I agree the samples are things I can get with my 100 points or the sample bags they give out with $25 purchases. I am sending my boxes to my sister now. She has 2 girls and they don’t yet wear makeup out so they’ll have fun playing. Also my sister gives the samples to women at work. For almost a year I haven’t received anything I really wanted to try. Giving it to my sister saves me the postage of mailing it to her.
It irritates me too when I read that someone threw away their samples. If they are throwing samples away in the trash then what's the use in paying for a monthly box?? Throwing away samples in the trash is just throwing away their money. I don't get it. If I don't use a sample I give it away to someone who can use it.
I TOTALLY AGREE, I could not believe the Aug box, really , two actual sample packets of hair products (wasn't enough for one use with my hair) and off brands of JUNK. I do believe I'm done with Sephora PLAY!
Omg my thoughts exactly! The boxes are literally getting worse and worse... so disappointing! Every month I have a box of useless samples. Once in a while do I actually get things that I’ll use/like. I don’t understand why they even want your input if they’re just going to put a bunch of stuff that THEY want anyway. Womp womp!
Hi @skyemarief,
Thank you for your feedback! I will be forwarding this to our PLAY! team for review.
Best,
Rebecca
I totally agree. I am so absolutely disappointed; nothing matches my profile or fits my needs and the colors are awful. I just signed up for the Birch Box so I will give them a try; considering canceling the Play Box because every month is worse than the last and most times the products sit unused or I throw them away.
I personally LOVED birtch box they send new brands that are just coming out but I’m telling you they are good products I fell in love with a lot of new brand skin care bc of birtch box
Agreed! NONE of the things I receive match my beauty profile. I’m so sick of face masks and hair products. My hair is below my butt and they send me 20 oz samples I can’t even use. Not to mention mordbid color lipsticks/stains. Products have drastically changed and I’m not liking it!
I was Not impressed with my first play sephora box at all! My ipsy bag & Birchbox are much better! My Boxycharm is good too. I will give sephora a month or two longer to see if they improve, if Not I'm canceling sephora. Do any of you get Glossybox or the LookFantastic boxes?? If so are they worth it?
Glossy box is totally worth it
I had not heard of GlossyBox. Thanks for the time. The offers look dramatically better (certainly larger),but the price is twice the Play Box. I think I'll monitor Glossy for a while to see. If the Play boxes continue to be rarely related to my profile, I will probably switch. Thanks for the tip.
I just quit! My box was equally horrible. I realized that I can save the money and spend it on in store sample sizes that I might actually use. Everything I got last month immediately went into the trash bin. I didn't even a reason to palm them off onto someone else. They would have questioned my taste.
@skyemariefwrote:
What’s with the boxes as of late? I just got this months box and there’s maybe one product I’d even consider trying, which is the BB cream from Dr. Jart. Otherwise I got some hideous purple lip stain, which quite frankly looks like it came from a toddlers toy makeup kit, two hair products from brands I’ve never heard of, and Sephora eyeliner, which honestly has no pigmentation. When I first joined the subscription, they were sending out amazing brands like Smashbox, Olehenricksen, Benefit, Becca and much more. Now it’s several of their in house products and unknown brands. I’m really hoping it gets back to how it was, otherwise I’m certain they’ll be losing a significant amount of subscribers.
Box of Bad Taste
I just cancelled, too. I sub'd when they put out the Drunken Elephant teaser and got none of the products that were promoted as at least one to show up in your box. My experience was a bunch of Sephora brand products and that was really disappointing compared to all the other products being sampled. The second box I received was the anniversary celebration and I think just overall where they ended up going with that theme was a little on the boring side. I was pretty excited about the tips and tricks aspect of the sub, too, but there's not really much there in the way of tutorials. I'm keeping an eye out for spoilers for June but doubt I'll resub, I'm just not excited about what Sephora has done in the sub box space.
