme, as well as a letter of the alphabet for coming up with new masking ideas. Feel free to post as frequently or infrequently as you would like, with or without following the challenge; they are guidelines and just something we do for fun. We love hearing about every masking experience, and suggestions are always welcomed!

Please include the brand and name of the mask you are trying out, as well as a photo if possible. Any other details are greatly appreciated, including scent, if it's an exfoliating mask (include acid info if known), your overall experience, and whether or not you would repurchase. Don't forget to include a grade (thanks to @ShortErica for the idea) to help others along the way.

Most importantly, have fun and merry masking!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I used The Creme Shop's Vitamin C Infused Face Mask. (C for Creme Shop and Vitamin C)!

By the way, this was gifted to me by @itsfi. Thank you again for sending me so many great things to try! Smiley Happy

Overall, I for sure liked this mask and would use it again. It actually said to keep this one on for 20-30 minutes. I left it on for around 20 minutes because my skin is sensitive, but I think I could have definitely handled the full 30 minutes (it didn't cause any sensitivity). There was more than enough serum, and it remained wet the entire time I wore it. It soaked in nicely after I removed the mask. Afterwards, I felt my skin looked brighter and felt refreshed.

The fit was a bit off for me, but I find that with most of the masks from this brand. The overall mask was pretty large for my face and the nose bridge was too wide, but I was still able to make it work and stay on!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

C is for Cosmetea, Centella,  control and care.

Care for my skin with Amorepacific Enzyme treatment Masque first. Tingly and fast, this 5 minute mask blasts skin and makes it smooth and even.  I love it.  AMOREPACIFIC - Treatment Enzyme Peeling Masque

Next came my Ordinary Niacinamide and then C for Centella.   This helps calms my skin.

I've been using the Frudia grape pore care for the last couple days, and it's causing my pores to produce less sebum so I've used Cosmetea mask to rehydrate.

It stays tacky for a while but it is nice.

2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

C is for CLIV premium mask the mask was thin and white with clear serum. the serum was adequately covering the entire mask, not too much extra to go around. the fit was so so, a bit wide everywhere but squished down nicely. the scent was subtle to me, nothing distinguishable. wear time for me was 20 minutes, the tackiness seemed to last for about 15 minutes and I did apply moisturizer at that time. end results were decent, my skin did look and feel nourished,a bit hydrated and bouncy, and lightly moisturized. would I seek this one out, probably not, i just have others I need to use first, but I'm happy to try it!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster Hydrated, bouncy and moisturized sounds like great results to me! I'm glad this worked out well for you 😃 I have the (red) ginseng berry one that I'm curious to try.

2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

found this super cool whole foods exfolating foot mask.... literally just fell into my lap 😉😘 this is day 2. I left it on for 3.5 hours,,, nothing at of yet... stay tuned

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Exciting times ahead! @lmaster I'm tuned in.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@lmaster   Oooooh 🙌 I'm super interested to hear how it turns out!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Oooh. 👀 This must be a new one @lmaster. I haven’t seen this one until now, but then again, it’s been some time since I’ve been into a Whole Foods (looks like that may change tomorrow; lol 😆). Very interested in your thoughts on this one and how it compares to other exfoliating foot masks.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Squeezing in another C mask today 😉EFF9CE74-04C2-4DD6-BD97-63A091B294BE.jpeg

Cosmetea Black Tea Mask

This is a thin and transparent cotton sheet mask they call cellulose fiber. It is saturated with a slimy, milky serum that had a nice scent, though it's difficult for me to describe. I think it did slightly resemble tea, with maybe a little sweetness and some floral mixed in?

The fit was very good and was only a little too long at the chin. The adherence was good and it was comfortable to wear. I had it on for me about 35 minutes. I massaged in the leftover serum and it absorbed quick but my skin felt sort of sticky to the touch. It took about 45 minutes for the sticky/tacky feel to completely go away, which makes me curious to try it as a primer. My skin definitely felt soothed and moisturized and also had some shine/glow to it.

I really enjoyed this one and will be happy to use up the ones I have!

