J.Lo Beauty and Skincare

Who else is excited??

Honestly, even if I like her, and im not one of those crazy fans, i do like some of her music, shes a good actress etc, but still having said that, im not blindly thinking that anything that she would release would be good for sure, I still will take my time before I would purchase something.

One thing I hope she does though, is that she would re-release her original perfume Glow; I think that was the name. At the time it came out, I was not able to get it, then they stopped producing it, so I really hope she would do that, even for a limited time, I am ready.

Things I might get? Highlighters, maybe a bronzer. As for the skincare side, we will see.

I also really hope that she wouldnt make her products as expensive as the brands she currently uses (one is Lancer).

What do you guys think?  🙂

Re: J.Lo Beauty and Skincare

No.  No--a thousand times--NO.  I'm exhausted with the celebrity brands.  It's one thing if a brand is launched by someone like Pat McGrath--you know, an actual makeup artist who knows the business, has paid her dues, and who has put the work into research and development before launching products for consumers.  I was skeptical about Fenty Beauty, but I do like the cream blushes and bronzers, which are difficult for darker skinned women to find.  I also appreciate the time and effort Rihanna and her team put into researching undertones and creating complexion products that anyone can use.

I'm neutral about Rare Beauty and can appreciate what Selena Gomez has done, as her heart is in the right place. I doubt I will be purchasing anything from the line though.  As for Jennifer Lopez--not interested.  Don't even get me started on anything Kardashian related.  If you have gotten extensive plastic surgery to the point where you no longer resemble what you used to look like, I'm not interested in buying your beauty or skincare products .  The fact that these girls are out here buying lip products from Kylie, who finally had to admit that she had something done to her lips, is an absurd joke.

Re: J.Lo Beauty and Skincare

I'm basically indifferent on most new brands unless they have a hero product that wows me. I'm definitely not interested in more bronzers or highlighters of unknown quality until everyone on here says they are indeed getting that JLO glow. lol. I did buy some stuff from the Victoria Beckham with Estee Lauder collab years ago. But only after seeing really good reviews and swatches.

I would also say that these celeb brands are way better than the Urban Decay, ABH, Becca, Morphe, etc. collabs with youtubers. I'm sorry but most of them are terrible, low quality and poorly thought out products. Especially in comparison to the brands normal offerings. In contrast, what Fenty, Victoria Beckham or Rare Beauty have produced seem much higher quality. I can't speak about the Kardashian stuff because I refuse to be interested. 🙂

As for celebs doing brand extensions, I read once something like if a big celeb can get just 10% or even 1% of her followers to buy the product (whatever it is), it's probably 1000x the sale for a normal brand by a normal person that comes out. JLo has 131M followers on Instagram alone. Selena has 192M followers. So if 1M or 10M or 20M people buy something, that's actually considered crazy numbers for the business. I don't think it will stop.....

Re: J.Lo Beauty and Skincare

@Emy10 I'm personally tired of celebrity-driven beauty lines, but that's just me.  I think the only one that ever piqued my interest was Victoria Beckham, and I didn't even make a purchase.  I was personally a little down to see that Sephora is carrying Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez.  IDK if it's in stores, but there are other brands I'd like to see taking up shelf space in brick and mortar.

@greeneyedgirl107

I 100% agree!  I'm not a huge fan of celebrity products either.  I've see a lot of celebrity products, especially perfumes being sold at places like Target, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls so they definitely give off a cheap, Made in China vibe.

It sucks that celebrities like Kylie Jenner can make any cheap quality product and sell it for huge amounts of profit just because of their fame and marketing strategies.  And in all honesty, their products are never that good.

I really can't wait for Sephora to start selling products from Black owned businesses.  I haven't heard much from them after they posted theWhich Black-owned beauty and wellness brands do you want to see at Sephora? thread.

They promised that 15% Pledge so hopefully we see something soon.

Re: J.Lo Beauty and Skincare

I agree with most of the things you guys said, and Kylie? 😂😂😂

I feel bad for the teen girls that see her as a role model, it's just sad.

Victoria Beckam was mentioned xD, but I honestly have nothing to say because I never understood the hype about her.

As for Jennifer Lopez, I feel like it would be different, she had quality perfumes and she said herself that shes been working on this since over a year now because she wants things to be legit.

Having said that, it doesnt mean they will, we dont know, and also not everyone will like her products because not everyone likes her.

I never liked Selena Golez music, just no interest in her as an artist, but alot of people like her, mostly teens I think, but still.

@Emy10

I guess the reason I personally don't trust celebrity makeup brands is because I've seen them being sold at cheap stores at drug store prices or use their fame to sell.  I remember seeing Brittany Spears, Justin Bieber, Jessica Simpson, etc. perfumes at discount stores when I was younger so I have that memory engraved 😂

With celebrity products being sold at Sephora, I have a bit more hope that they'll be higher quality.  I like some of Rihanna's products so hopefully Selena's will be just as good.  I'll have to wait and see the reviews before purchasing anything, as I do with any new products.

I choose products based on the quality and effectiveness of it, not because it's from a celebrity I do or don't like.

Re: J.Lo Beauty and Skincare

@Emy10 I understand. I feel the same way about Rare Beauty. I'm just so used to what I wear.

I would wait until her next releases to see what Selena and Jennifer Lopez adds to their collection. I started wearing Fenty Beauty two years after it first launched. I have oily skin so they would need something mattifying for sure. I don't like the when a brand makes one type of foundation for all skin types. I'll wait until the brands are more established, then I might take a second look.

Re: J.Lo Beauty and Skincare

@Emy10  I hadn't heard...but I remember when her perfume came out long ago (yes it was called glow by j.lo) and seeing ads for it all the time lol.  I think it was one of the first celeb perfumes (or was britney first? lol).  I liked the after dark version, and have been hoping I still have it around here somewhere and can find it...

Re: J.Lo Beauty and Skincare

@treestar86 yes, J.Lo released many perfumes, but the only scent i like is her original one.

Also, we still see it on the internet, Ebay, Amazon, and some other website, but those are fake.

Best way to know its fake: It comes from NY or China, also when they have many in stock.

Its been out of stock for MANY years. I read and searched about perfumes fraud, and, most times the product comes from those places, they are fake. NY is sadly reputed for they're fraud market, im not just saying this like that in case some people might get offended lol

@Anonymous i used to like a few products from Fenty (the original gloss and a few other items), but i dont like them anymore, something about the smell and feeling of them. Im not saying its a bad brand, just not for me.

About Rare Beauty, i never liked Selena Gomez and so i have no interest in her brandings; its also the same with other people not liking J.Lo and not caring about anything she does.

Also, has anyone heard or read anything about J.Lo Beauty release date? Do we know if it might be release this year or next year??
