Re: Empties - V2

And last but not least... December 2023 with 41 products for a yearly total of 338 empties.  Now I do count all empties as 1, be it foil or full size.  I'm sure there were things that got tossed through the year, or returned to MAC etc etc.  I made my goal of 550 hoping to do way more sheet masks over the last year, but the reality is that I slow way down on empties in the summer months and my sheet masking is sporadic at best. Since I've started keeping track 389 has been my highest number, so I think 2024 is going to be a year where I aim for 365 empties and if I can go over... bonus!

LOVES
-Softsoap in Coconut Hibiscus -- I just like this one to refill my glass hand wash bottles in the washrooms.  It's such a pretty scent.
-DE Protini -- I need to remember to save this bottle and add a refill to my list to purchase.  I don't find this to be moisturizing enough to wear at night alone, but it's fine for a day time moisturizer and I'd like to test it out in the summer months again as it's been a few years since I've used the full size.
-Christophe Robin Scalp Scrub is just lovely, great combo of scrubby and lather and really does clean the scalp.  I only use this once a month and can get 3 uses out of these tiny sample sizes so it'll be a while before I need to buy any.
-YTTP Superberry Dream mask.  This is so nice.  I have a full size waiting for me already. Love the creamsicle scent and it goes on so nicely.
-Joico Hair Colour -- Love.
-Kate Sommerville Exfolikate -- I don't use this often but have gone through full size tubes a few times.  It's a lovely mechanical exfoliator that fills my desire to scrub.
-Amika mirrorball S&C was so nice.  I love having the sample packets for travel and can get two uses out of each packet.  WIll purchase full size at some point for sure. Love that it's not crazy expensive.  Amika has become a favourite haircare brand over the last four or five years.
-Merit foundation stick.  I'd like to try this out more and take a closer look at the ingredient list.  But I could see a purchase of this happening after I've worked through a few foundation products.
-Dr Jart Peeling Solution was lovely!  I found it did a great job exfoliating without stripping.

LIKES
-Glow Recipie BHA/AHA serum was nice enough, but I didn't have enough in here to make a decision on a full size or not.
-Glossier You fragrance was lovely as well.  it could easily be an everyday fragrance for when you just don't want to think about what to wear.
-Eye Gel patches in the Aloe Vera variety, these are great, I just need to remember to use them more often.  I'm now finding that my SO is willing to try out more skincare and these are one that he's into when we're traveling so I'll try to remember to pack them and use some up that way.
- Neogen Milk Cream sheet masks - These are a great fabric that really hugs the facial contours and the creamyness of the serum is a great hydrator and moisturizer.

MEH
-JVN Strengthening Shampoo was okay but I have others I prefer.  I was glad to try it and do like the metal bottle with pump.
-Native Toothpaste in Candy Cane... was kinda weird to brush my teeth and think of candy.
-UD Hydromaniac - I've heard great reviews of this, but the sample size was so small I had to use two shades to cover my face once.  Would need more to accurately determine if I like it.
-The two slice mask sheets were fun to use with my nieces but I'd rather a mask that covers my entire face.  Good to use with kids though who thought it was great.  Very instagramable too lol.
-Other masks were all fine, but nothing spectacular.
-Loveshack fancy fragrance wasn't for me, it was more floral than I prefer.
-Other samples were too small to really make a call on.

PASS
-This was the last of the hair masks with the foil cap.  I ditched the foil cap and used the mask three separate times.  Felt wasteful to toss the cap, and the mask was just meh.
-Random hand sanitizer... this one was okay.  I used it to refill a smaller bottle in my truck. Would not purchase again.  Not really sure even where this one came from.
-Yes to Argan Oil mud mask made my face itchy.  No thank you.
-Origins Drink Up Intensive overnight mask -- this smelled lovely, but I used it up on my legs as it left a residue on my face that I was not keen on.
-PTR Firmx Peeling Gel... so gimicky.  The gel doesn't lift off your skin and have your skin balling up.  The product balls up on itself.  There were exfoliating ingredients in here, but if you tried rolling it off it made a giant mess.  I ended up using it up by washing off with a washcloth in the shower.

