Posting May empties on the 1st of June... who am I??? Lol, I think I may have snagged photos of April, then totally missed posting.
So, good month, but bad month... I had a run in with something my skin didn't like so I went really basic for most of the month to try and get my face back to what is normal for me. That said, not bad with 34 empties for the month and a running 2024 total of 176. My goal is always to use more than I purchase in a year. Not sure I'll hit that so I'll be happy if I use up one and a half things per day.
These are all of my "I'll pass" items for the month. -SC Body Scrub, this was okay, but had more oil in it than I prefer, so it didn't strip my skin, but it also didn't give me the gritty scrub I love. -Gloss Moderne Scrub. The scrubby bits in this dissolved almost instantly. It was okay otherwise, but I want to actually scrub with a scrub, not just watch it turn to nothing. -Pinrose Merry Maker. This was just okay. It was quick to use up and easy to pop into a pocket or purse so bonus for that. -The Prideful masks, may have been the cause of my skin issues. I haven't used this brand before and it was right after using them three days in a row that my skin took a massive turn for the worst. Since it's a new to me brand.. I'm hesitant to use the others I have, and when I do, it will be with a few days in between for sure. -The 'sleeping' sheet mask was... meh. Fine, but I'm not big on camomile or lavender so I wouldn't seek it out.
My "these were fine" pile. -Kokie translucent powder. This was okay. It set fine, didn't leave a cast, didn't make me cakey, but also didn't wow me. It was quick to use up and I appreciate that I was easily able to shake some out into the lid to use with my brush. It was also easy to pop the sifter off to get the last of the product out too. -Laura Mercier Volume Mascara. This wasn't giving any major volume, and it did transfer to my under eye area just a touch. It was easily fixed, but I'd rather if it just didn't do that at all. It also got very... gloopy... after about a month. A lot of mascara this size will last me three months so that was disappointing. It wasn't a bad look once it was on the lashes, just didn't wow me. - PTR Pumpkin mask. Okay. I like the mask. The reason this isn't a total win for me is the sheer size of the jar. I've been using this since before the pandemic. One mask jar should not last that long. I know I don't use the same mask every time I mask, but come on. I think this one just needs to be a MUCH smaller jar for me. I did like the formula if I stuck to once a week though. -First Aid Beauty Hydrating Serum. This was nice enough in my routine, but nothing made me want to buy a full size. It's just okay. I'd use it again without a second thought, but wouldn't seek it out. -Milk Make Up Watermelon Mask. This was pretty dried out when I went to use it last month. I ran the stick under some warm water and used it on my face, wet it again and used the rest on my neck/decollate/torso to use up the entire stick in one go since it was pretty done. Did it do anything at all to my skin? No idea. I'm also not sold it did a whole lot when I first had it open either. I will however say I like the stick format. I would for sure buy the format again, just maybe not this particular version. -Lasante Neck Patch. This is interesting. The patch itself is more of a patch than a sheet mask. It stays hydrated on my neck for over an hour. I have a few more that I'll use up, but... does it do anything my regular skincare doesn't? Also... don't fall asleep in bed with this on. It will 100% be stuck to your pillowcase when you wake up leaving you with marks on your face until you're at work.
