Help - Sephora Pro brushes Vs Wayne Goss or other?

Hi,

I have one brush set for taste but I was looking to buy some nice ones as Christmas gift to myself. I was looking into Sephora pro brush set but when researching I read a lot of good things about Wayne Goss brushes. Individually they seem to be similar price as Sephora pro (Sephora pro set is cheaper though esp with rouge sale). Since it won't be so easy to return Wayne Goss brushes, I wanted to ask for recommendation here.

Not sure if Wayne Goss brushes would be part of Beautylish lucky bag and people would be interested in trading, I have some Drunk Elephant skin care that I could trade. Would it be wise to wait for the trade or just buy them during nov-dec sale if I find any.

I am ok to just start with few eye brushes and collect more later as needed based on recommendation here.

RE: Help - Sephora Pro brushes Vs Wayne Goss or other?

I’m interested in this thread because I’m considering getting Wayne’s brush set this year

Re: Help - Sephora Pro brushes Vs Wayne Goss or other?

Hello @naturalooks15 !

I currently own one Sephora pro brush, the crease one which I love.

I own 4 Wayne Goss Brushes. I have the Air Brush which I like, I have the 08 brush which I think is ok I like the cat eye brush I got from Too Faced better for what I use it for, the 06 brush which is my everyday go to brush I use, and the 2017 Holiday Brush which I wasn't too happy with.

Re: Help - Sephora Pro brushes Vs Wayne Goss or other?

@naturalooks15 I don't own any Wayne Goss, but I have a few Sephora Pro brushes. I can tell you that from all these, the only one to shed is the #10 crease brush.

Re: Help - Sephora Pro brushes Vs Wayne Goss or other?

I only have one Sephora Pro brush, a crease brush, that I’ve had for years and love. I also have the regular collection “tools of the trade” set, which I have been happy with, especially the eye brushes and the precision contour one. They have held up nicely and apply well, but I do see a bit of difference between those and the pro one. I don’t own any Wayne Goss brushes because I don’t feel like my makeup skills and daily application warrant them, but they seem to have a great reputation for a reason.

I think it kind of depends on your needs and holes you may have in your collection. If you need a more robust wide ranging set, maybe go for Sephora. If you only need a select few and Wayne Goss has a set that fits that, then go for it, or buy them individually. There are some pretty in depth reviews out there on YouTube of people delving in to Wayne Goss, so that might be a resource, too. I would probably start with Stephanie Nicole. I also think I wouldn’t count on getting them in the Lucky Bag, or via a trade if you really have your heart set on them. I would be super disappointed if I spent a lot of money on the bag and didn’t receive them. I would regret not just putting that money towards a set I knew I wanted.

Re: Help - Sephora Pro brushes Vs Wayne Goss or other?

@snoflakefaerie Funny you mentioned Stephanie Nicole, I saw her review video and that is what turned me to Wayne brushes. I like her reviews and like the fact that she doesn’t do paid videos and seems honest.

I am not in ‘Got to have it now’ mode for those brushes. So I am ok to buy slowly.  I don’t have any collection. Just bought a small 5 brushes Tarte set in last years sale.

does Beautylish has any sale or new customer discount?

Re: Help - Sephora Pro brushes Vs Wayne Goss or other?

@naturalooks15 Beautylish never has any sales. The only thing they have is the gift card event that already happened for every $100 spent you get a $20 gift card.

Re: Help - Sephora Pro brushes Vs Wayne Goss or other?

@naturalooks15 I have one Wayne Goss brush from last years Beautylish lucky bag that I haven’t used yet. I have so many brushes from when I went to makeup school and freelanced that I forget I have them.  I love MAC brushes if you want to start off with some good quality brushes. I have had mine for over 9 years and they still are in tact and work. A cheaper choice would be Real Techniques, Morphe, and Japanesque.  Inglot also makes really good brushes. On the higher end Tom Ford is one of the best brushes I have used.  If you need any help with brushes just let me know. I have a collection from different brands.

@SportyGirly125 This is the Sephora set I was thinking about. Do you have any Sephora Pro? SEPHORA COLLECTION - PRO Essential Brush Set: Rose Gold Edition

Re: Help - Sephora Pro brushes Vs Wayne Goss or other?

@naturalooks15 The only ones I have are from the Rouge renewal gifts that I never used. Sorry.

RE: Help - Sephora Pro brushes Vs Wayne Goss or other?

Hi! I don’t own any Wayne Goss brushes, but I do own a couple of Smith brushes that are great quality!

Re: RE: Help - Sephora Pro brushes Vs Wayne Goss or other?

@Na0miRose I want to try smith’s crease brush but it has been OOS for months. Not sure if they are restocking either.

RE: Re: RE: Help - Sephora Pro brushes Vs Wayne Goss or other?

Yes! My favorite YouTuber has raved about Smith brushes. I managed to grab a couple crease brushes (230 and 232) a few weeks back. They must have did a very small restock as they sold out very quick. I hope they do restock sometime in the next year haha as I’d like to get some back ups

Re: RE: Help - Sephora Pro brushes Vs Wayne Goss or other?

@Na0miRose I have not heard of that brand.