Re: Empties - V2

@missjeanie Great empties! I also love the coconut hibiscus softsoap scent. I have had guests come over asking what soap it is because they enjoyed the scent. You mentioned the PTR Peel gel - I have 3 peeling gels and I find they all do the same thing. They all ball up. I was never sure if it was my skin or the product. I paid quite a bit for them also .

Re: Empties - V2

@Mellmars1185 I've bought some higher end hand soaps and I always go back to the Coconut Hibiscus!  It's so nice.

I swear those gels are just balling up on themselves.  I've tried a few random ones in addition to the PTR and I'm not convinced they did much for me.

Re: Empties - V2

@missjeanie  Wonderful job💕

Re: Empties - V2

@Cissy63 Thanks!  I need to go through things in order to justify my shopping lol

Re: Empties - V2

@missjeaniegreat job! You did awesome 🎊

Re: Empties - V2

Thank you! 💙

Re: Empties - V2

I just caught up reading through your posts @missjeanie you slayed your empties this year! Congratulations! 🎉🎉

Re: Empties - V2

@CynthieLu Thank you!  I'm hoping to really push myself this year and use more than I buy.  And to update a little more frequently than three times a year lol

Re: Empties - V2

You got this! @missjeanie  And even if your numbers slightly go down, you'll know it reflects your more thoughtful purchasing habits. 🕊 💕

Re: Empties - V2

Congratulations on such an amazing job getting through products @missjeanie

Re: Empties - V2

@lmaster Thanks!  Forever trying to use more than I buy! lol

Re: Empties - V2

@missjeanie wow, congrats on going through THAT many Empties!

Re: Empties - V2

Thanks @CookieGirl1 I didn't think there were that many until I started pulling the bags out from under the sink lol

Re: Empties - V2

You cleaned house in December @missjeanie! 41 empties?! 👏 That's fantastic! 🙌 That's an impressive empties goal for this year - about one empty a day (I forgot we're in a leap year). My empties count goes up during the cooloer months as well - I'm more likely to be burning candles and using sheet masks more frequently then. Hmmm.... candle and sheet mask use going hand-in-hand, who knew?!! 😂 Good luck with your 2024 empties goal; I have confidence in you - you got this!

Re: Empties - V2

@itsfi I feel like one a day is reasonable since I count foils and sample sizes.  If I could get myself sheet masking more year round I'd be on a real roll!  Funny you mention candles... I have on burning right now beside me... while I've a sheet mask on! lol

Re: Empties - V2

Awesome job with all your empties @missjeanie !  Congrats on making your goal!

Re: Empties - V2

So many empties @faeriegirl ... fingers crossed I can do a better job of whittling down my stash this year!

Re: Empties - V2

October and November 2023, 40 for the two months making 297 for the year, goal of 550... it's looking like the goal was quite a long shot lol.

LOVES
-Qtips... look... I know I'm not supposed to put them in my ears... But I feel the need to clean my ears after every shower.  If Q tips and ice cream are my worst vices... well... here we are.
-Feria Hair dye.... broken record at this point.
-Gel Moments Flake Off, this is to get my gel polish off.  Yes, Gel Moments is an MLM... but dang if I don't like the products.
-Colour Wow -- I got a smaller one to try and I really like it.  I use it before my air wrap and it really does make my hair nice and shiny.  I'll end up purchasing a full size once I've gotten through some hair care products.
-Kayali Vanila 28 and Eden Juicy Apple... are both now on my list to purchase.  The question is only if I go full size or travel. They are lovely alone or layered together.
-Summer Fridays CC me serum.  I really like this as a vitamin C serum and am happy to have another to use.  I've actually loved a lot of Summer Fridays products and am eager to work through some stash to try more.
-Uoma Beauty tinted brow gel.  Loved this one.  Perfect shade, formula didn't flake or feel unnaturally stiff.  It was dry enough, but also wet enough to go on easily.