And my loves for the month! -Hum Nutrition Beauty ZZZ's... they did help me fall asleep! I didn't stay asleep any more than usual, but I already have another jar and am glad to have them. I have a habit of thinking too much when I go to lay in bed rather than actually falling asleep. -Trader Joe Mango Tangerine Candle. Yes. More Please Sir. -Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer. I've tried this in the past and wasn't wow'd. Was never sure that primers really helped my make up last longer or look better. I used up the entire jar and was perturbed when I couldn't get the last of it out of the bottom of the jar. That was a sign. I have a few more of these little guys to use up, but I may buy a full size primer for the first time in a looooong time. Got two more days out of this little guy when I popped the top off. -Dr. Jart BB Cream. I like this. I know there are some that it looks grey on, but it just works over here. I thought I was having issues getting the last out of the pump so also dug into this one. The outside hard gold packaging snaps apart easily and it's a silver bag inside. Was nice to be able to see that I was actually done the product. I've used up a few of these in the past and have a fresh one to crack into already opened. -Differin Gel. I used this up when I was trying to get my skin back on track before going back into my retinol. Good little tube to keep on hand. Will pick up more when I happen to see it in the US as this is a prescription product in Canada. -Dr Jart Vital Hydra Solution. I used this as a hydrating serum. LOVE it. The texture is great, it sinks in nicely, plays well with others, and really does hydrate my skin. Will also look into a full size once I've used up some products here. -PTR Water Drench SPF 45. This was out of the Sephora Favourites Sun Safety Kit. Great SPF. I've used it before and know that my skin likes it. Very curious to see the tinted version in store. Could easily see my self grabbing one of these at some point as well after I've worked through some SPF stash this summer. Has a gel to water consistency that feels nice and I love my SPF to be over a 40. -Feria Hair Dye. I started dying myself during Covid and just never went back to the salon. This is easy enough, I just need to be better about not waiting so long to do it. -DDG Peel Pads. I could have sworn I used more than one of these when away for work last month. They may not have made it into the empties bag. Easy to use. Feels a bit wasteful in the single use packaging, but great for travel! I'm sure more consistent use would benefit me. -Secret Deodorant. I've been using 'natural' deodorants since getting gifted a Briogio one a few years back. I was finding that lately it just wasn't giving me enough and randomly picked this up in the grocery store. Ya... I'm back on the 'chemical' wagon. It's just lasting longer and giving some antiperspirant too. -Dr Jart Ceramidin Creme. I've loved this stuff for years now. I just saw it on sale on IPSY and picked up two more tubes. I tend to use it less in the summer and more in the winter but I know I'll be reaching for it so it was a worth picking up some back ups. When my skin goes crazy dry. This is what fixes it. Now that I'm seeing it... I like a lot of Dr. Jart products. -Pink Clip. I used this to clip up hair when using the Dyson AirWrap. I also would clip it onto a sweater all winter to put my hair up midday. It finally died. RIP. Anyone else ever get stuck in a rut of using the exact same hair clip/elastic/scrunchie for a ridiculous period of time then mourn it when it bites the dust? Just me? -Look at Me eye patches. There are a few different varieties here and I can't tell the difference with any of them. But I like that they're the 'sticker' type and they stay on for however long I want them to. Easy to use, easy to pick up for a steal, and I find them more convenient than a full sheet mask. I've got lots of eye masks at the moment, but some day I'll buy more. -Morning Mask. This was found at Wal Mart I think? Either way. I like a quick mask. Didn't feel like I wasn't making full use by only wearing it for a few minutes. Was lovely at hydration and moisture. I'd use it again. -Tony Moly Egg Cream mask. Love this one. The material feels so soft and silky. The serum is equally silky. Leaves my skin feeling beautiful. This is a gem of a mask.
@missjeanie Amazing! I need to follow your goal of using more than you purchase. It just makes so much sense! I had the same issue with the Milk Makeup skincare sticks drying out.
Lol @missjeanie I'm the same about a good clip or hair tie etc.. I end up having a favorite that I use *alot* and when it breaks I feel the loss 😭😂 R.I.P to your beloved clip.
Great work with everything this month. I never have bought a full size mask of PTR, they do look huge and hearing how long it takes to finish them, it just sounds to long for me.
@CynthieLu They're huge. If you're someone who will use it every few days and use nothing but that mask, it might be worth it. They're great masks, but I'm just the person who wants to always try new things, so smaller sizes are better for me.
@missjeanie Rip pink clip! Wow I don't know if I'll ever see the end of a setting powder. You knocked these all out of the park this month!!!! I love that PTR but agree about the size. I had the algae one and after a few years I just started using it heavy and slathering it to get rid of it.
@Samtian I know that I've seen smaller sizes in stores in gift packs.... those need to be stand alone products too. It's put me off buying more of their masks simply because I know I won't get through it for 30 years. Full body masking with the PTR may be the only way to go!
