Cheap Primers for Oily Skin

Okay y'all, I need some advice. I have oily skin problems, mostly around my nose and on my chin. I use a matte foundation and it's AMAZING, but half way through my day, my oil gets so bad to the point it will show through and crack my foundation causing it to look all patchy and eventually come off. 😞 Can anyone recommend a good Matte primer that's below $20? I had a few in mind, but I wanted some recommendations first. Thanks!! 😭💖

The elf primers do really well, I use the blemish control one, and HOLAYYY my foundation sticks on so well! It isn't until the 6th hour that my face will get slightly oily, but nothing but a little blotting sheets or powder will fix it! The Walmart that I get it from is under $10 and it lasts for months. hope this helps you!

Hi @Anonymous,

I also have oily skin and I have been loving the Bosica Porefecting White Charcoal Mattifying Treatment Primer. This primer controls shine and oiliness and it feels really nice on the skin.

I hope this helps!

Best Wishes,

Hi @Anonymous,

I'd recommend the SEPHORA COLLECTION
Beauty Amplifier Mattifying H2O Gel Primer. It's only $16 and is an amazing primer that I've really been loving lately! it keeps my matte and really helps my makeup apply on smoothly and last all day. (:

XOXO,
Marieke

Hi, SweetPeach97!

If you're on the fence with primers, I would recommend checking into brands that offer trial sized versions at a lower cost than their full sized options. This way you can test out which formula may work best for your skin and alongside your foundation.

Unfortunately there aren't many options in terms of full sized primer options from higher end brands carried by Sephora, but trial sized varieties can range from $12-$19. The below primers aim to target absorbing and keeping excess oil at bay, giving skin a smooth texture, and providing a soft, matte appearance to skin without drying it out.

Benefit's Porefessional, available at $12 for 0.25 oz.:

Smashbox's Iconic Photo Finish Primer, available at $16 for 0.5 oz.:

MUFE's Step 1 Skin Equalizing Mattifying Primer, available at $17 for 0.50 oz.:

Hourglass' Veil Miner Primer, available at $19 for 0.33 oz.:

If you do the math on the Benefit and Hourglass formulas, it's actually a better deal to eventually purchase their full/standard size packaging as this can save a few dollars compared with buying the 3 trial size tubes it'd take to equate to the same amount of product in the full size. For Smashbox and MUFE, it's actually a better deal to purchase their minis as this can save a few dollars. Smashbox's standard 1 oz. Iconic Primer is $36, so for buying 2 of the 0.50 oz. tubes and paying $32, you're getting the same amount of product and saving $4. For MUFE's Mattifyng Primer, the full 1 oz. size is $37 while buying two of the trial tubes will only set you back $34, saving your $3.