LIKES
-Aveeno Body Wash -- This was really nice on my dry skin, I just wish there was a nice scent to it.  I do however appreciate that scent free is best for some so I'm glad it's available to them.  I just may try something scented next time.
-Voluspa Spiced Pumpkin Latte - I liked the scent on this one more before it was burning.  I'd totally try it again as maybe mine was just a bit older, but it was lovely, I was just hoping for more.
-Rare Beauty Primer -- These were from the Rare Beauty booth at Sephoria and they were actually surprising with how much I enjoyed them.  I'm not a huge primer gal and these were so nice that I may try a full size!
-Clinique Pep Start SPF -- This was nice on my skin, and layered nicely with other skincare and foundation.  The drawback was if it got in my eyes... holy cow I'd be crying all day.
-Kosas Tinted face oil-- I actually really enjoyed the formula and shade on this one.  What took it down from a love was the 'nozzle' cracking making it impossible to put into a make up bag.  This one needed to stay straight up and be quite carefully used to prevent a mess.
-Function of beauty hair mask for wavy hair.  My hair is wavy, but I felt like this was something I'd categorize as between a conditioner or mask in it's moisturizing level.  I'd be curious to try more of their products with some of the add in's I've seen available.
-Peach Slices Snail Rescue - I love snail in my skincare and saw this from a sister company to Peach and Lily (a brand I love) so thought it would be an easy pick up for a travel sized option.  It fit the bill nicely.  It wasn't too expensive, it was a nice add in to my skincare and I'd use it again.
-Ulta Beauty Cleansing Wipes.  These were gentle and did a good job.  They were a good level of moist throughout use and the smaller pack size is nice since I try not to use wipes too often.
-Yadah Revitalizing Jelly Pack was nice, lots of jelly in there, and left my skin feeling refreshed.  I was able to use this one on my face for well over a half hour.
-SooAe Super Intensive Hydrocell Mask -- I really liked the material on this mask and it really did leave me feeling very hydrated.

MEH
-Bath and Body Works Candle in "tis the season" was okay, but it wasn't a favourite.
-Wldkat Starflower Snow Mushroom sleep mask - this was okay, but not as hydrating as others I've used.  The scent was also not my favourite.
-Salon Perfect Lashes -- Lashes last me a LONG time as I only wear them once or twice a year.  I also only wear them once so that I don't need to clean them and I buy the cheaper ones since I'm tossing them after one use.
-The Cream Shop Cleansing Wipes -- I used these up after doing some face painting on my nieces.  They work fine, but I need to use up my stash of wipes and move on.
-Cinique Happy Perfume - This was a project pan item that I used up as a rug spray when cleaning.  The scent changed over the decades that I'd owned this, yes decades.  It wasn't a bad scent, but it wasn't my thing.
-Lovescript Body Polish - This was an ipsy item that was fine, but it really wasn't anything special.
-MAC cleansing oil mini- was good to have while traveling, but it's not my favourite formula going.
-Bare Minerals Bare Pro powder - I used this on a day off where I wasn't going anywhere to see if I fell in love with the formula, but the shade was too dark.  The formula... was unmemorable.
-Victoria Secret Hydrogel mask - Loved the mask fabric/hydrogel, but the rose wasn't for me.
-Everyday Bounce Mask -- would be fine as an everyday mask, but nothing special.
-Tony Moly Pureness 100 Collagen Masks - These were fine.  I'm trying to use up sheet masks and I'm noticing that there are a lot of them where the differences are so minute that they are all blending together.
-SNC Jelly Vita Firming Masks -- These were nice.  Good after a long day, but again, not super distinguishable from the hoard of other masks I have been using.

PASS
- Random hair mask - This was a two part with the mask and a foil cap to wear while the mask was soaking in.  The foil bit was hard to wear and there was enough mask product for at least two uses... I have longer hair and I could have easily made this into 4 masks.  But then are you meant to keep the foil cap between uses?  The mask part was fine but no better than others.
-Random Hotel facial wipe - this was fine, I appreciate when hotels provide these to save their towels.  But I also found half of it was dry.  The half that was wet was nice though and I just added some water.
-Wishful enzyme foil sample -- the foil was empty.
-Fenty fragrance - I was not into this scent.
-Manic Panic -- Picked this up when my salon was out of the joico... Heck no, it ran so badly and stained my pillowcases.

Re: Empties - V2

@missjeanie Great empties! I love the Wow spray. My hair always feels soft after using it.

Re: Empties - V2

@Mellmars1185 And you have such gorgeous hair!  I can't wait to buy more once I work through some things!