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I have this one and I agree about the tackiness.  Just wish it wasn't so tacky. Otherwise i enjoyed it. @Shosh85

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@l8totheparty  I don't really mind tackiness so much, but I do get a little annoyed when my hair won't stop sticking to it 😂

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

I wish it didn't stay so tacky @Shosh85 but I do like this one too

Re: I wish it didn't stay so tacky @Shosh85 but I do like thi...

@lmaster  Yeah, this definitely had some tack to it! Normally I don't go longer than a half hour before putting on moisturizer, but I was curious to see if it would go away on its own. Everything else was so nice though 😃

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Yaaay for squeezing another mask in today @Shosh85! 😃 Happy to hear it was a good one, too. I have a feeling I have all 3 of these; I’ll get to them one of these days. Ha! Somewhat random question for you - how many full face sheet masks have you used in one day?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@itsfi "I'll get to them one of these days" is something I find myself saying often. Haha!

I love your questions 😉 I've done 3 masks in one day, once. That was a weird day where I woke up super early and went to bed real late and didn't go anywhere all day. Normally I do one a day, sometimes two on a weekend day. How about you?

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@Shosh85 Black tea is the best - better than the rest! Hahaha. Can't you squeeze in the other two as well tonight? Smiley Wink I didn't give the white a true test with tackiness but I thought the black tea was the most tacky so I'm nodding my head with your review.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

@ShortErica  I was thinking about doing the green tea tomorrow 👍 I never did buy the white tea one though - I almost did, but saw that it had alcohol so I put it back. I'm not totally against using masks with alcohol, I just didn't want 10 of them 😉

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Totally understandable @Shosh85. For a while the only one at my stores was the white tea and that's why I never took the plunge. I was lucky to get all 3 in unicorn mail. If I didn't have a million masks (feels like only a slight exaggeration) the black tea would probably be the one I would have picked up without trying as well as after trying them.

Re: 2019 Mask of the Week Challenge!

Week 29 - July 15 - 21 - C - Lip, Hand and Foot Masks

Cosmetea Comparison Continues...now @eshoe's sharing of the Green Tea Cosmetea joins the party. Thank you for sending me this one.

My face:

Spoiler
20190720_113742.jpg

Spoiler
  • Serum - similar to black tea, it was very wet but no dripping
  • Scent - I smelled the green tea but then there was something else. Something not as friendly to my nose. Ah-ha ingredient list - I see you tea tree. Too bad. And the smell lingered while wearing
  • Mask fit - same as all the others - very good, just wish the forehead was a little taller
  • Wear time - this one stayed moist even longer and I wore it 40 minutes while relaxing in the bath
  • Tackiness - I waited this time. It was slightly tacky after removal but faded to only a teensy bit with no moisturizer
  • Extra Serum - White Tea had the most. I'm not sure about Black Tea vs. this one. Probably similar. Frankenmask jar has 25 g of serum - condensed cotton has been added!
  • Results - Again, this was a nice mask. No wow factor but solid.

Grade: B. I think the smell was the issue for me. The fit, wear time and results were good. In my mind green tea stuff should smell like this20190720_122736.jpgI'm not a fan of green tea to drink but I like this perfume. Please don't ask how old it is. Maybe I got it in high school. Oops! Anyway this is what I expected to smell but the tea tree made it different and a bit unpleasant. I sprayed this afterward to verify it smells much better than the mask did.

Comparison of the Cosmetea:

Spoiler
    • Serum: all equal; black and white had milky serums while the green tea one was clear but all seemed to stay well on the mask
    • Scent: black > white > green
    • Mask fit: all equal
    • Wear time: green > black = white
    • Tackiness: green < black (white - unknown)
    • Extra Serum: white > black = green
    • Results: all had fine but different results. White definitely had the most brightening which is what it claims.
    • Overall: black > white > green

The tackiness in the black I can overlook the most easily by applying moisturizer. And I guess the alcohol in the white is less bothersome for me than the scent of the green tea.

I thought I did my Cosmetea and would Frankenmask tomorrow. Oh no! @missjeanie sent me another one so I might as well throw it into the ring. I plan to do the Frankenmask after sports mid-day and then end the night with the Lavender balance one to prep my skin for the week ahead. I'll update with a new recap.
